Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Kelvin Moseley and David Karges officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Buckner moved to Seminole 15 years ago from Mangum. He was born April 5, 1913, in Reed to Robert Leonard and Lottie Davis Buckner. He married Loette Higgins on July 15, 1938, in Altus. Buckner had been a pharmacist for 15 years. Following his pharmacy career, he worked as an insurance agent, retiring as state manager for Modern Woodmen of America Life Insurance. He attended the First Baptist Church. Buckner was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Herman Buckner and a sister, Madora Hilley. Survivors include: his wife, Loette Buckner of the home in Seminole; two sons, Robert Bruce Buckner of Oklahoma City and Sherman Wayne Buckner; a daughter, Brynda McCoy of Seminole; a sister, Constance Whister of Stillwater; five grandchildren, Brina Patrice Tignor, Damon Lee McCoy, Daphne McCoy-Schroder, Sophia Loette Molloy and Isabella Buckner and five great grandchildren, Alabama Loette Molloy, Keagan McCoy, Georgia Molloy, Miranda Tignor and Kelsey McCoy. Chambers Graveside services for Mattie Gertrude Chambers will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Frederick Cemetery. Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Oklahoma City is in charge of arrangements. She was born Sept. 9, 1909 to J.K. and Mary Alice (Molly) Short in Glenwood, Ark. She married Owen Julian Chambers Sept. 30, 1933 in Frederick where they made their home until 1960. They then moved to Altus. She spent the last 26 years living with her daughter in Oklahoma City. She received her education at Bumble Bee School in Lucky, Ark. She was preceded in death by son, James Wilburn in 1946, her husband in 1973, four brothers and one sister. Survivors include a daughter, Charlena Fulton of Oklahoma City, a son, Bud (Robert) Chambers of Altus; two sisters, Belle Woodall of Fort Worth, Texas and Lois Hughbanks, Gridley, Calif.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Chapman Thelma Lee Chapman, 71, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at Mangum City Hospital. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Mangum with the Rev. Charles Watson officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Mangum. Chapman was born March 25, 1928, in Mangum, to C.C. and Marietta (Cruz) Tillman. She married A.B. "Bill" Chapman on Aug. 29, 1943, in Hobart. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Mangum where she also served in the United Methodist Women and was a member of the Keystone Sunday school class. She worked for her mother at the tag agency for several years. She is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her husband, A.B. "Bill" Chapman; one son, Joe Clarence Chapman and wife Linda, Duncan; one brother, Dr. Tom Tillman of Wilmette, Ill.; one sister, Pat Brewster of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandsons, Jay Lyle Chapman and wife Amy and Barry Chapman and wife Audrey as well as two great grandsons, Warren and Bobby Chapman. Chisum Irene S. Chisum, 82, Altus, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at her home. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ with Ed Lobaugh and Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She died Wednesday at her home in Altus. Chisum was born May 21, 1917, in Big Spring, Tex., to William and Lillie (Glover) Sholte. The family moved to Altus when she was a young girl. She graduated from Altus High School and attended Wesley Nursing School in Oklahoma City. She quit school and on May 22, 1940, married Harvey Chisum in Lone Wolf. To this union, one daughter was born, Elizabeth Ann. She went back to LPN. school and received her certification. In 1954 she went to work for Dr. Mabry in his hospital, she later worked for Dr. Erby at the City Hospital from 1945 until 1949. She assisted with the first surgery in Jackson County Memorial Hospital in August of 1949. She later worked for Dr. Becker and Dr. Tefertiller. She helped organize and collect equipment, which was loaned to terminal cancer patients in their homes. She was active and the PTA and was a room mother for six years. She was the project chairwoman at Wilson Elementary School raising funds to buy the first two electrical water fountains in the Altus school system and was active in school activities during her daughter's school years. She was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ since 1941, where she was a Sunday School teacher several years, made alter flower arrangements and provided food for funeral dinners. She was a member of the Jackson County LPN Association, where she served one term as president; worked and received the charter for Jackson, Tillman and Harmon Counties LPN Association. She was a member of the Gladiolus Garden Club for several years and was instrumental in establishing the Altus Garden Club. She was a national accredited flower show judge, having attended flower show schools in Lawton, Oklahoma City, Lubbock, Texas, Springfield, Mo., St. Louis. She received a national accredited certificate as a life and master judge and was a lifetime member on Oklahoma State Garden Clubs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey; a sister, Neoma Tipton; a brother, Wilburn Southwick. