Okla. Archives. ************************************************************ SEPT. 17: Manning Marion Elonzo (Lonnie) Manning formerly of Blair died in Littlefield, Texas August 15, 2002. A memorial service is set for Thursday at 10 a.m. in Levelland, Texas with Head Family Funeral Home Chapel. Manning was born Sept. 23, 1923 to Thomas and Evelyn (Sorrels) Manning in Hollis, but was raised in Gould. He married Marian Mae Findlay on Oct. 28, 1945 in Carlsbad, N.M. He is best known for the many hours spent at the race tracks and working on race cars with his son, known as "The Old Man and The Kid." Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Burleson and husband Bruce, Littlefield, Texas, Kim Irving and husband Rodney, Cleveland, Ok.; a son, Edward Manning and his wife Robin of Altus, nine grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
