Greer County, OK - Obits: Edith Stansbury, 1904 Sunday, October 24, 2004 Submitted by: Dana.Vejcik@hpisd.net (Dana Vejcik) Here is the obit for Edith Stansbury. She was born Feb.7, 1839 in Polk Co., Missouri and died on Feb. 18, 1904 in Francis, Greer Co. Oklahoma. She was married to William Ivy Stansbury and the mother of Solomon, Malinda, Shelletta, Benjamin Frank (B.F.), Louise, William Ivy, Samuel, Charles, Clara, and Edith Stansbury. This obit was found in the bible of B.F. Stansbury. Mrs. E. Stansbury, of Francis, Okla., departed this life, Feb. 18, 1904, after five years of consumption. She leaves a husband and eight children. In our minds affections there is no other Remembered by us like our own dear mother, Sadly we laid her away to rest; Resigned to the thought that God knows best. She watched over us in our infant days, And smiled at our childish griefs and plays, And when we grew to mature years She taught us Christ with prayers and tears. She suffered on through weary years Patient though were her sighs and tears Her earthly pilgramage she trod Still clinging to her faith in God. Goodbye to mother we sadly said She is "at home" she is not dead And on the resurrection morn A heavenly robe will her adorn. Meet me in heaven, dear mother pled Where the parting tears are never shed Where there is no sickness, pain or dread, Where the goodbye words are never said.
