Rev. Scott Allred and Rev. T. J. Cho will officiate. Jim was born on August 16, 1921, in Mangum, Oklahoma and resided in Kern County for 55 years. Jim was a member of the Muedell Oildale Masonic Lodge #695, lifetime member of NRA, member of St. Marks Methodist Church, veteran of World War II, Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic. Jim retired from Standard Oil with 20 years of service and then owned and operated Minute Mart for 15 years. Jim loved to bowl, travel, and be with his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce of Bakersfield; sons and daughters-in-law, James Mick and Bea Asbury and Dean and Jacquline Asbury; daughter, Paula Koonce; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Winford Louis; brother-in-law, Carl Royal, all of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
