All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Wasco Memorial Park--Wasco CA The Bakersfield Californian 5 November 2004 David Wayne Salyards Mar. 10, 1945 - Nov. 3, 2004 Funeral services will be held at Wasco Griffith Ave. Baptist Church on Monday, November 8, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. for David Wayne Salyards, age 59, of Wasco, who passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at his residence in Wasco. Pastor Bill Lewis will officiate and words of comfort by Bob Few. Interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Viewing will be Sunday, November 7, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco. David Salyards was born March 10, 1945 in Keota, Oklahoma, the son of William H. and Ivaleen Salyards. He came to California in 1948 and Wasco in 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy. He married Gwendolyn Poe on May 28, 1970 in Wasco. He founded and operated Salyards Plumbing until his retirement. He enjoyed barbecues, loved fellowshipping, loved his family, especially his grandchildren, Dylan and Katie. He attended Griffith Ave. Baptist Church and taught Sunday School. He also did maintenance at the church. He enjoyed being around and loved children and was involved in Little League in the past. David is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn of Wasco; sons, William David Salyards of Wasco and fiancée, Lillian Craig, Joshua Wayne Salyards of Agoura Hills and fiancée, Ginger Fawn; grandchildren, Dylan and Katie Salyards; honorary sons, Bobby Derrington of Wasco and Timothy Poe of Wasco serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ronald Reagan; brothers, Gary Gene Salyards of Mt. View, MO, Larry Dale Salyards and wife, Gail of Wasco and Frank Salyards and wife, Pattie of Bakersfield; sisters, Margie Berry and husband, Buster of Charleston, Arkansas and Billie March and husband, Willie of Thornton, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Ivaleen; sister, Sharon Kay Higginson; and nephews, Jason Salyards and Scott Robbins.
