All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************************** Obit for Albert Laverne Pearcy Albert Laverne Pearcy, 84, a native of Grant County died Saturday August 4 2001 at the Community Health Center in Wakita, Oklahoma. He was born one mile South of Sand Creek, Oklahoma on May 28, 1917, the seventh child born to Stacy Logan Pearcy and Annie May Black, both of whom precede him in death. He was a 1935 graduate of Gore High School. He was married to Beryl Marie Ledlow April 23, 1939, in Monte Vista, Colorado. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Medford, Oklahoma. Albert lived most of his life in Grant County. He retired in 1979, after 27 years of employment at the Adams Alloy and Rod Manufacturing Plant in Wakita. While living in Wakita, Albert served for several years as a member of the Wakita Town Board and was a Democratic Precinct Committee Member. He also served as a Lay Minister of the Pond Creek Church of the Nazarene. Albert loved to sing and was often called upon to sing at Weddings, Funerals and various church functions. He was a giving person and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Upon retirement, the Pearcys moved to Perkins, Oklahoma, where they served as caretakers of the Free Methodist Church Camp Grounds for nearly 10 years. They returned to Grant County in 1988, locating in Medford, where they resided until moving to the Wakita Community Health Center in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Beryl of Wakita; two daughters, Shirley Biggs and husband David of Medford; Beverly Mack of Enid; a son, Robert D. and wife Georgia, of Owasso; nine grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three brothers, Cecil and wife Verena of Eakly, OK; Omer and wife Rachel of Hackett, AR; and William and wife Bettie of Waukomis, OK. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by four brothers, Roy, Herschel, Louis and Emil; and three sisters, Goldie Albright, Zelphia Campbell and Alice Barwick. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Medford, Oklahoma under the direction of the Hill-Ely Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hawley Cemetery. Contributions in his memory, to the Wakita Community Health Center or the Medford Church of the Nazarene, in lieu of flowers are encouraged.
