Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with John Elser, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mrs. Norwood was born Sept. 21, 1934, in Renfrow, Okla. She graduated from high school in Fort Sumner, N.M., in 1953 and Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. She earned a bachelor's degree in occupational nursing from Wayland Baptist University in 1985 and a bachelor's degree in nursing from West Texas A&M University in 1990. She worked as a registered nurse at Northwest Texas Hospital, Claude Public Schools, St. Anthony's Hospital and the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Amarillo. She retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Myree Helton; and her sister, Patty Zamora. Survivors include a daughter, Denia James and husband, Thomas, of Amarillo; a son, Reece Norwood of Houston; three sisters, Juanita McCalla of Colorado, Billie Brownlee of New Mexico and Nancy Bourland of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Ty James and Brittani James, both of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice; Harrington Cancer Center; or St. Jude Children's Center. Amarillo Globe-News, July 9, 2002
