Forum and she enjoyed studying the Bible and attending church functions. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Germinal Avila in 1998; daughters Loran and Betty Avila and sons Herman Avila, Jr. and Robert Lee Avila. Konen Dollye M. Konen, 67, Altus, died Friday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Sewell officiating. Burial was to follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born Aug. 28, 1934 in Vernon, Texas, to Guy L. and Betrice A. (Shores) Turkett. She graduated from Vernon High School in 1952. She met and later married Robert Konen on May 1, 1954 in Amarillo, Texas. To this union two children were born. She worked as a homemaker. She served as President of the Altus Women's Bowling Association. She loved watching movies and television and swimming at the city pool with the pool gang. She was preceded in death by her parents. Konen of Altus and Cody D. Konen of Altus, many nieces, nephews and friends. Morgan Lois Owings Morgan, 96, Lefors, Texas died Wednesday. He lived in Mangum all of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mangum and was a self-employed mechanic. JULY 3: Horton Rena Horton died Tuesday at her home in Hollis. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Nazarene in Dodson, Texas with the Rev. Tyrone Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. She was born Sept. 28, 1910 in McKinney, Texas to R.D. and Dolly Kirby. She was one of 13 who all preceded her in death. She married W.R. (Doc) Horton May 9, 1929. He died on Feb. 2, 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hollis where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Eastern Star serving in the capacity of Worthy Matron. Her hobbies included gardening, playing dominoes with her friends, and she and her husband were major contributors to the Hollis Rodeo Arena. She is survived by one daughter, Beth Horton and one son, Jimmy Horton, grandchildren, Gregg Brown, Shane Newkirk, Tammy Horton and Carmen Horton; two great-grandchildren, Will Brown and Breana Newkirk. He was a life long resident of southwest Oklahoma, where he was self employed as a bail bondsman for several years in Altus. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill Adams. Hardesty Marsha Craig Hardesty 61, of Arlington, Texas, died June 16 in Memorial Hospital, Arlington, Texas. She was born Nov. 5, 1940 in Lawton to Hylton and Neva Jo Crain. Warren was born Nov. 10, 1910 in Thornton, Texas to Bernard A. and Mary Lela (Harper) Steele. He graduated from Altus High School in May of 1930. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard as a 2nd Lieutenant. He married Bera Faye Swilling on Oct. 20, 1936 in Los Angeles, California. To this union a son was born. During World War II, Warren worked at the Mare Island Shipyard. In 1948, the Steele family returned home to Altus to run their own business. Warren then worked for Garrett and Herron Furniture Store for three years and then George C. Wright Lumber Co. until his retirement in 1972. He loved his church, First Presbyterian Church of Altus and served as an elder for many years. He taught Sunday School and enjoyed reading, especially Zane Grey and was an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bera; one sister and one brother. He lived and worked in Harmon County where he was a farmer and rancher. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He also served on the school board for Westview and Arnett schools. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. JULY 11: Crosby Ted Crosby, 71, died Tuesday at his home in Blair. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Erick First Baptist Church with Ted Snyder and T.J. Willingham officiating. Burial will be at Mayfield Cemetery under the direction of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home. He was born Sept. 13, 1930 in Erick to Winnie and Preston Crosby. He grew up in Erick and attended school at Erick and Mayfield. He married Wanda Juanell Shirley at Wheeler, Texas on Aug. 3, 1949. They lived north of Erick on the Davis Ranch where he worked until moving to Blair in 1955. He worked for the Ford dealership in Altus when they moved to Altus and he began his career with the Altus Fire Department. He retired in 1980 as assistant fire chief. He and his wife traveled for a few years before returning to Blair in 1988 to make their home. