All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Esther Hammit DALHART - Esther Hammit, 95, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rusty Hancock, pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Hammit was born in Grant County, Okla., moved to Hansford County in the early 1900s and to Dalhart in 1928. She worked for Lincoln Street Baptist Church for more than 23 years. She married Walter A. "Pat" Hammit in 1923 at Ochiltree County. He died in 1964. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Emma Poyner, and a granddaughter, Jacquie Lucille Poyner. Survivors include two daughters, Jiggs Payne and Chris Williams, both of Dalhart; two sons, Walter Hammit of McAllister, Okla., and Kenneth Hammit of Fritch; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great- grandchildren.
