Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Ave Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with the Rev. Jeff Raines of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Russell was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Willow, Okla., to Thomas and Oveta Chisum. She married Melvin Russell on June 2, 1986, in Hereford. Mrs. Russell was an energetic woman who enjoyed dancing. She sold Stanley Home Products and was a cosmetic consultant for Vanda Cosmetics for a number of years. In addition to this she was a member of First Baptist Church, the Senior Citizens Association, the Order of the Eastern Star, AE Shirley 986, Royal Neighbors of America and Bluebonnets. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Oveta Chisum; her first husband, Robbie Roberson; her second husband, Melvin Russell in 2003; a sister, Viola Parker; and a brother, Virgil Chisum. Survivors include a sister; Velma Blake and husband Homer of Stratford; two nephews, Tom Blake and wife Wanda of Streetman and Mike Chisum and wife Rita of Russelville, Ark., a niece, Anita Chisum Pierce of San Antonio; and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews.
