Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel in Vernon, Texas, with Ron Fox officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Boggy Cemetery in Elmer. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home of Vernon. Bates was born Feb. 1, 1916, in Olustee, to Gilbert and Eliza M. Milburn Bates. He married Treasie Mae Loftin on Oct. 29, 1944, in Olustee. He retired from W.T. Waggoner Ranch, Oil Division, after 28 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksboro, Texas, a 54 year member of the Altus Masonic Lodge, a past volunteer fireman in Vernon and Nocona, Texas, and was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. Bates is survived by: his wife, Treasie Bates of Ardmore; one son, Dennis Henderson Bates, also of Ardmore; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. The family will receive guests at 1900 Gordon in Vernon, Texas. Chambers Mary Champlin Chambers died Wednesday at her home in Tulsa. A memorial service was held Saturday at the St. Simeon's Episcopal Home in Tulsa. Inurnment will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Altus at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. She was born Oct. 26, 1910 as one of nine children to Roy and Francis Champlin of Lawton. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1932 and taught school in Lawton. She married her husband, Lawrence in 1933. They moved to Altus in 1943 where they were active in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Her husband died in 1993 and she moved to Tulsa one year later. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and PEO. Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor Denny of Lawton and Nancy Hall of Phoenix; two daughters, Susan Adams and her husband Ed of Tulsa and Jane Kramer and her husband, Jerry of Dallas; a son, Larry and his wife, Cheryl of Tulsa; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Coffman Sidney Durrell Coffman died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Mangum City Hospital. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mangum Church of Christ with Ken Hamilton and Todd McRay officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home. Coffman was born Feb. 10, 1910, in Granite. He farmed with his family. After high school, he attended college in Cordell. He then began teaching. He eventually became principal at Liberty and City View Schools and coached girls basketball and boys baseball. He served in the Navy for two years and became a rural mail carrier for the Mangum Post Office for 20 years. He was also an electrician. He was a longtime golfer, a Mason and a member of the Elk's Lodge. In 1987, he married Sally Kunow in Granite. His first wife, Ruth, preceded him in death in 1985. Coffman was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Ruth. Survivors include: his wife, Sally; children and their spouses, Peggy Thomas of Anchorage, Alaska, Sidney and Mary Coffman of Edmond, Donald Glenn and Judy Coffman of Granbury, Texas; brothers, John Coffman and his wife Rita of Granite, Harlan Coffman of Greenville, Texas; sisters, Kate Ledbetter and Sara Gore, both of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Darby Steven Marshall Darby, 49, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001. Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Duke First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Foreman and the Rev. Everett Smalts officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Darby was born Jan. 26, 1952, in Altus, to H.R. "Tad" and Hazel (Marshall) Darby. He grew up in Duke, moving to Altus while in high school and graduated from Altus High School. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and worked in the family business, Darby Furniture for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Duke First Baptist Church, the Salvation Army, the Rotary Club and was an active member and enjoyed golf at the Elk's Golf and Country Club. He also served on the advisory board of the Salvation Army. Darby was preceded in death by his father, H.R. "Tad" Darby; an uncle, Lloyd B. Darby; aunt and uncle, Lloyd and Verone Glenn and an aunt, Jo Marshall. Survivors include: his mother, Hazel Darby of Altus; aunts and uncles, Howard and Mary Darby, Patsy Darby, Don and Vernie Marshall and James "Speedy" Marshall. Derryberry Elbert Audie Derryberry, Jr., died Monday, Dec. 25, 2001, at the Veteran's Health Care Facility in Clinton. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Derryberry was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Altus, on North Jackson Street. He attended Washington Grade School, Altus Junior High and Altus High School. He was inducted in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church on N. Main in Altus. He is survived by his son, Audie Carl; daughter-in-law, Patricia; his grandson, Matthew of Garland, Texas. Other survivors include: his brother, J. Calvin Derryberry of Massachusetts and his sister, Dorothy Zettler of Arizona. Duck Funeral Services for Alvin Duck will be Saturday at Lowell Tims Chapel. He was a former long time resident of Pampa, and had resided in Bastrop, Altus, Amarillo and Blair before moving back to Pampa in July 2000. In Pampa, he was a truck driver for Harvester Feed for 18 years and he was a diesel mechanic. He was a deputy sheriff in Bastrop, Lefors and Blair and he retired from law enforcement in Blair. He was an avid musician, playing guitar, keyboard and harmonica. He was an avid fisherman. He is survived by four daughters Linda Daniels and Marsha Bush of Pampa, Alene Monday of Stigler, and Laveda Rust of Keota; two brothers Fred Duck of Cedar Creek and Elvis Duck of Geronimo, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Dyer Patsy Maurine Dyer, 70, died March 28, 2001 at Grace Living Center in Mangum. She was born Dec. 18, 1930 to Emory Herman and Ethel Mae (Davidson) Pence. She graduated from Vinson High School in 1949. She married Carl Willard "Bill" Dyer on Feb. 21, 1959 in Mangum. They made their home in Mangum where they had a plumbing business. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter Patricia Sue, three brothers, L.A., Billy Wayne, and Charles Herman Pence. Survivors include her family, Bert Dyer and wife Genny of Mangum, grandchildren Jenna and Heather Dyer of Elk City, a special nephew Floyd Pence and wife of Granite, other grandchildren Victor Serna, Jr., Joseph Serna, both of Mangum; four great grandchildren Joseph and Elizabeth Serna of Mangum, Brenden Serna, Rockford, Illinois and Mary Jo Serna, Tipton. Greer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Fancher "Coach" Kenneth Fancher, husband of Laura Beth Fancher, died March 16, 2001, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born on a farm near Hess, on Feb. 22, 1926, and was the son of George and Jene Fancher. He was educated in public schools at Hess/Southside, graduating in 1945. He departed Hess on a basketball and baseball scholarship to Southwest State University in May of 1945. He married Laura Beth English on April 21, 1946. He was drafted for service in the Army from 1946 to 1948. Upon completion of this service, he returned to Southwestern State University to complete his degree from 1948 until 1951. In 1951, he began his career as a teacher and coach at Healdton and remained there until 1968. During his time in Healdton, he also worked at Mobile Oil from 1954 to 1960. In 1968, he moved to Altus and continued his coaching and teaching career at both Northeast and Southeast Junior Highs. He received his masters of education degree from Southwestern in 1972. He retired from his life-long profession in May of 1987. He was a teacher and coach for more than 30 years and his proudest achievement was having the opportunity to mold young minds and teach his students how to achieve the goals they set in life. He demonstrated these "life" lessons both on the athletic field and in the classroom. His message "you can achieve anything you really believe and are willing to work for" lives on in many of his former students. Through the years a significant number of these students have commented how his message has positively impacted their lives. Kenneth made a tremendous contribution to his students in his efforts to prepare them for the challenge of life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus, the Masonic Lodge, and Jackson County Retired Teacher's Association. The Fanchers have three children: Kennita Hunt and husband Bruce of Arlington, Texas, Danny Fancher of Ardmore and Lt. Co. (USMC) Ken Fancher and wife Mona of St. Leonard, Md. Grandchildren include: Latisa Ledbetter and Tarali Hunt of Pensacola, Fla., Wesley and Kyle Fancher of St. Leonard, Md., Keevin and Kasin Fancher of Oklahoma City and Jomora Moore of Tulsa. Six great grandchildren also survive. Fancher was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene, Carl, Richard, Vernon, his sisters, Mary Ellen and Georgia May and his parents. Fancher was married to Laura Beth for 54 years and was a loving family man. He will be sincerely missed by all that knew him. Faulkner James Richard Faulkner, 75, Altus, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Lawton. