Darlene Howell
SPEARMAN - Darlene "Grump" Howell, 89, died Sunday, July 9, 2000.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick 
Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers 
Funeral Home.

Mrs. Howell was born in Granite, Okla. She moved to Spearman in 1911. She was 
chief clerk for Hansford County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation 
Service, retiring in 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She married Lester Howell in 1928 at Spearman. He died in 1981. She also was 
preceded in death by a son, Bobby Jack Howell, in 1935.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Dear of Spearman and Kay Crouch of Pampa; 
two sisters, Edna Cunningham of Amarillo and Helen Rawls of Phoenix; six 
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Spearman Little League, c/o Gary Ellsworth, 
P.O. Box 332, Spearman, TX 79081, or a favorite charity.