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Ann and Junior Hubanks, a grandson and his wife, Chris and Ann Hubanks all of Walters; a nephew, David Tipton of Oklahoma City; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Conner Susan Lyn Conner, 50, of Orlando, Fla., died Jan. 30, 2000. Memorial services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Central Christian Church at Mangum with the Rev. Ron Davenport officiating. Stewart Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Conner was born Nov. 12, 1949, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Joe W. and Othello Garner Sweet. She attended many different schools including Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany. She spent 23 years in Oklahoma City. She was a registered nurse. Conner was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Lessie Garner and Lewis and Viola Sweet as well as one aunt, Peggy Meyer. Survivors include: her mother, Othello Sweet of Mangum; two daughters, Kerensa Conner and Megan Cole, both of Norman; two sisters, Sherri Beson of Oklahoma City and Lori Eckersall of Arieba; one brother, James Sweet of Mangum and one granddaughter, Scarlett Cole of Norman. Cramer Carolyn B. Cramer, 60, Altus, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000. There will be no funeral services scheduled. Arrangements were handled by Kincannon Funeral Home. Cramer was born Aug. 19, 1939, in Marshall, Wis., to Bill and Violet Wolfe Butzine. She attended high school in Wisconsin. She married Roger Cramer on Oct. 10, 1962. She had worked at the Department of Human Services but was currently retired. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Womens' Auxiliary. Cramer is survived by her husband Roger, of the home; a daughter, Barbara Lovett of Missouri and a son, William Moore of Virginia. Craven Blanche R. Craven, 91, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Mangum City Hospital. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Mangum with the Rev. Jimmy Pitson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home. Craven was born Sept. 7, 1908, in Bourbon, Mo., to Thomas Andy and Mary Ellen Burgess Reeves. She married William Alvin Craven on Ja. 5, 1925. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1963. She was a homemaker and cooked and managed the Hotel Franklin Cafe alongside her husband. She was a longtime resident of Mangum and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and an infant son as well as three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include: her children, Betty and husband R.L. Patton of Mangum, Robert and wife June Craven of Carpenterville, Ill. and James Craven of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Mary Ellen Haywood of Florida, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Edmiaston Services for Jerry Troyce Edmiaston, 57-year-old Altus, resident will be 6 p.m. Friday in the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Simonson officiating. He died Thursday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1942, in Altus to Troy and Kathleen (Gillespie) Edmiaston. He grew up in Altus and served in the United States Army. He was the superintendent of the golf course at Altus Air Force Base. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, hunting and gardening. Survivors his father, Troy Edmiaston of Dennison, Texas; his mother, Kathleen Stovall of Oklahoma; two daughters, Kathy Commander, Odessa Texas and Carla Edmiaston of Kerrville, Texas; two sons, Jerry Randel Edmiaston of Altus and Samuel Troyce Edmiaston of Amarillo, Texas; three sisters, Sunny Hunter of Piedmont, Rebecca Edmiaston of Waterloo, Iowa, Rhonda Smith of San Antonio, Texas; ten grandchildren, one great grandson, nieces nephews, and many friends. Fierro Irenia Fierro, 16, died at her residence in Vernon, Texas, on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, following a lengthy illness. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. today at Wilbarger Memorial Park with Minister Jimmy Morales officiating. Interment was under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Fierro was born May 5, 1983, in Bejucos, Mexico. A daughter of Herminio Fierro and Elva Cardoso Fierro, she was a student in Vernon Middle School and a member of the Jehova's Witness Church. She is survived by her parents, Herminio and Elva Fierro of Vernon; three sisters, Glenda Fierro, Jessica Fierro and Raquel Fierro, all of Vernon; two brothers, Herminio Fierro, Jr. and Vincente Fierro, both of Vernon; her grandfather, Concepcion Fierro of Altus and several aunts and uncles. Freeman Richard T. Freeman, 74, Lawton, died Friday, Feb.4, 2000. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Whinery-Huddleston Chapel, officiated by the Rev. John Webb. Freeman was born jan. 13, 1926, in Lamar, to Lucille and O.T. Freeman. He attended and graduated from Ozark High School. He served in the Navy during World War II and served on the U.S.S. Hopewell. he had been employed by the Oklahoma Tax Commission in the weights and measures division, retiring in 1984 when he moved to Lawton. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a longtime member of the American Legion and of the Elks Lodge and Country Club of Altus. Freeman was preceded in death by a son, Steven R. Freeman; his parents; a brother, James Lee Freeman and a sister-in-law, Frances Freeman. Survivors include: his wife, Marcheta Walters of Lawton; a sister, Delores Freeman of Altus; a sister, Yvonne Taylor of Arlington, Texas; a brother, Dean Freeman of Salinas, Calif. as well as many nieces and nephews. Gee LoAnn Foster Gee, 74, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Friday at Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Mangum. Gee was born Dec. 13, 1925, in El Reno to Omar Lyall Church and Zella Elvira Armold Church. She became a registered nurse in 1951, and worked as a nurse in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. She was a member of the Oklahoma Nurses Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi, Rainbow Girls, Iris Garden Club, FEC Club, AAA advisory board member, Harmon County SWODA, Director of Nurses at Hollis Convalescent Hospital, Childress General Hospital, Mangum City Hospital and Socorro General Hospital in New Mexico. She started a branch office of West Texas Home Health in Childress in 1974, started the first Meals-On-Wheels program in Childress through West Texas Home Health. She and Dr. Westenburg began the first home health care in Childress. She enjoyed collecting miniature pianos and was a member of the Methodist Church. She married Lloyd Palmer Foster on March 1, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1972. She married Henry Gee on Aug. 5, 1983. He preceded her in death in 1988. Gee is preceded in death by her father, Omar Church in 1967; her mother, Zella Church in 1998; one brother, Omar Church, Jr. in 1972; her first husband, Lloyd Foster in 1972 and her second husband, Henry Gee in 1988. Goodin Ethel Goodin, 94, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000 in a Lawton hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000 at the First Baptist Church of Roosevelt with the Rev. Dennis Yates of Lindsay and the Rev. Doug Henson, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Cemetery under the direction of the Hackney-Gish Funeral Home of Hobart. She was born Dec. 6, 1905, in Petersburg, Indian Territory, to Peter Alton and Malinda (Clark) Meekins. She attended Wichita Valley Elementary School and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1926. She lived in Roosevelt most of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She married Robert Lee "Bob" Goodin Dec. 22, 1929 in Roosevelt. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Linda Goodin of Altus; two daughters and son-in-law, Norine and Willie Jackson of Roosevelt and Linda and Jack Hash of Lawton; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Goodin Smith, Arkansas Pass, Texas; two sisters, Mary Jones, Pflugerville, Texas and Nadine Blocker of Dan Antonio; eight grandchildren and spouses, Renny and Karla Jackson, Jenny and Paul Loveless, Nancy and Mike Cooper, Mark and Sherri Goodin, Michael Goodin, Kelly Goodin, C.J. Heatly Carrie Elizabeth Byrom Heatly died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, after an extended illness. A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Mangum under the direction of Greer Funeral Home. Heatly was born Aug. 14, 1915, in Brinkman, to Luther and Clara Byrom. She was the sixth of seven children. She attended Oklahoma College for Women and the University of Oklahoma, receiving degrees in chemistry and home economics. She taught school for more than 20 years in schools in