Memorial service: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, on Cherry Lane in White Settlement. Graveside service: Thursday, June 23, in Stigler Cemetery, Stigler, Okla. Raymonde was born April 5, 1931, in Berchem, Antwerp, Belgium. Having survived the German bombs and occupation of World War II, she left her Brussells, Belgium, home upon marrying T.Sgt. Doyle O. Patterson of Stigler, Okla. After teaching herself English and American history and laws, she applied for and became a U.S. citizen. She was married to Doyle until 1970. She bore two daughters, Michelle and Jacqueline. She later wed Gene Steele of Hill County, in 1987. His work took them on travels around the world. They resided in Indonesia and Turkey for several years. They returned home to the U.S. and retired in Alvarado. After Gene's passing, she spent her last year under her daughter Jacqueline's loving care. She is best remembered for her zeal for life, charismatic personality, beautiful smile and love of her daughters, family, friends, and of course, her pets. Her spirit remained high even through her six-month cancer sentence, given in 2002. Her positive attitude and zeal allowed her to survive three more years, until finally losing her battle with the complications of breast cancer and heart failure. Her passing comes 51 weeks to the day of her first husband's death. A special and sincere thanks to the exceptional care provided by the nurses at All Saints Hospital and Dr. Christopher Jordan, whose attention and genuine concern was so greatly appreciated. Survivors: Her daughter, Jacqueline of Fort Worth; aunt, Christine Henne of Belgium; and Mr. Steele's stepchildren, Chip, Laura, Lisa and Glen. Published in the Star-Telegram on 6/18/2005.
