Archives. ************************************************************ Bobby Kirby Memorial services for Bobby Kirby, 89, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel of Elk City. The Rev. Ridge Lamar will officiate. She died Friday at her daughter and son-in-law's home. She was born Aug. 15, 1912 in a small house behind "The McKnight Store" nine miles north of Hollis to John Wesley and John Margaret Mitchell. She was raised in Hollis where married L.M. Kirby when she was 15 and he was 21. They moved to California in 1937. They came back to Hollis and bought a farm. Her husband ran the concession at the theater for 12 years. Together they built Kirby Motel and Restaurant in 1959. Survivors include one brother, Denny Mitchell and his wife Lorene of Searcey, Ark., two daughters, Diane and Tony Kysil of Elyria, Ohio, Billie and Jerry Elrod of Elk City, two daughters-in-law, Connie Kirby Richeson of Altus Frances Kirby of Amarillo, Texas, nine grandchildren and 15-great-grandchildren. Shee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, David Kirby.
