All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sunset Memorial Gardens--Lawton OK Becker Funeral Home Obit 23 Sep 2005 Martha Louise Safrit Age 94, Lawton - Graveside services will be at 10:00 am Monday in the Veteran’s Field of Honor, Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Rev. William F. Todd, Senior Pastor of Centenary United Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Safrit died Friday in a local care center. Burial will be under the direction of Becker Funeral Home. Martha was born September 14, 1911 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Eula (Busbee) and Louis Rosheger. She grew up in Stigler, Beaumont, TX and Tulsa, OK. She married Clarence Safrit on December 28, 1945 in Tulsa, OK. He died April 25, 2000. Martha served in the Women’s Army Corps from October 28, 1943 until November 11, 1945. She served in London, England and Paris, France. She was awarded the French Croix de Guerre with bronze star by the French Government on October 25, 1945. She and her husband lived in Lawton while he was stationed at Fort Sill from 1948 until their deaths. Martha retired from Civil Service at Fort Sill after 15 years in 1974. Survivors Include: Sister, Elsie Frances Rosheger of Lawton, OK, Nephew Richard Dee Evans and his wife Linda of Colorado Springs, CO, 2 Great Nephews, David Lee Evans and wife Melissa and Adam Lee Evans and his wife Megan. Cousin, Anna Lee Stock of Tulsa, OK, Brother In- Law Henry Safrit of Charlotte, NC, 4 Sisters In-Law, Virginia Russell and Necie Fisher of Kannapolis, NC and Mady Barts, Shelby, NC and Deenie Sherman, Concord, NC. She was preceded in death by: husband, parents, two sisters, Felicia Montgomery and Ann Evans, Brother Seeburn Rosheger, Niece Bobby Jean Montgomery and a great nephew, Eric Evans.