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Brian Peterson of Altus; two grandsons, Ted Snyder and wife Christa of Kuna, Idaho and Michale Snyder and wife Melisa of Blair; one great grandson, Joshua Snyder; a brother, Gene Crosby of Erick; many relatives and friends. Gresham Luke W. Gresham, 83, of Bethany died Wednesday. Graveside services, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus, are set for 10 a.m. Friday at the Altus City Cemetery The Rev. T.O Parsons will officiate. He was born Feb. 24, 1919 at Altus, to L.H. and Carrie Anderson Gresham, the youngest of four children. He spent most of his life on the family farm near Altus. Despite being born deaf, he enjoyed playing and working on the farm. As a child he attended the Altus Church of the Nazarene and continued to practice his faith as an adult. At the age of six, he started attending the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur. During his tenure at the school, he excelled and graduated in the normal amount of time. After graduation, he moved back to the Altus area and worked on the family farm. Declining eyesight, along with deafness, eventually made him unable to work on the farm. In 1979, he moved in with his sisters Eunice and Josephine in Bethany to be near their brother Paul. He is survived by his brother Paul Gresham of Bethany and his nephews Loren and Danny Gresham. JULY 12: Allen Dorothy Joe Allen, 80, of Lake Creek, died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Lake Creek Baptist Church with C.R. Tucker and Alvin Funkhouser officiating. Burial will follow at the Granite City Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf. She was born Nov. 19, 1921 in Eldorado to Carey F. and Florence E. (Hines) Cotton. She attended Eldorado Schools and Altus Junior College, graduating the day before she was married. She married Lee Allen May 18, 1941 at Eldorado. He preceded her in death Oct. 14, 2001. She was active in the "Home Demonstration Club" having won blue ribbons in the county fair for her canning. She enjoyed plants and worked side by side with her husband during the wheat harvest. She joined Lake Creek Baptist Church in 1941, after her marriage, and was very active in church and community activities. She taught Sunday school and Bible drills. Some of her students went on to become national champions. She was a community nurse and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, Casey and Florence; her husband Lee; daughter Sharon Kay Allen; son Carey Lee Allen; and an infant daughter. She is survived by son Terry Lee Allen of Edmond; daughters Flo Jean Whitehead of Cheyenne and Dorothy Linda Allen of Sunrise Beach, Texas; five grandchildren, Sharon Daniel, Ryan Reed, Bradley Reed, David Crow and Janna Crow; eight great-grandchildren, John, Michael, Hayley and Madison Daniel and Alyssa, Ashley and Larry Reed. She was known affectionately as "Faye Mama" by her family and friends. She worked in the home, raising her children, on the farm with her husband, and also as a dietitian at Harmon Memorial Hospital for 32 years. She enjoyed sewing and made many quilts for her family and friends. She was born Oct. 23, 1904, in Waco, Texas to Marlin L. and Cynthia (Gray) Loftis. She came to Tillman County at an early age, and had lived there the rest of her life. She married John A. Perryman, in Frederick, in March of 1927. She worked at the hospital as a cook, and at Betsy Bra. She worked as a housekeeper and did ironing for people. She was also a caregiver for her mother for years, until her death. She was a member of the Church of Christ, where she baptized at the age of 16. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers, Coy, Luther, and Albert Loftis; sister Edna Morton, nephews Jim Watson and L.B. JULY 14: Haines Doctor H.M. Haines, DVM, 81, long time Altus area veterinarian, died Friday July 12, 2002 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Chapel at the Kincannon Funeral Home with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Harold Monroe Haines was born Nov. 22, 1920 in Wilson, Kan. to Charles E. and Terry Theresa (Spunaugle) Haines. He graduated high school at Winfield, Kan. in 1938. He then attended and graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan. He entered the Army in 1943. The United States government paid for him to got to veterinary school because they needed meat inspectors. He was released from the Army after 14 months. He married Eunice M. McCreary on July 13, 1944 in Winfield, Kansas. To this union, three children were born. Dr. Haines was the first veterinarian in southwest Oklahoma. He arrived in Altus in 1946 to inspect meat at the slaughter house for the government. He would continue to for over 30 years. There were over two hundred dairies in the area. They moved into a garage apartment on North Hudson and Mrs. Haines would assist with surgeries which were performed on the dining room table. They bought the current location in 1947. They operated a large and small animal practice and went on many "Country Calls" to assist farmers with sick animals. When Craterville Amusement Park was at Lake Altus, Dr. Haines was called to remove a tumor from an elephant's mouth. When he returned to Altus, a woman with a sick parakeet was waiting to see him. He also operated the dog pound for the City of Altus. He served as Past President of Elks Lodges, Past President of Panhandle Veterinary Association and Secretary of the Shortgrass Veterinary Association. He enjoyed farming, especially raising cattle, camping, hunting, reading and traveling. He was a member of the Altus Roundup Club and the Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Eunice Haines in February of 2001, and his parents. His brother, Dr. Charles E. Haines DVM, passed away just two hours after Harold in Mt. Home Ark. He is survived by his two daughters, Terry Adams and husband Mike of Altus and Kerry Charlton of Aloha, Ore.; his son Ki Haines of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law Marge Haines of Mt. Home, Ark.; two grandchildren, Marcie Kelly and husband Tom of Stillwater and Jeana Moon and husband Stuart of Aloha, Ore; four great-grandchildren, Gage and Alexis Kelty and Whittney and Abi Moon. JULY 15: Ary Karen Jean Ary, of Eldorado, died Sunday. Arrangements are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus. Berrong Corina Mae Ber-rong, 62, Fulton, Tex-as, died on July 4 in Houston, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday the Altus Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Altus. The chapel address is 1510 San Ann Drive. She was born in Duke and attended Altus Schools. She attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She was married and raised her family in Weatherford. Her hobbies included traveling, family history research, wedding photography and interior decorating. She taught classes SWOSU, and after moving to Utah, retired as a reservation clerk for Southwest Airlines. She is survived by her companion, George Marion, of Fulton, Texas; parents Richard and Mae Watts of Temple, Texas; sisters Gereta Murphy of Altus and Pat Esralian of Gunter, Texas; children Pamela Cronk of Wellston, Suzanne Berrong of Adonna, Turkey, Brian Berrong of South Weber, Utah and Stewart Berrong of Weatherford. She was preceded in death by her father Leroy Shipley. He enjoyed playing baseball when he was in school and listening to country music. He attended Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Francis; his wife, Mary Agnes; two brothers and one sister. JULY 17: Solomon Maria Hernandez Solomon, 50, Martha, died Monday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was born March 10, 1952 in Plainview, Texas to Frank Garcia Hernandez and Maria Gaudalupe (Rodriguez) Hernandez She was a lifelong resident of the Martha Community. She is survived by her husband Raymond Solomon of the home; two children, Krystal Gaudalupe and Reynaldo Solomon, also of the home. She went to an Indian boarding school in Sallisaw from the age of two until her marriage to Cecil James Robinson. He preceded her in death. She married Johnnie Yancey in Purcell on Jan. 28, 1956. They made their home in Oklahoma where they both worked for the civil service at Tinker Air Force Base. They moved to Blair in 1995 to be close to their daughter and son-in-law, Billie and James Decker. She was a member of the South Minister Church in Oklahoma City where she was very active in all of the church functions. She was a member of the American Bible Society and participated in the Mobile Meals program. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, antique stores, garage sales, swimming at the YMCA and was an avid Oklahoma Sooners football fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Johnnie Yancey; a grandson, Michael Butler, and two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her four daughters. She and her husband moved to Plainview in 1960 where he was Coronado band director and she was a school secretary for the Plainview Public Schools for 16 years. He remained her lover, friend, companion, and caretaker the rest of her life. She was a member of the first Baptist Church of Hollis. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, DL & Ray Jones; and two sisters, Baby Avis Jones & Loree Neville. They made their home in Russell Community. They moved to the Mangum area in 1961. Her husband died May 15, 1992. On December 19, 1993 she married Warren Burt. She, a very active individual was involved in her church and her community. She was a member of First Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher, often helped in Church Camps, and a member of the church choir. She was active in Eastern Star, Women Civic Club, and Broadmen S.W. Community Action. In her earlier years she worked as a cook in Centralvue School, Mangum School Library Aid, Chamber of Commerce secretary and curator. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Livingston, her second husband, Warren Burt and her parents. Laing Delbert Autry Laing, 63, of Amarillo, Texas died Monday in Amarillo following a sudden illness. Graveside funeral services will at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Tipton Cemetery with Rev. He was born to Charlie and Margie (Callaham) Laing on October 4, 1938 in Port Arthur, Texas. He moved to Tipton, Oklahoma at an early age and attended Tipton schools, graduating in 1957. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma on a football scholarship. He worked as a carpenter in the construction industry in Dallas, Texas for many years. He moved to Amarillo in 1990. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Tipton. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cybil Goodwin. He is survived by two sons: Kyle Stoney Laing, Alpine, Texas and Levi Laing of Manitou, Oklahoma; three daughters and two son-in-laws: Dana Laing; Michael and Kasie Dobson, Kingsville, Texas and Josh and Devan Dellenbach, Greensburg, Kansas; three brothers and sister-in-laws: Glen and Judy Laing, Amarillo, Texas, Max and Gail Laing, Wichita Falls, Texas and Chuck Laing, Hereford, Texas; two sisters: Wilma Conklin, Scottsdale, Arizona and Eulene Killion, Dallas; two grandchildren: Ashlyn Taylor Dobson and Sydney Nicole Laing. Murphy John Murphy, 84, died Wednesday. Services are pending at Kincannon Funeral Home. Roberts Julius Roberts, 86, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas died July 4 at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. Services were held on July 7, 2002 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ralph DeVore. Services were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs. He was born to Tillman Roberts and Martha Jane McCarty Roberts in Antlers, Oklahoma, April 15, 1916. He had been an area residents since 1959 and a former resident of Altus. He was a retired businessman and realtor. He was a member of I.O.O.F. and a Baptist. His wife of 60 years, Minnie Lee Rollins Roberts preceded him in death April 16, 2002. Survivors include his son, John and Wilma Roberts, Siloam Springs; three daughters; Robert and Leona Baxter, Altus; Vernon and Judy Reams, Gentry, Arkansas; Jim and Marilyn Meeker, Siloam Springs; one sister, Betty Chapman, California; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pesina Rosa S. Pesina, 74, of Frederick died July 23 in Frederick. A prayer service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Gray Gish Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Harper officiating. She was born August 31, 1927, Coin City, Texas. She married Victor Pesina in Tillman County in 1947. The family moved to Frederick in 1963. Her days were filled being a loving mother to her thirteen children and grandmother to over 100 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church, Frederick. She is survived by her husband, Victor of the home; seven sons: Rudy Apolinar, Alex, Victor, Jr., Johnny, and Tomas Pesina, all of Frederick and George and Gabriel, Texas; six daughters: Dora, Alicia, and Yolanda Pesina, Lupe Perez, all of Frederick and Mary Jane and Rosa Pesina, Texas; three brothers, Rudy, Tomas and Manuel Sanchez, Texas; her sisters: Paula and Alicia Sanchez, Texas; forty-nine grandchildren and fifty-five great grandchildren. Wallis Ethel Wallis, 96, of Frederick died Wednesday at Wichita Falls Hospital, Texas. