Okla. Archives. ************************************************************ JULY 3: Horton Rena (Kirby) Horton died Tuesday at her home in Hollis. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Nazarene in Dodson, Texas with the Rev. Tyrone Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. She was born Sept. 28, 1910 in McKinney, Texas to R.D. and Dolly Kirby. She was one of 13 children who all preceded her in death. She married W.R. (Doc) Horton May 9, 1929. He died on Feb. 2, 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hollis where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Eastern Star serving in the capacity of Worthy Matron. Her hobbies included gardening, playing dominoes with her friends, and she and her husband were major contributors to the Hollis Rodeo Arena. She is survived by one daughter, Beth Horton and one son, Jimmy Horton, grandchildren, Gregg Brown, Shane Newkirk, Tammy Horton and Carmen Horton, two great-grandchildren, Will Brown and Breana Newkirk.