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Faulkner was born June 23, 1925, in Hot Springs, Ark., to John Luther and Oza Eva (Smith) Faulkner. In 1947, in Lubbock, Texas, he and Connie Andrews were married. He entered the Army on Nov. 5, 1943, in Lubbock, and was honorably discharged Jan. 22, 1946, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Faulkner had lived in the Altus Community since 1954, having moved here from Lubbock. He worked at Altus Air Force Base in Civil Service as a mechanic for many years until he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Elks Club, VFW Post #4876 and the American Legion. He is survived by: one daughter, Lynn R. Bates and her husband William T. of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Bernice Boy and husband Arthur of Omaha, Texas, Alice Beard and husband Jack of Avery, Texas, Faye Davenport of Spring Valley, N.Y.; two brothers, Eddie Faulkner and wife Paula of Paxton, Ill., Elton Faulkner and wife Peggy of Lubbock; two grandchildren, James M. Mates and Laura R Bates of Oklahoma City and a very special friend, Mary M. Jones of Altus. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Kenneth, Johnnie and Aubrey Faulkner. Fulton Maxine Fulton, 82, died Thursday at Harmon County Memorial Hospital in Hollis. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Hollis, with the Rev. She was born July 19, 1918 to A.D. and Rosa Coggins Hollis, Sr. in Hollis. She graduated from Hollis High School in 1936 and later attended Oklahoma A&M. She married Robert Leon Fulton Sept. 29, 1945 in Childress, Texas and worked as the bookkeeper for Fulton Plumbing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church the 1941 Sorosis Club, PEO Chapter, and B&PW. Her specials interests were her grandchildren, reading, traveling, the 1941 Sorosis Club, PEO and her friends. She was descendant of George Washington Hollis, the founder of Hollis. She is survived by two sons, Rod H. Fulton and wife, Beverly of Hot Springs Village, Ark. and David L. Fulton and wife, Deana of Hollis; a daughter, Lea Ann Fulton of Amarillo; sister-in-law, Madeline Moore of Hollis; granddaughter, Shannon Fulton Kardokus and husband Merl of Edmond; two grandsons, Ryan Fulton and wife Kate of Frisco, Texas and Robert Fulton and wife Jamae of Oklahoma City; a great-granddaughter, Eliza Fulton of Frisco, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Fulton in 1977 and her father, A.D. Hollis, Sr. in 1976. Lucas Elizabeth F. "Bessie" (Holder) Lucas, 80, died march 29, 2001 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Southside Baptist Church, Altus, with Rev. C.W. Parker officiating. She was born March 16, 1921 to pioneer Jackson County residents, James and Samantha (Criswell) Holder in Creta. She married Roy Lucas Oct. 30, 1937. They made their home in the Hess and Elmer Community. She was a homemaker and helped Roy on the family farm. She was a Christian and a member of the Homemaker Sunday School Class of Southside Baptist Church of Altus. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Roylyn Kay Lucas Tyra, her parents, and five brothers and one sister. Goad Betty Jean Goad, 69, died unexpectedly at her home in Mangum on Friday, March 16, 2001. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Mangum with the Rev. Jimmy Pitson officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home. Goad was born in Key West, Fla., on Aug. 10, 1931, to William P. and Mary Ellen (Baker) Williams. She grew up in Key West and attended high school there. She married Claude Goad on Aug. 14, 1950. She and her husband moved to Mangum shortly after their marriage, and made their home there. She was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother. She took an active role in the lives of her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended Sunday school class. She was a church nursery worker for many years. At the time of her death, she was employed by Grace Living Center as social activities director. She was proceeded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her husband, Claude Goad; a son, David; a daughter, Robin Bogart, all of Mangum; one sister, Marilyn Ely of Florida; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Sarah, both of Mangum. Hamilton was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Bromond, Texas, to Clarence and Marie Henderson. He entered the Army in July of 1943, in Slaton, Texas, and was honorably discharged July 31, 1963, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He had lived in Altus since 1973, moving here from Virginia. He worked for the City of Altus in the street department for more than 20 years, before retiring. On April 28, 1999, in Altus, he married Larnetta Taplin. