Bob Busby was arrested at Willow Friday by Deputy Sheriff J. E. McMurtry, and is being held in the county jail awaiting the arrival of officers from Van Buren, Arkansas, where it is said he is wanted on a charge of murder. Busby married a young lady at Willow and has made his home there at intervals. Van Buren officers have been communicating with the sheriff's office here about him for several months and Greer county officers have been watching for him. When he appeared at Willow the Arkansas officers were notified and they wired back to arrest him, that they held a warrant for him on a murder charge. Busby is said to be charged with complicity in the murder of a man named Cooper, in the mountains near Van Buren on May 8. It is reported that several men, including Busby and Cooper, were gambling in the mountains and that Cooper was killed and his body thrown in a creek. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Greer County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/greer/greer.htm