Guthrie, Vinita and Blackwell, before retiring in 1972. She was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mangum, where she taught Sunday School and participated in the United Methodist Women's Group. She was an avid reader and bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Heatly. Survivors include: a sister, Evelyn Henson of Wilmington, Del.; two sons, Richard Heatly and wife Sharon of Norman and John Heatly and wife Cindy of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Rachel and Megan Heatly of Norman and Anne and Jack Heatly of Oklahoma City; numerous nieces and nephews, including Doug Humphrey of Berkley, Calif., who Heatly helped raise. Hoffman Ruby Hoffman, 91, died Thursday at her home in Friendship. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with Darrell Barnes officiating . Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born Jan. 29, 1909 in Jackson County to John and Emma Gant. She married Walter Hoffman April 7, 1925 in Mangum. She and her husband farmed in the Friendship area for many years. She was an active member of the congregation of Jehovah's witnesses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; four brothers, Dallas Gant, Hobart, Fount Gant, and John Gant, Jr.; a sister, Bonnie Harris; great-granddaughter, Tara Farmer. Survivors by her daughter, Jackie Farmer of Altus; a sister, Margie Burson of Mineral Wells, Texas; four granddaughters, Janice Wilson and Donna Easly both of Snyder, Debbie Laney, Headrick and Tina Briscoe, Altus; seven great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Jenkins Janice Childs Jenkins, 61, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000 at her home in Altus. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the First Baptist Church in Altus with Keith Wiginton officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. She was born Feb. 11, 1939 to Jack and Mozell Hawkins. She attended Ron School north of Hollis until she married Matt Childs. She graduated from Weatherford High School and received bachelors and masters degrees from Southwestern State. She taught school for 31 years at Sunset Elementary. After the death of her first husband, Matt, she married James Jenkins in July of 1988. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends and at their lake cabin. Her other hobbies included playing golf, water skiing, reading and church activities. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Intercessory Prayer Group, Discovery Sunday Class, Round Table Book Club and the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include her husband, James, of the home; her mother, Mozell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Pam Childs and Jimmy and Susan Childs; two step-sons and two step-daughter-in-laws, Randi Jenkins and Sandi Jenkins and Mark Jenkins and Renee Jenkins; a step-daughter, Tamara Sharp and husband Leroy; seven grandchildren Candace, Austin, Holly, Jordan and Caylee Childs, Jessica Jenkins and Courtney Sharp; several aunts and many friends. The family has selected the Jackson County Hospice as appropriate for contributions in honor of Janice Childs Jenkins. Loftis J.L. Loftis, 69, died this morning at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Long Graveside services for Bessie T. Long, 100-year-old Eldorado resident will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Eldorado Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating. Arrangements are by Kincannon Funeral Home. She died Feb. 17, 2000 in the Grace Living Center in Altus. She was born July 20, 1899 in Indian Territory near what is now Thackerville to Daniel and Nancy (Austin) Hall. The family moved to Odema east of Eldorado in 1901. Her father farmed and had blacksmith shop. She married Lonnie Long Dec. 20, 1919. They made their home at Odema where they operated a farm. He died in 1961. She moved into Eldorado in 1962. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Eldorado and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, six brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include a son, Donley Long of Eldorado; two daughters, Vivian Wayne of Belleair Beach, Fla. and Imogene Robbins of Duncan; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Monzingo Linnie Sue Monzingo, 62, Ardmore, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Monty Baggett officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis. Monzingo was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Abilene, Texas, to Willie Calvin and Verna Mae Davis Monzingo. She had been a resident of Ardmore for the past nine years. She moved there from Dallas, Texas. While in Dallas, she worked as an operator