Keith Gus F. Keith, 89, of Amarillo, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with Dr. Murray Gossett, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Keith was born in McCurtain, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo since 1926. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after working with it since 1927. He belonged to the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and had held several offices with them. He was a member of the Downtown Lions Club and a charter member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. He was a Mason for 50 years and a member of the Knights Templar for 50 years. He was a member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Keith was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Navy Seabees 7th Battalion in the South Pacific. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cova J. Keith, in 1969. He married his wife Dorothy in 1971 at Tucson, Ariz. Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Wyn Murdock of Fort Worth; four brothers, C.W. Keith Jr. of Carlsbad, N.M., and L.C. Keith, John M. Keith and Jack W. Keith, all of Amarillo; a stepgranddaughter; and three stepgreat-grandsons. The family requests memorials be to the deacon's fund at First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Harrison St., Amarillo, Texas 79101; the Senior Citizens Center, Box 31180, Amarillo, Texas 79120; or the Downtown Lions Club, Box 2792, Amarillo, Texas 79105.
