Oneida, went to be with her Lord on July 24, 2002 at the age of 74. Oneida was born March 13, 1928 in McCurtain, OK to Melvin Ray Young and Della Mae (Bethune) Young. She married Jerry W. Sawyer and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Oneida was the Regional Coordinator of the AFL-CIO before retiring in 1992. She served as a volunteer at her church, Southern Hills United Methodist Church, was a member of Eastern Star Lodge 145, OPEIU Local 381 union, and local Union President and for the Human Resources Development Institute. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: R. Troy Young, Billy J. Young, Juanita M. Farmer, Cecil 'Teet' Young, and Etta Mae Monks. She is survived by children B. Gale Cliburn, and Vicki Diane Greene and husband James B. Greene; grandchildren Chad Wayne Cliburn, and Jeremy B. Greene and wife Christina; great granddaughter Victoria Diane Greene; siblings: Barbara D. Brassfield, N. 'Glenn' Young and wife Mildred E. Ray Young and wife Retha, and A.F. 'Boke' Young; very special brother-in-law and sister in-law Gene Dan Sawyer and Winifred Donahue; and many nieces, nephews, and precious surviving in-laws. The family wishes to send special Thanks to Pam Worcester, RN, Preferred Hospice; Tamara Davis, CNA, Personal Nursing Care; Rick Nichols, Chaplain, Preferred Hospice; Samantha Griffin, HHA, Preferred Hospice; Dr. Timothy Moore; and all others who provided care for Mrs. Sawyer. Family suggests memorials be made to Preferred Hospice, Urban Ministries, or the Amer. Cancer Society. Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday July 27 at the Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel.