for the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department. She is preceded in death by a brother, Tafford Leon Monzingo. Survivors include: a sister, Roberta Clark and a brother, Jerry Don Monzingo, both of Ardmore. She is also survived by many close friends. Myers Services for Gary L. "Red" Myers, 51, Tishomingo, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Tishomingo with the Rev. Keith Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Condon Grove Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He died Sunday at his residence. Services will be conducted by Clark Funeral Service of Tishomingo. He was born March 26, 1948 in Milburn to Clyde H. and Annie Lorene Williams Myers. He was a lifelong resident of this area and attended school in Milburn through the 11th grade. He later received his G.E.D. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict with eight years of service. He was a post commander of the VFW, a member and the "Leading Knight" of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge in Atoka and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Tishomingo. He was preceded in death by is father, Clyde H. Myers. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Myers of the home and Rachelle Myers of Mangum; his mother, Lorene Myers of Tishomingo; his mother, Lorene Myers of Tishomingo; two brothers, John Myers of Milburn and Donald Myers of North Carolina and four nieces. Newcomb JoDella (Sirmons) Newcomb died at her home Feb. 13. She was 63. Services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God, of Chandler. The Rev. Doyle Seeley officiated. Burial will be at the Oak Park Cemetery at Chandler, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. She was born Feb. 22, 1936 in Lone Grove to Benjamin Sirmons and Josephine (Pierce) Sirmons. She married Jerry Dean Newcomb on June 7, 1951 in Altus. She was a homemaker and member of First Assembly of God in Chandler for the past 10 years. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Newcomb, of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry and Celeste Newcomb, Broken Arrow, Ben and Shirley Newcomb, Chandler, Larry Newcomb, Chandler; two brothers, A.J. Sirmons, Agra and Velton Sirmons of Granite; a sister, Natalia Burnett, Nacoma, Texas; three grandchildren, Lance Newcomb, Travis Newcomb and Mark Newcomb and three great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters. Norman Claude Earl Norman, 68, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Mangum City Hospital in Mangum. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Greer Funeral Home Chapel in Mangum with the Rev. Ralph Chapman officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery of Mangum. Greer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born July 30, 1931 in Mangum to Claude Edward and Ruby Faye (Wheeler) Norman. He attended Mangum High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He married Peggy Jo Watson on Nov. 22, 1955 in Ardmore. They made their home in Mangum and he was a corrections officer for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. The family moved Laverne and lived there from 1988 until 1993. His wife, Peggy, died Feb. 6, 1993. He retired in August of 1993 as a sergeant with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. After retirement he traveled throughout the country in his motor home. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother, Ed Norman. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Shelly Norman of Edmond, Ed and Liz Norman of Mangum, Chris and Kelli Norman of Yukon; A brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Pat Norman of Hollis; a sister and brother-in-law, Lavita and Rob Overton of Houston; a sister-in-law, Jeri Norman of Mangum; ten grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Paddack Treva Lucretia Paddack, 80, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora, Calif. Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis with the Rev. David Furlow officiating. Services are under the direction of Stewart Funeral Home. Paddack was born May 12, 1919, to Vernon Lindsey and Grace Pringle Lindsey in Hollis. She worked as a schoolteacher for the West Covina School District for 35 years. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Paddack, in November of 1999. Paddack is survived by one daughter, Linda L. Whelan; one granddaughter, Johnnie Whelan Giovinetti; one grandson, Timothy Whelan; two great grandchildren, Katelyn Giovinetti and Lauren Whelan and one cousin, Charlene Shafer, all of California. Perry Elsie Perry, 77, died this morning at St. Joseph Hospital in Stockton, Calif. Funeral services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Ray Timothy Ray died Thursday, February 17, 2000 in Ponca City in a car accident. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Broughton and the Rev. Aulston Ridley officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. He was born to Barbara Ray and James Pope in Altus. He attended school in Altus where he was active in football, baseball, and basketball. He made his home in Ponca City until the time of his death. Survivors include seven children, Jessica of Altus, Kara, Janesa and LaQuayla all of Mangum, Tim Ray, Jr. of Oklahoma City and Trey and Destinee both of Ponca City.; his mother and step-father, Barbara and William Jordan of Lubbock, Texas; his father, James Pope; his wife, Peggy of Alabama; his brothers, John Ray of Altus, Joseph Taylor of Waynesburg, Penn. Williams, Ravin Pope, Sr., James H. Pope, Jr., Alvin D. Pope, all of Alabama; a sister, Kimberly Pope of Alabama; his grandmother, Julia Ray of Altus; Clyde Wilson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Joe Ray and Tom Lewis and his great-grandmother, Beatrice Lewis. Salmons Vonne Grace Salmons, 96, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Quartz Mountain Care Center. Graveside services are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home with Keith Wiginton officiating with Steve Chadwick officiating. Salmons was born Nov. 6, 1903, in Risen, Ark., to Tom and Suzanna Grace. She had lived in the Altus area for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur "Fish" Salmons; one son, Billy Gene Earls; three sisters, Ola Ross, Vestal Clark and Opal Payne; one brother, Tom Grace; a niece, Mary Jo Copeland and one nephew, Wayne Clark. Survivors include: one sister, Ann Gertrude Horton of Fort Smith, Ark.; two grandsons, Dr. David Allen Cross of Augusta, Ga. and Larry Joe Cross of Houston, Texas; one nephew, Charles Clark of Oklahoma City and several nieces, nephews and other friends. Seay Roy Ernest Seay, 74, Texarkana, Texas, and former Headrick resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, in Texarkana. Burial will be at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home of Lone Wolf. Seay was born May 15, 1925, in Haworth, to H.H. and Lena M. Garrison Seay. He was in the Army, serving his country for 18 years and serving in World War II. He married Lillie Coy on May 7, 1965, in Vernon, Texas. He worked for the City of Altus Street and Water Departments for many years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge of Altus. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 33 years, Lillie; two sisters, Bertie Mae Warren and Mary Francis Earhart and one brother, Jimmy L. Seay. Survivors include: two brothers, Willie Seay Luiden, Texas and Leon Seay of Dangerfield, Texas; two sisters, Velma Jamison of Henderson, Texas and Ozeta Blythe of Mangum; children, Margaret Sherwood and husband Melvin of Altus, Alice Reopelle and husband Bob of Sacremento, Calif., Frances Wells and husband Ralph of Monticello, Ark., Curtis Perry of Altus, Larry Perry and wife Deanna of Sallisaw and Nelda Cable of Altus; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Slaton Comer Leon Slaton, 70, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at a Fort Worth care center. Private family services and interment is scheduled. Memorials may be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church. He was the owner Snelling of Snelling for 30 years before his retirement. Slaton was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Corinne Eubanks Slaton. Survivors include: a brother, W. Leo Slaton of Austin, Texas and a sister, Zuma J. Austin, of Amarillo, Texas. Waller Billy Don Waller, Sr., 36, died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Mangum City Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at Greer Funeral Home Chapel in Mangum. Officiating was the Rev. John Robles. Interment was at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home. Waller was born March 4, 1964, in Altus, to Albert Lee and Edna Miller Waller. He worked in construction and was a crane operator. In 1980, he moved to Mangum from Alabama, where he had lived for two years. He was affiliated with the Baptist church. