Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mangum Church of God with the Rev. Samuel Studer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Funeral Services. Anderson was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Arizona, to Herschel and Mamie Langston. She lived in Mangum for four years. She was a member of the Mangum Church of God. Survivors include: five children, Kenneth Pierce and his wife Sharon of Mesa, Ariz., James Pierce and his wife Donita, also of Mesa, Renda Rodriguez and her husband John of Chandler, Ariz. and Brian Pierce, also of Chandler; her mother, Mamie Alexander of Mangum; three brothers, Paul Langston of Orange Grove, Calif., Charlie Langston of Oklahoma City and Bobby Langston of San Angelo, Texas; two sisters, Ola Mae Cartwright, Mangum and Connie Langston of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven granddaughters; six grandsons and one great granddaughter. Baker Dolores Ann Baker, Altus, died Sunday after a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with Father Joseph Jacobi as the celebrant. Arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 12, 1930 to Paul and Regina Williams of Tulsa. She attended Holy Family High School, graduating in 1948 and attended Oklahoma A&M College, where she graduated with Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology and Elementary Education. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She married Boy "Pappy" Baker in October, 1952 at Norman, Tulsa and Claremore before moving to Altus in 1962. She worked in her husband's law office for five years before being employed by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in 1968 as a social worker. She served as social worker, supervisor and retired in 1993 after serving as county director for 13 years. She served on the foundation boards for ACMI House for battered women's shelter and the Tumbleweed Work Center. She served many years on the boards of Southwest Community Action and Head Start. Her hobbies included reading, dancing and taking trips with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Boyd, of the home; a son, Michael Brett Baker, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Kerry Lebowitz and her husband, Marc, Richmond Va.; three brothers, Bob Williams, Aurora, Colo., Paul Williams and wife, Donna, Tulsa, Lee Williams and wife, Ellie of Toledo, Ohio; a granddaughter, Tausha Baker; an aunt, Bernice Mathews, Advance, N.C.; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Barber LAWTON-Funeral services for Raymond P. (Ray) Barber, 78, of Lawton, were held at 1 p.m. today at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Elder Glen Williams, Primitive Baptist Church of Eldorado, officiating. Burial was at Walters Cemetery with military honors. Barber died Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Mangum City Hospital. Barber was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Wheeler, Texas. He grew up in Shamrock, Texas. He married Hazel Akin on Nov. 18, 1941, in Walters. He served in the Army from September of 1942 until November of 1945. He was a veteran of World War II and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one silver service star, World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal with Germany clasp. He worked for Raulston Furniture as a salesman for 30 years. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church for 45 years, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5263 and was an avid golfer. Barber was preceded in death by a grandchild, Kendall Barber; six brothers, Pearson, Earl, Charley, Gene, Alvie and Walter and a sister, Mary Gibbins. Survivors include: his wife of the home; a son, Fred Barber and his wife Nell of Chickasha; a daughter, Paula Willis and her husband Jim, of Blair; a sister, Pear Parker of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Todd, Chad and Suzanne Willis, Carol and Pamela Barber; three great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Barnes Wanda Lynne Barnes, 84, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, in Huntsville, Texas. Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Martha Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Burr officiating. She graduated from Martha High School and earned a degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. She taught school in Martha, Vernon, Texas and Brownsville, Texas. She married Cleatus Gammill and later married Ennos Barnes. Both her husbands preceded her in death. She was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors include: two sons, James E. Gammill, Huntsville, Texas and Jimmy Barnes of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Doris Evans of Greensboro, N.C. and Charlsie Pricer of Wichita Falls, Texas; four grandchildren, Hudson "Bucky" Gammill, Gina Allen, Tina Gammill and Jessie Barnes and three great grandchildren. Bruce Kevin Francis Bruce, 31, died Sunday at his home in Norman. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Norman. Pastor John Gifford will officiate. He was born Sept. 16, 1968 in Showlow, Ariz and grew up at Guam. After graduating high school in Guam, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Sill and German before returning to Altus. He married his wife, Angie, Dec. 18, 1988 in Altus. He moved to Norman where he attended the University of Oklahoma and Moor-Norman technology Center. Survivors include his wife, Angie; two children, Justin and Racheal; parents, Rachel and Gene Bruce of Conroe, Texas; a brother, Donald and his wife Cathy, of San Diego; a sister, Janine and husband Bill Mills, of Vineland, N.J.; his mother-n-law and father-in-law, Julia and Tommy Revilla of Altus; a sister-in-law, Rachel Revilla of Altus; three nieces; three nephews; two grandmothers and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Cansler Lillie Belle Hendricks Cansler, 84, died Friday at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Hollis. Services were held today at the Hollis Church of Christ with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial followed at the McKnight Cemetery and was under the direction of Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis. She was born Nov. 12, 1915 to Roy and Gracie Hendricks at Hugo. She graduated from Hollis High School in 1937 and she married A.R. "Bob" Cansler Jan. 21, 1939 at the home of Earl Breechen in Hollis. She was an active member at the Churches of Christ in Shrewder, Gould, and Hollis. She donated many hours mending clothes and making james and jellies for the Westview Boys Home. Her hobbies included gardening and being outdoors. Masters of Hollis and five great-grandchildren. Collins Wayne Jess Collins, 82, Warren, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, from his home. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Blair with the Rev. S.K. Robinson officiating. Burial followed at the Warren Cemetery. Collins was born Oct. 29, 1917, in Tipton, to Paul S. and Lena Pearl (Adams) Collins. He graduated from Lainge School, near Tipton. He spent his childhood on a farm near Tipton. He married Juanita E. Melton on Jan. 20, 1940, in Hobart. They raised their family in southwest Oklahoma. Collins began working as a farmer, later becoming a mechanic for 18 years in the Altus area. He was co-owner of the Ford dealership in Tipton for several years. He then became an insurance agent until 1964. For the next several years, he owned two service stations in Altus as well as a trucking company. For the remainder of his career he was employed by Southwest Seed Delinting, retiring from there three years ago. He was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Blair and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and being outdoors near the water. Collins was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, LaVern Herman Collins and a daughter, Glenna Sue Collins Sanchez. Burial was at the Tipton Cemetery with Tipton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Cortez died July 4,2000, from injuries suffered in a car accident in Canon City, Colo. He was born September 25, 1981, in Crookston, Minn., the son of Mario Cortez, Sr. and Maria Irene Garza. He was a junior at Tipton High School and was in electronics at Frederick Vo-Tech. Dabbs Arnold Maurice Dabbs, 84, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at Harmon Memorial Hospital in Hollis. Funeral services are set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Patterson-Greer Chapel with Dr. Clem Dozer officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Patterson-Greer Funeral Home. Dabbs was born May 11, 1916, in Arlie, Texas, to R.C. and Virgie Conrad Dabbs. He was raised in Hollis and later moved to Dallas, where he was employed by Cargill's Grain Elevator for a number of years before retiring in 1976. He moved back to Hollis in 1980 to be near his sister, Mildred Edmonson. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leroy Dabbs; two sisters, Vera Duvall and Odessa Dabbs and an infant son, Charles Ray Dabbs. Dawson Sherril Ford Dawson, 38, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Services were held today at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Altus with the Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 30, 1961 in Altus to Ray and Bonetta (Brady) Ford. She attended Altus Schools and graduated from Altus High School in 1979. She also obtained a paralegal degree. She was a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines for five years and recently was the secretary for the Altus Farm Bureau. She was a member of the Harvest Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas and attended the First Baptist Church of Altus. Her hobbies included spending time with her boys, reading, riding horses, and dancing. She was also an organ donor. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Ford and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Milligan and Mr and Mrs. Ed Ford. Fikes was born December 4, 1918 in Hollis. He married Rita Mozelle Smith on May 29, 1940, in Gould. He was a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Fikes was a manager of various supermarkets. He worked for over 20 years as a sales representative for Morrell Meat Packaging Company. He loved being with his family, gardening and remodeling. He was raised on the farm by his parents, Albert and Icy (Cox) Haas. He married Florence Marie McCumber in 1950. Two sons were born to the couple, Dick and Jimmy Haas. His wife died in 1962, leaving him to raise his two sons. He married Faye Byrd on Nov. 23, 1990, in Vernon, Texas. He was a lifelong farmer and his hobby was working in his flower garden. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. He was born on July 21, 1918, in McKinney, Texas, to George William and Lucy Cornelia (Newcomb) Little. He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1947. He served with the Headquarters company, 3rd Battalion, 184th Infantry Regiment. He was wounded in action during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. On July 21, 1945, in Humphreys, Bill and Wynola Hughes were united in marriage. He farmed for many years in the Jackson County area before retiring. He was an active member of the Southside Baptist Church, where he served as one of the first deacons of the church and was song leader of the worship services. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Edna Keene. She was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers, Lloyd, Jack and Wayne Holmes; and a son-in-law, Bog Fogel. Survivors include a daughter, June Fogel of Altus; two sisters, Erie Henderson of Altus and Lucille Catlin of Enid; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Martin was born May 12, 1909, at Hampshire County, Massachusetts, to Frederick Ashley and Nellie Dickson Smith Martin. She graduated from Milford High School in 1926. She served in the Women's Army Corp from May 1943 until November 1945. She served at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Sutton Coldfield and Vitry sur Scine. She received her bachelor's and mater's degrees from Ohio University and taught at Evansville University, St. Cloud University and at Cameron University. Martin was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George Abel Martin and sisters, Alice Sibyl Martin and Doris Jane Martin Mathews. McElroy Lawrence McElroy, 90, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Their mother, at the age of 61 has died. She was born Aug. 23, 1938 in Richmond Hill, N.Y., first generation born to German-Irish family in the United States. In life, Mama enjoyed the capabilities of the human mind, spirit, and life itself. She was employed by Jackson County Memorial Hospital until 1988 at which time she suffered a stroke and was not able to work. Mama was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sons. She is survived by five children, fifteen grandchildren. Our mother, Ann will be missed and leaves a legacy of Strong will, Love, and faith. Mama is no longer suffering from the limitations left her from the stroke but instead she is singing in the Glory and Wonders of Heaven. Paid obituary Putman Leta Mae Putman, 70, died Friday, June 30, 2000, in the Bryan County Manor in Durant. Putman was born February 9, 1930 in Hester, Oklahoma to Melvin and Nova (Smith) Putman. She lived in the Hester community and attended both the Hester and Mangum schools. She enjoyed playing the piano. She was a resident of the Bryan County Manor for the last 17 years of her life. Her grandparents, James B. and Zora (Wallace) Smith were Hester pioneers, both being very active in Greer County church and community life. She was preceded in death be her parents, grandparents and her uncle, James Denzil Smith. She is survived by a number of cousins. Rodriquez Phil Rodriquez, Jr., 44, of Altus, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at his home. Rodriquez was born Aug. 18, 1955, to Conception "Phil" Sr. and Margarita Jimenez Rodriquez, in Salina, Kan. He attended Altus Schools, graduating from Altus High School in 1973. He also obtained an associate of arts degree in computer programming from Condie College in San Jose, Calif. He had worked for the City of Altus in the data processing department for 22 years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed raising, training and riding horses. Rodriquez was preceded in death by his mother, Margarita Rodriquez and his sister, Rosalie Madrid. He graduated from Martha High School and married Eva Mae Truitt in the First Baptist Church in Altus, December 12, 1939. He had farmed and ranched in Jackson County all his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed raising cattle and working the hay fields. He also made many friends over the years by supplying vegetables out of his large garden and fruit out of his orchards. He cherished his children, grandchildren and church friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Lillie Mae Russell, a sister, Leta Loveless and two brothers, W.D. and Claude Russell. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Caudell and Linda Williams, Altus; a son Buck Russell and wife Joyce, Altus; one brother, Caroll Streetman, Nachadaouches, Texas; one sister Mattie Lee Russell, Altus; seven grandchildren, eight great children and many friends. Taylor Donny C. Taylor, age 47 of Mangum, passed away at his home, June 30, 2000. Taylor was born November 21, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to Bud and Thelma (Finney) Taylor. On December 3, 1986, in Paris, Texas, he and Jacquelyn Greb were united in marriage. He had lived in the Greer and Jackson County area since 1997. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and trips to Red River. Most of all he enjoyed the precious time he spent with his family and friends. Taylor worked in the funeral industry for many years. He considered this his ministry, and he always wanted to help anyone at any time. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mangum. Memorial service is scheduled for Monday, July 3, at 2:30 p.m. in the Greer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Pitson officiating. A graveside service will be held in Paris, Texas, on July 8 at Evergreen Cemetery at 2 p.m. The family requests that donations be made to Integris Baptist Medical Center Foundation, attention 1107470, mark for liver research, 3300 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73112. Arrangements are under the direction of the Greer Funeral Home. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents.
