Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Ulrey, pastor of St. James United Methodist Church in Abilene, officiating. Burial will be in Dodson Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Carter was born July 2, 1914, in Dodson, to William W. Carter and Hattie Bradford Carter. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of Jackson; a daughter, Andrea Woods of Jackson; a son, Leigh Carter of Ruidoso, N.M.; a sister, Mayme Lewis of Hollis, Okla.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