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include: his mother, Edna Waller of Oxford, Wis.; his wife, Joann Mills Waller and two sons, Billy Don Waller, Jr. and Kevin Waller, all of Mangum; three brothers, Albert Waller, Lubbock, Texas, Robert Waller, Monitel, Wis. and Grady Waller, Hollis. Wilkerson Juanita Conwell Wilkerson, 85-year-old Altus resident, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Altus City Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Pate officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Wilkerson was born Jan. 4, 1915, in Altus, and has been a resident of Altus all her life. She was the daughter of C.K. and Ethel Bryce Conwell, long time photographers and business partners in The Conwell Studio and Book Nook here in Altus. She attended the old East Ward (Washington) Elementary School, the old Junior High School, located on west Pecan Street, the old Senior High School located in the 200 block of East Broadway and the new Senior High School, located on Park Avenue, graduating with the Class of 1932. She attended Altus Junior College (now Western Oklahoma State College) located in the Altus Senior High School at that time, graduating with the Class of 1934. She then attended the University of Oklahoma and received a bachelor of science degree in education, graduating with the Class of 1937. Wilkerson married Merle W. Wilkerson in Altus on Sept. 25, 1938. They had two children, a son, Kenneth; and a daughter, Susan, both educated in the Altus School System. She was a schoolteacher by profession. She taught school at the old Friendship School in 1937 and 1938 and taught 18 years at the old Central Junior High, retiring in 1973. Wilkerson was a member of the National Education Association, the Oklahoma Education Assocition, the Altus Literary Club, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, the American Association of Retired Persons and a member of the First United Methodist Church for more than 80 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, J.C. and a sister, Avahlene Conwell Bristol. She is survived by her husband, Merle of Altus; a son, Kenneth Wilkerson and his wife Jerrie; a daughter, Susan E. Blue of Tulsa; four wonderful grandsons, Scott Wilkerson and his wife Anna, Rick Wilkerson and his wife Sandi and Patrick Blue, all of Tulsa, Michael M. Blue and his wife Jill of Edmond; four great grandsons, Shane Tyler and Vann Wilkerson, Austin Blue and a great granddaughter, India Wilkerson, all of Tulsa; one niece, Boni Bristol King of Altus. Winstead Funeral services for John Benjamin Winstead, 78, of Chickasha will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000 in the First Christian Church. The Rev. James T. Moore, Jr. of Arkansas will officiate. He was born Aug. 29, 1921 at Oklahoma City to Agnes Baxter Jackman Winstead and John Benjamin Winstead. He married Erma Leona Reyburn April 20, 1943,. He attended Redland Junior College in El Reno. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was Staff Sgt. at Enid Air Force Base before he joined the Air Transport Command Hickam Field in Oahu, Hawaii. He on the Salvation Army Board of Directors. He was a member the Chickasha Jaycess where he served as president He was a member of the Chickasha Lions Club and the Altus Lions Club. He was active in the First Christian Church in each of the communities where he lived. Survivors include his wife, Erma of the home; his mother, Agnes Jackman Winstead of Chickasha; several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. Yeager Funeral services for Gerald D. Yeager, Sr., 62, Altus, are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kincannon Chapel with the Rev. Boyd Whitehead and the Rev. Everett Smalts officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Yeager died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Yeager was born Oct. 14, 1937, in Quinlan, to Delford and Ada Dodge Yeager. He attended high school in Mount Hope, Kan. and completed two years in the Air Force Community College. He married Joyce Prather on Feb. 14, 1959, in El Paso, Texas. He had a 26-year Air Force career from 1955 until his retirement as a master sergeant in 1981. His decorations included the Meritorious Service Medal, one Oakleaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, three Oakleaf Clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbons, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award, one Silver Oakleaf Cluster and one Oakleaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Army one Oakleaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and three Oak Leaf Cluster. he was involved in the retail, rent-to-own and video rental business for the past 17 years in the Park Lane Shopping Center. he and his wife Joyce were full owners of the business the past two years. He was a longtime member of the Emmanual Baptist Church. He enjoyed football, yardwork, playing with his dog. He was preceded in death by his father, Delford Yeager. Survivors include: his wife Joyce of the home; a daughter, Karen Lynn Yeager Smalts and husband Jerry Dale, Bethany; three sons, Gerald D.
