Okla. Archives. *********************************************************************** Conger Avanell Sexton Conger, 65, Altus, died Friday. Funeral services, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus, are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Friendship Baptist Church. The Rev. Madison Clinton will officiate and burial will follow at the Navajo Cemetery. She was born on July 20, 1937 at Hollis to Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Sexton. She married Jim Conger Dec. 23, 1954 in Altus. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was the owner of Altus Western Wear from 1969 until 1983. She raised and raced greyhounds for more than 25 years and was a member of the National Greyhound Association and Oklahoma Greyhound Association. She is survived by her husband Jim of Altus; son Jimmy C. Conger of Cyril; daughters Dana Fall and husband Mike of Oklahoma City and Gina Abernathy and husband Paul of Goodland, Kan.; sisters Dorothy Ayres and husband Troy of Hollis, Wilma Brooks and husband Joe of Sapulpa, Glenna Jones and husband Sterling of Hollis; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister
