"Bud" Short, 84, of Amarillo, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Windell Taylor, chaplain of Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Short was born in Stigler, Okla., and had lived most of his life in Amarillo. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was employed by Lane's Ice Cream before working for the Amarillo Independent School District as a custodian. Mr. Short retired in 1975. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. He married Elvina Furrow in 1973 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Betty Ann Boyd of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Linda Hoskinson and Charlotte Windham, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Margaret Rankin of Farmington, N.M., and Helen Sharp of Sherman; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