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at First United Church with Rev. She was born to Henry B. and Georgia Ann (Lewis) Amyx in Morgan County, Kentucky, August 3, 1905. She came to Tillman County near the Hollister and Loveland area at the age of two in 1907. She attended schools at Loveland and graduated from high school in 1924. She received her teaching certificate from Central State Teachers College. She taught school for nine years at Pleasant Ridge and Victory (consolidated #11). She married A.D. "Slick" Wallis on May 17, 1931 in Frederick, and they moved to Frederick in the 1940's. He preceded her in death February 27, 1992. She was initiated in the Order of Eastern Star on November 25, 1925, Loveland. She was a past Matron of the Eastern Star Frederick #203 and received her 50-year pin in 1975. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Frederick where she was very active in the Miriam Circle, WSCS, later UMW serving as treasure. Also, she was a member of the Friendship Class and the Homer Tilly Sunday School Classes. She loved her church and was faithful in giving of all of her resources. Her hobbies include gardening and playing bridge, which she did right up until her death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and riding horses. She was a member of the Warren Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Christine; her husband, John; a son, Ray Bitz and one grandson, Calvin Bitz. Murphy J.B. "John" Murphy, 84, Altus, died Wednesday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Altus City Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. He was Oct. 24, 1917 in Hess to Ben F. and Fannie Mae (Wallace) Murphy. He graduated from Southside High School. He married Nannie Pearl Shook on Dec. 3, 1938 at the First Baptist Church of Altus. He worked for the MKT Railroad for 38 years as an engineer. He was a Mason, a member of the Woodmen of the World and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed spending time with all of his family and especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nannie Pearl Murphy; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sheridan Murphy, Altus; Bonita and Jackie Combs, Altus; Janet and Mike Scheller, Seminole; one brother and sister-in-law, Edsel and Flo Murphy, Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Tonya Deines, Michael and Angela Combs, Lana Pyle, Stacy Johnson and Brian Scheller; six great-grandchildren, Allison, Ashley, Dacye, Whitney, Tyler and Sammy; one great-great-grandchild, Talon and many friends. (Clancey) Allen. He attended school in Warren. He married Hellen Anderson Dec. 18, 1932 in Lone Wolf. She died July 18, 2002. He worked for Caterpillar as a heavy equipment operator for several years and lived in California and Nevada. He enjoyed working in the yard. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hellen; four sisters, Lillie, Minnie, Susie and Ella; and two brothers, Onzel and George. Sampson Earl James Sampson, 73, of Fall River, Kan., died Saturday at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Campbell-Kelley Funeral Home in Eureka, Kan. The Rev. Byron Barrientez, pastor of the Wichita Church of Christ, officiated. Burial followed in Piedmont, Kan. Cemetery. He was born Feb. 13, 1929 at Connorville, to Iveland Tony and Hazel Fern (Schultz) Sampson. He was raised in Connorville and attended schools there. The family moved to New Mexico for a short time before moving to western Oklahoma and residing in the Reed area where he farmed. He married Ima Lee Perrin at Wellington, Texas on Aug. 16, 1948. They moved to Wichita later that year to make their home where he and his brother founded Sampson Brothers Drywall Construction Company. He retired in 1991 and moved to Fall River, Kan. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Haysville and the Coon Hunters Association. He is survived by his wife Ima Lee of the home in Fall River; sons Ronnie and Roy Sampson, both of Piedmont, and Tony Sampson of Wichita; daughters Judy Woodman of Wichita, Michelle Mitchell of Houston, Texas, Lisa Ann Wise of Clearwater and Lori Culbertson of Piedmont; brother, Hairl Sampson of Climax, Kan.; sisters Willie Gordon of Wichita and Ann Brotherton of Olympia, Wash; 10 grandchildren and 13-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Jeanne Gelnar, Altus, Barbara Arnold, Burkburnett, Texas, Peggy Ramage, Topeka, Kan.; two brothers-in-law, Joe Perrin, Dallas, Texas and Troy Perin, Bull Shoals, Ark. He was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Thalia, Texas to Thomas P. and Bertha Viola Hardage Bell. He married Robbie Bell on March 31, 1945 in Frederick. He graduated from Vernon High