All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ SCHAFFENBERG, NETTIE (9 Jan 1925, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Obituary Death visited our community last week and took from our midst Mrs. Nettie Schaffenberg. Mrs. Schaffenberg was born in Hartsville, Indiana, April 5, 1858. She was married to Henry Charles Schaffenberg, March 22, 1880, in Bauchannan, Mich. Mrs. Schaffenberg died January 2, 1925. Burial took place at the Rock Cemetery near Granite (Greer County). Five children are left to mourn her loss. They are Mrs. Mattie Sheets of Spearman, Texas, Mrs. Lottie Elliott of Forgan, Okla., Mrs. Pearl Mulanax of Granite, Okla., Ray Schaffenberg, Granite, Okla., Kenneth Schaffenberg of Port. Her husband and three children passed on to the great beyond before her. Mrs. Scaffenberg was an active member of the Church of Christ until her death. She was one of the three charter members of the Granite Church 30 years ago. She was sick only a few days when death came. Her death came as a shock to our community. Mr. and Mrs. Schaffenberg were pioneers of Oklahoma, coming to this country thirty-six years ago and settling on a claim where Granite now stands. Mrs. Schaffenberg lived to be 67 years old. She has been making her home with her son-in-law, Frank Sanders of Port, for over two years. Besides her relatives she leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss.
