Bell CLAUDE - Velma R. Bell, 97, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Claude Cemetery with the Rev. Carol Crumpton, co-pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. of Clarendon. Mrs. Bell was born in Mangum, Okla. She moved from Mangum to Claude in 1906. She was the assistant manager of the LA Motel in Claude for several years before retiring. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Maulden Club and First United Methodist Church. She married Clifton Nelson Bell in 1924 at Vega. He died in 1965. Survivors include a son, Leroy Nelson Bell of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
