L. Riggs Rites to be Held Here Friday Afternoon (1966) James Lonnie "Shorty" Riggs, 74, died December 6 at Lou Len Manor. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Memorial Chapel at Johnson Southwest Mortuary with Rev. J. Allen Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Brinkman Cemetery. He was born in March of 1892 in Tennessee and came to Oklahoma in 1910, living for a time in Sayre and in 1918 moved to Brinkman, where he worked as a ginner. Fifteen years ago he came to Mangum where he was employed at the Mangum Farmers Coop Gin and later by the police department and as a court house custodian. He was a member of the Willow Masonic Lodge. He has no immediate survivors, one son, J. L. Riggs, jr. died in 1965 in California. ----------- Note: Lonnie Riggs was the son of John H. and Mary Gore Riggs. He was born in Moscow, Fulton County, Kentucky, orphaned when young and raised by his paternal grandparents: William George and Sarah Eveline Jenkins Riggs, who lived in Decatur and Benton Counties, Tennessee. ============================================================================ =========================================================================