School and was a resident of Wilbarger County for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years; was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vernon, Lions Club, Vernon Masonic Lodge; Shriner's of Lubbock. He is survived by his wife, Robbie Bell of Vernon; three sons, Richard Bell and Chris Bell, both of Vernon, and Tim Bell of Dalhart, Texas; a daughter, Laurie Lohr of Atlanta, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ray Dean Bell. The family will be at 2211 Clair Dr. in Vernon. Conway Thomas Martin "Pete" Conway, of Granite, died Friday. He was born March 22, 1933 in Hobart to Clifford Conway and Ruby Lou Snow Conway. He attended school in Lone Wolf and Wichita, Kan. He served in the U.S. Marines in Korea. He married Grace Dennison. He went to work at the Oklahoma State Reformatory as a correctional officer during that time. He attended Western Oklahoma State College and took some courses at Oklahoma State University. He taught upholstery at the reformatory at Granite and received several awards for his work. He worked at Granite from 1971 until 1997. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Patricia Williams; a brother, Eddie Conway ; a son-in-law, Willie Sarcoxie and three grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Grace Ellen Conway; children, Terry Lee Conway of Granite, Darrel Conway and wife Mimi of Baytown, Texas, Martin Conway and wife Kimberly of Fargo and Debra Sarcoxie of Pink; brothers, Clifford Conway, Kenneth Conway, Bobby Conway, Mac Conway all of Wichita, Kan., and Rex Conway of Dallas; and a sister, Nancy Richmond of Fort Smith; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Penley Dr. Walter Elmo Penley, DDS, 77, Denton, Texas, died Friday at Denton Regional Medical Center. Services were held this afternoon with Jim Hill, pastor, officiating. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Park. He was born Sept. 8, 1924 at Reed to James W. and Mary Penley. He graduated from Mangum High School in 1942. He married Nelwyn Anderson on June 25, 1950 in Port Arthur, Texas. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater. He attended the University of Oklahoma in 1946-47 and then transferred to Baylor University, where he received a BS degree in 1950. He graduated from Baylor Dental School in Dallas in 1953 and practiced general dentistry in Denton from 1953 until 1960. He received his orthodontic training at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston from 1960-1962. He began his orthodontics practice in Denton in 1962. He retired in 2001. He was a member of the Denton Kiwanis Club for 49 years, serving as president in 1959. He served on the Denton Independent School District Board of Education from 1967 until 1975. He provided orthodontic services to the Denton State School for many years. He served as president of the Denton County Dental Society and the Texas Tweed Orthodontic Society. He was active with the Denton Chamber of Commerce and the United Way. He was instrumental in establishing the Denton YMCA where he served on the board of directors. He was a supporter of the University of North Texas and a member of the Denton Bible Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nelwyn Penley; three children, Mark Penley and wife Cindy of Dallas, Beth Henderson and husband James of Tell, Texas and Major Dick Penley of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twenty-nine Palms, Calif.; six granddaughters, Jennifer and Hannah Penley, Hayley and Mary Katherine Henderson, Rebekah and Rachel Penley; his sister, Noma Castle, Denton, brothers Neil of Oklahoma City and Forrest of Aberdeen Scotland; nieces Sharon Key and Shirley Martin, Denton; nephews, Andrew and John Penley, Aberdeen, Scotland, Jim Knight, Reed and George Knight, Pampa, Texas; and many cousins. Seawright Curtis Seawright, 69, died Saturday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services were held this afternoon at the Wilbarger Memorial Park. Burial will be under the Direction of Sullivan Funeral Home of Vernon. He was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Harrold, Texas to Ernest L. and Johnnie Melissa Jackson Seawright. He had been a resident of Vernon for most of his life. He moved to Altus in 2001. He is survived by two sisters, Laverne Rawls of Fritch, Texas and Glenda Krider of Altus; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, E.L. Seawright, Jr.; three sisters, Alice Jeffcoat, Dottie Murray and Amy White.
