Virginia Murphy
Virginia Murphy, 82, of Amarillo, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. William D. Nix Jr. of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street.
Mrs. Murphy was born in Mangum, Okla. She moved to Amarillo 50 years ago with her husband, Dr. Weldon O. Murphy. He died in 1975.
Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She also was a member of the Altar Guild at St. Andrew's, the Garden Club and the Amarillo Junior League.
Survivors include two daughters, Collen Burris of Amarillo and Kathleen Markley of Parker, Colo.; a brother, Dr. Jones Witcher of Amarillo; two sisters, Annette Meador of Mangum and Juanita Reddin of Houston; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
