Okla. Archives. ************************************************************ Ben Whisenant, 79, died Thursday, at University Hospital in Oklahoma City. Services were held Saturday at the First Christian Church of Holdenville. The Rev. Don Campo officiated. Burial was held Saturday afternoon at the Fairmount Cemetery of Hollis. The Rev. David Furlow officiated. Services were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville and Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis. He was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Hollis to Ben Christian and Mary Adna (Miller) Whisenant. He was brought up in Hollis and graduated from Hollis High School. He joined the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Army Air Force. He then returned to Hollis He worked with father on the family farmer for many years and then lived in Arizona for several years. For 27 years he owned and operated his business "Grade Stakes", a survey stake manufacturing company. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Holdenville. He was active in counseling people in Holdenville, Shawnee and Wewoka with alcohol and chemical dependency problems. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Whisenant of Holdenville, two sons, Ben C. Whisenant and wife Evette of Mangum and Glen Whisenant and his wife Alice of Brazoria, Texas; nine grandchildren, Lita Matthews and her husband Johnny of Ada, Benita Castillo and husband Eric of Yukon, Brad Whisenant and wife Faith of Hollis, Becky Whisenant of Weatherford, Jason Whisenant of Brazoria, Texas, Wesley Whisenant of Lake Jackson, Texas, Lauren Whisenant of Lake Jackson, Texas and Kristi Valls and her husband Noah of Wellington, Texas, three great-grandchildren, Skye Valles, Kaytlan Valles, and Alyssa Whisenant and one sister, Beth Lindsey of Hollis.
