Okla. Archives. ************************************************************ Nov. 1, 2002 Ralph William Sherrill, 88, Vinson, died Saturday at Harmon Memorial Hospital in Hollis. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. today at Stewart Funeral Chapel, Hollis with Reverend James Westmoreland, officiating. Burial followed at Independence Cemetery. He was born April 16, 1914 to William and Cora Sherrill in Lone Wolf. He married Veldima Green February 1, 1933 in Hobart. He retired after farming and ranching in the Vinson area all his adult life. He lived in the Vinson community for 74 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He is survived by three sons, Gerald and his wife Patricia Sherrill, R. W. (Dub) and his wife Ella Sherrill, both of Vinson, Ralph "Fudd" and his wife Pauline Sherrill, Frederick; five daughters, Joyce Brown, Levelland, Texas, Melva and her husband Don Thompson of Anadarko, Earlene Pierce, Childress, Texas, Pat and her husband Homer West of Dallas, Texas and Ruth and her husband Mutt Lawson of Southgate, California; one daughter-in-law Lorene Sherrill of Bartlesville; twenty-nine grandchildren; fifty-five great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren; one brother Rufus Sherrill, Vinson; and one sister, Louetta of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veldima in 1999; a son R. L. Sherrill in 1998; four grandchildren; and his parents William and Cora Sherrill.
