All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Riverside Cemetery--Mangum OK Altus Times 28 April 2004 Ernest Fennel was born Aug. 9, 1922 in Hollis to Mary (Drew) and Liage Fennel. He died April 26, 2004 in Mangum at the age of 81 years 8 months and 17 days. Ernest attended school in Hollis. He entered the United States Army in 1943 and served his country in World War II, where he received a purple heart and a bronze star. After his discharge from the Army, he was a painter for the civil service. He married Kathleen (Cole) in Mangum in 1958. Kathleen passed away in 1971. Ernest later married Bessie (Cowger) at Wellington, Texas in 1985. Ernest loved camping, hunting, fishing and loved to play dominoes. He was a member of Nazarene Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one son Bobby Fennel, one stepdaughter, Teddy Sibley, three sisters and seven brothers. Survived by his children, Wayne and LaVonda Fennel of Mangum, Charlotte and Wally Elbe of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Sue and Orlando Guieterez, Livermore, Calif.; grandchildren, Jessie Fennel, Erick Clark, and Lavonne Fennel and many others, one great-grandchild, Sierra Fennel, host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Nazarene Church in Mangum officiated by Ed Houston.
