Cortner Mildred B. Cortner, 88 yrs., of Glendale, Arizona, passed away on September 27, 2006. Born October 27, 1917 in Reed, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on September 27, 2006. She was along time resident of Pueblo, Colorado, wintered at Val Vista Park in Mesa, Arizona. She later resided at Thunderbird Retirement Resort in Glendale, AZ., spending her last months with daughter and son-in-law Velda and Ron King. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Thomas & Rose West, her husband of 61 yrs. Vernon Cortner, three brothers, four sisters, one grandchild and her son-in-law James Leinberger. She is survived her five children Nanette (Larry) Christenson, Donna Leinberger, Stan Cortner, Velda ( Ron ) King, Clifford Cortner, 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, her brother T.J. West and sister-law Delia Dudley. The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Valley for their tender and loving care of their mother. Visitation will be 12 noon to 2:00 P.M. with services immediately following on Monday October 2, 2006 at Apollo Baptist Church, 11611 N. 51st Avenue, Glendale, AZ. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. October 6, 2006 at Imperial Gardens in Pueblo, Colorado. Her loving and kind spirit will be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Apollo Baptist Church in Glendale.
