Roy Leon Mills was born July 16, 1917 in Sans Bois, Oklahoma, to William Tony (Bill) and Ida Mills, and died on July 12 in Moses Lake, Washington. He received his education in Oklahoma. In 1937 Roy married his loving wife Irene in Stigler, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WWII. Upon his return from the war, Roy and Irene moved to Wasco, California. In 1948 Roy, Irene, and Roys parents built the Wasco Skating Rink and operated it for several years. Many Wasco people learned to skate under Roys tutelage and have happy memories of that time. Roy and Irene later moved to the Pacific Northwest, where Roy was engaged in home construction for several years prior to settling in Moses Lake. They owned and operated the former KOA Campground before retirement. Living in Moses Lake allowed Roy to indulge his lifelong passion for bird hunting and fishing. Roy is predeceased by: their infant son Roy Gordon Mills; his parents; his sister Freda Havens and her husband Ralph; and his brothers, Harry and E.C. Bus Mills. He is survived by his beloved wife Irene; his brothers Hubert and wife Rae, J.W. and wife Zelda, Gene and wife Lee, and Pat and wife Joanne; his sisters Rena Wilson and husband Vernon, Norma Crawford and husband Emry, Rita Portwood and husband Ordell; and his sister-in-law, Lois Mills. Also surviving Roy is a very large extended family including numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