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Altus. He enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family and friends. Hamilton was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Larnetta Hamilton; two daughters, Arleen Clayton of Altus and Geraldine Hamilton of Williamsburg, Va.; four sons, Bobby E. Brown, Jerry L. Hamilton and Clarence W. Hamilton, all of Williamsburg, Va., and Charles V. She was born Aug. 28, 1910 in Paris, Texas to J.B. and Dovie McKee. She married Hubert E. Hayes in 1946. He died in 1990. She served as a homemaker for many years. She enjoyed working in the outdoors and taking drives through the mountains. She was a member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ. Survivors include granddaughters, Gayle Palmertree of Altus and Cynthia Munday; great-grandchildren, Michael Corcoran and Louie Nagel; a nephew, Buddy McKee and wife Lou of Altus and many other relatives and friends. Henry Jim Bob Henry, 44, of Fort Worth, Texas, and formerly of Altus, died Late Thursday evening, from injuries suffered in a truck accident south of Limon, Colo. He attended Altus Schools and graduated from Altus High School in 1975. He farmed and ran cattle with his dad for many years. He was employed as a truck driver for the past few years. He was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. He enjoyed being a cowboy and team roping with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Sue Henry. He is survived by one brother and his family, Jerry Don and Donna Henry, along with their children Kerri, Jaimie and Kadi; and many cousins. He served during the Korean War with the Oklahoma National Guard in Company D of the medical detachment of the 120th Combat Engineers, 45th Infantry Division. Survivors include many nieces, nephews and friends. LaFever LeeRoy Raymond LaFever, 78, Altus and former Hobart resident, died Saturday at Corn Heritage Village Nursing Home in Corn. He was born Nov. 18, 1922 in Lone Wolf to Napoleon "N.P." and Elizabeth Garland "Hughes" LaFever. He served in the U.S. Army, entering into active duty Dec. 27, 1944 at Oklahoma City. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Ribbon, Japan Victory Ribbon, two overseas Service Bars. He was honorably discharged Nov. 14, 1946, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He married Dorothy Cook in August, 1948, in Vernon, Texas. In 1974 he married Modean Allen Beaser. He was farmer and was a member of the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Modean; two brothers, Cecil LaFever and Leonard LaFever and one sister, Ruby Garrison. Survivors include a son, Raymond LeFever of Weatherford; a daughter, Karen Skinner of Weather; a sister, Verchel "Tiny" Muse of Hobart; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Law was born May 9, 1929, in Childress. He was a retired Mst. Sgt. in the Air Force, serving in the Korean War. He married Billie Morren on May 22, 1949, in Childress. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Childress. Survivors include: his wife, Billie Doris Law of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Keith Adams of Olustee; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Levonski Celia Anne Levonski, 44, of Thornton, CA died March 21, 2001. Graveside services, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Altus City Cemetery. She was an active person, working as an accountant in the Denver, CO area. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Westminster and enjoyed the piano and reading. Survivors include her son, Trevor Levonski and daughter Joann Levonski, both of Thorton; parents Jerry and Mary Stroud of Westminster; brothers Timothy Stroud of Norman, and Michael Stroud of Wyoming. McCoy Lucille McCoy, 81, longtime Altus resident passed away Wednesday, March 7 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God with Rev. Richard Ventonis officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. She was born on April 9, 1919 in Laverty, Oklahoma to John Warren Yoder and Nettie (Graves) Yoder. Lucille had lived in the Altus Community since 1946 having moved to Altus from Chickasha. On June 20, 1936 Lucille and Carl McCoy were united in Marriage in Chickasha. She was a wonderful homemaker and minister's wife, who devoted her life to serving her husband and God. She enjoyed being involved with the church women's organization and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Rev. Carl McCoy of the home, one son Don McCoy and his wife Peggy of Plano, Texas; three sisters, Evelyn Russell of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Ann Smith