All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Jean Mavis Keese 1929 - 2008 Jean Mavis Keese passed from this life October 24, 2008 at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her twin brother, Dr. James Davis Moore; sons, James R. Keese, J. Alan Keese, John S. Keese and William (Bill) A. Keese, their wives; fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in 1995 by her husband of 47 years, James R. Keese, Sr. Mavis was born January 14, 1929 in Keota, Oklahoma to B. C. "Buster" and Anna Mary (nee Greenwood) Moore. She grew up and attended school mostly in rural Oklahoma, attending Oklahoma State Teacher's College (now OSU) in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. There she met and subsequently married Jim. The couple's married life took them from Oklahoma to New Mexico, and eventually to Bakersfield, CA in 1956 where they lived until Jim's passing. In 2002 declining health forced Mavis to move to Apple Valley, California to be near her son, Jim and daughter-in-law, Janet. She lived there until her death. When her children were old enough, Mavis returned to college and completed her education and teaching credential. She taught kindergarten and elementary school several years. She was an active long time member of Trinity Baptist Church of Bakersfield where she taught Sunday School, played piano and sang in the choir. Mavis loved playing piano and singing, traveling, cooking, and reupholstering antique furniture. She seemed the most happy and carefree when on fishing and picnicking outings with Jim and her four sons; and later when surrounded by her grandchildren. Her sons and their families were her greatest source of pride and, she would say, her greatest achievement. She is fondly remembered and will be deeply missed. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, November 1st, at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA. Funeral is scheduled at 1:00 p.m., with graveside and interment immediately following. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Parkinson's Institute, Mental Health America, or a charity of choice.
