All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Amarillo Homer C. Read Homer C. Read, 82, of Amarillo, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Claud Tugwell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Read was born in Willow, Okla. During World War II, he served with the Army in northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. He moved to Amarillo in 1945. He was a well tender for a petroleum company. He was a member of the Silver Streak camping club and Wheels-A-GoGo camping club. Mr. Read married Koby in 1945 at San Antonio. She died in 1988. Survivors include a son, Clay Read of Amarillo; three sisters, Thelma McLeod and Crystal Lee Read, both of Amarillo, and Ruby Hayden of Phoenix; two brothers, Glenn Harris of Amarillo and Eddie Read of Ringgold; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
