Gloria White CLOVIS, N.M. - Gloria White, 72, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with Mark Welch and Frank Kelley officiating. Arrangements by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. White was born in Nash, Okla. She spent her formative years in Capron and Alva, Okla. She graduated from Alva High School and attended Northwest State Teachers College in Alva. She married Kenneth White in 1947 at Oklahoma City. The couple moved to Clovis in 1949. She was a member, pianist, music director, teacher, treasurer and public relations representative for the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was chairperson of the March of Dimes for many years. She organized the Crippled Children's Organization in Clovis, as well as the YMCA in Clovis. She was the top YMCA volunteer from 1975 to 1983. She also was the coordinator of the Annual Chili Dinner for many years. Mrs. White organized the Concerned Citizens for Human Rights, served as chairman of the Heart Association, was a member of the local Cancer Society, and was on the board of the Salvation Army. She served the Democratic Party as state chairwoman, precinct vice- chairperson, precinct secretary, and women's chairwoman for the Democratic Women's Club on the state central committee. She received numerous service awards including the Governor's Award and the Beta Sigma Phi Clovis chapter Woman of the Year in 1997. Mrs. White was a homemaker and personal secretary for her husband. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Joe White of Clovis and Ken White Jr. of Pueblo, Colo.; three daughters, Judith Marie Page of Spokane, Wash., Margaret White of Albuquerque, N.M., and Charla Sue Coleman of Concord, Maine; and 16 grandchildren. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be to the Gloria White Foundation for Children, P.O. Box 1749, Clovis, N.M. 88102-1749.
