Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Parkside Chapel with the Rev. Ken Varner officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park, north of Hereford, by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Welty was born July 20, 1921, in Tulia, the son of Herman and Julia Welty. He served in the Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Letha; six sons, Robert Welty of California, John R. Welty of Colorado, Ronald Welty and Donnie Welty, both of Canyon, Jeff Welty of Hereford and John W. Welty of Dayton; two daughters, Cynthia Welty of Hereford and Tammy Lynn Welty of Houston; a brother, Everett Welty of Loupe City, Neb.; a sister, Lucy Derryberry of Kinta, Okla; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
