 Thomas E. Merryman 
   
Thomas e. Merryman, age 86 years, one month and 26 days, died at the home 
of his daughter, Mrs. Lewis Crabtree, near Russell at five o'clock Sunday 
morning.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence of a son, on North 
Pennsylvania avenue, at three o'clock Monday afternoon, J.D. Riddle, 
assistant pastor of the First Baptist Church; officiating.
Thomas E. Merryman was a native of Texas. He served in the Third Texas Cavalry, 
Ross Brigade, during the Civil War. Coming to Greer County in 1890, he engaged 
in farming for a number of years and then moved to Mangum and lived here for 
many years. For the past few years he lived with his children.
