MCWHORTER DIED SATURDAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Eral McWhorter were held today (Monday) at 1:30 p.m. in Greer Funeral Chapel with Rev. James W. Evans, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. She died Saturday morning in a Mangum nursing home after an illness of 12 years. Born May 14, 1878 in San Saba County, Texas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Smith, she came to the Jester community in 1890 and lived in the county for the rest of her life. She was married to Albert Caudle in 1898 and he passed away in 1921 at Reed. In 1923 she was married to O. A. McWhorter in Altus. He also preceded her in death in 1956. Survivors are one son, L. C. Caudle of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Griffin of Watsonville, California; one stepson, Edward McWhorter of El Paso, Texas; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Lock of Marfa, Texas and Mrs. Etta Linville, Gillespie, Illinois.==========================================================================
