Obit for Jess V. Owens

Jess V. Owens
GRADY, N.M. - Jess V. Owens, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, in Lubbock, 
Texas.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Grady Cemetery with the Rev. 
Jesse Shaver officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.

Mr. Owens was born in Holdenville, Okla., and had been a resident of Grady 
for 21 years. He worked for El Rancho for 31 years. He was active in Babe 
Ruth baseball, coaching the Eagles for six years. He was a member of Forrest 
Heights Baptist
Church.

He married Creola Smith in 1946 at Clovis.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Letha Cross of Broadview; two sons, 
Lynn Owens and Monte Owens, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; 13 grandchildren; and 
six great-grandchildren.