of Chickasha, Dorothy Stallings of Chickasha, two grandchildren and four great-greatchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Earl Yoder, two sisters, Pearl Marsh and Mary Williams. McElhose Opal McElhose, 96, Elmer, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A private family burial has taken place at the Hess Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. A private memorial service is pending. McElhose was born May 23, 1904, in Frederick, to Bert and Fannie (Havenhill) Taylor. She graduated from Frederick High School and from Central State Teacher's College in Edmond. She taught first grade for more than 40 years, including 17 years in Oregon. Her Oklahoma assignments were at The Flat, then with the Hess School District and finally with the Southside and Humphreys Schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Delta Gamma and the Professional Business Women's Association. McElhose was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Nell Womack of Elmer and a sister, Marquerite Thompson of Ardmore. Milton Curtis Milton, 75, died at his home Thursday. Services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home. Moore TSgt (ret.) Robb Moore, 43, Lawton, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at a Lawton hospital. Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Friday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bill Johnson of Lawton officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be held at Post Cemetery. Moore was born Dec. 22, 1957, in Columbus, Ga. He entered the Air Force in 1978. He retired from the Air Force in 1998, after 20 years of service. He married Terry Martello on Feb. 24, 1997, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He had lived in Altus and moved to Lawton in 1999. He was an avid golfer. Moore is survived by: his wife Terry, of the home; three daughters, Elizabeth and Katie , of the home and LaKeesha of Columbus, Ga.; two sons, Edward of Atlanta, Ga. and Robert of Anchorage, Alaska; two grandchildren; a brother, Michael Moore of Montgomery, Ala.; a sister, Dana Smith of Atlanta; his father, Robert Moore of Montgomery, Ala. and his mother and step-father, Mildred and Ed Smith of Enterprise, Ala. Myhand Gladys (Loveless) Myhand, 81, died March 17, 2001, in her home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Altus with Barry Worcester and Mark Morey officiating. Burial will be in the Little Texas Cemetery in Little Texas, Ala. She was born Dec. 3, 1919, in Alynra, Ark. to Forrest and Leona Loveless. She married Charles T. Myhand on Nov. 11, 1945. They served as minister and wife in the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in North Carolina, Florida and Alabama for 35 years before her husband's death in 1988. She moved to Altus in 1994, after being diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. She is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Wanda Jones of Altus, three grandchildren, Daryl Jones of Oklahoma City, Angelia Frierson and her husband, John of Portales, N.M. and Karen Sanchez and her husband Tim of Altus. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, John Thomas, William and Christi Frierson and Tyler and Cole Sanchez. Her parents, Samuel and Leona Loveless; a step-mother, Lena Loveless; her sister, Vivian Stephens and her husband, Charles Myhand preceded her in death. Newton Carolyn Ann Scheller Newton died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford at the age of 65. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at the Hinton Church of Christ with Jimie Wray Mead and Don Wheeler officiating. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at the Frederick Cemetery under the direction of Hinton-Turner Funeral Home of Hinton. Newton was born Nov. 28, 1935, in Frederick, to Edwin August and Ruth Mildred Scheller. She graduated from Altus High School and attended Oklahoma State University. She owned and operated His Master Clothing Store in Marlow from 1972 until 1977. She served as site manager for the Washita Valley Senior Meal Center in Hinton for 21 years. She was a member of the Hinton Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ruth Scheller and one brother. Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie and Sherry Newton of Central High, Tim and Shelly Newton of Hinton and Kyle and Kelly Newton of Hinton; seven grandchildren, Rashell Tointigh, Christ, Vanessa, Todd, Kale, Kyler and Kade Newton and one great granddaughter, Mikayla Tointigh. Edith Lorene (Groves) Overfield died Sunday at the Quartz Mountain Care Center. Graveside services under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Altus City Cemetery. Margie Van Oostrum will officiate. She was born Nov. 18, 1913 to G.A. (Lon) and Clara M. (Waldrip) Groves. She married Thomas Franklin (Hap) Overfield on Nov. 14, 1932. They had one daughter, Lonnie Sue Overfield Barton. Survivors include two grandchildren, Mary Barton Light and John M. Barton both of Tulsa; two sisters, Iva Tigert of Cleveland, Ohio and Faye Wentworth of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Aileen Groves and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; daughter, Sue and four brothers, Jim, Harley, Boyd and Grady Groves. Phelan Mary Elizabeth Rodgers Phelan died Feb. 27, 2001, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Lowell-Tims Chapel with the Rev. Marty Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Phelan was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Toronto, Canada. She was the daughter of Alfred and Mary (Constable) Rodgers. She married William Francis (Bill) Phelan on Aug. 6, 1948, at Fort Holabird, Maryland. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1999. She moved from Toronto to Rochester, N.Y., in the 1930's. She was a pediatric nurse and x-ray graduate from Strong Memorial Hospital. She was affiliated with Syracuse University, receiving her x-ray certification on Oct. 1, 1946. She worked as an x-ray technologist at Jackson County Memorial Hospital and became Chief of Radiology in the 1970's. She retired in the 1980's. She knitted hand puppets for her church and nursing home patients. She was a member of Highland Heights Methodist Church. Survivors include: three children and their spouses, William R. (Skip) and Sharon Phelan of Oklahoma City, Stuart David Patrick and Freda Phelan of Yuma, Ariz. and John Albert and Denise Phelan of Altus and four grandchildren, Steven, Christen, Brian and Matthew Phelan. Pierson Rayburn Eugene "Gene" Pierson died Wednesday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Mangum Church of Christ with Eddie Beard officiating. Assisting will be Todd McRay, minister of the Church of Christ. He attended school up to ninth grade. He married Mabery Ethel in June of 1940 in Mangum. They made their home in Mangum where he was a lifetime resident. He operated heavy equipment. Prior to his employment for the county he worked as a mechanic. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ and was baptized April 28, 1946. Leroy Pierson. Two brothers, Walter "Pete" Pierson of Ivins, Utah, and Robert "Bob" Pierson of Mangum; a sister, Pauline Pierson Kirby of Oklahoma City; and five grand Overfield Edith Overfield, 87, died Sunday, March 18, 2001. Rodgers Services for Ethel Victoria Rodgers, 87, Lawton will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church of Lawton Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Fred Andrews officiating. Burial will be at Pecan Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. She died Saturday in Lawton. She was born June 14, 1913 in Tinnie to Ulysses A. and Callie A. (Hennessee) Harrison. She lived in Freemont, Calif. for several years. She married William D. Rodgers March 9, 1946, in Walters. After retiring they returned to Lawton in 1984. She regular attended the High-Rise sing services on Saturday evenings. She was a member of the Church of God. Survivors include two sons, Harry E. Jones of Vacaville, Calif. and William F. Jones of Altus; three daughters , Ethel M. Bradley of Henderson, Texas, Callie V. Rapstine of Kansas City, Mo. and Edna S. Hennessee of Lawton; three brothers, Ray Harrison of Groveton, Texas, Leon Harrison of Cyril and Bill Harrison of Lawton; a sister, Viola Rodgers of Lawton. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Rodgers on Jan. 3, 1998; her parents; four brothers, Buster, Buck, Archie and Joe T. "Pod" Harrison and by two sisters, Ruby Bonner and Alma Hennessee. A visitation service will from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Rollins Lena Loys Rollins, 92, died Tuesday at Harmon County Memorial Hospital in Hollis. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Hollis Church of Christ with Jeff Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stewart Funeral Service. She was born Sept. 12, 1908 in Bethel, Harmon County to George and Minnie Husband Bell. She lived in Harmon most of her life. She married A.C. Rollins in 1929, and they farmed on the Red River, south of Hollis for most of their lives. She was a member of the Gould Church of Christ. Her husband died in 1977. Survivors include two children, Max Wayne Rollins of Hollis and Mary Lou Nelson of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Myrl Simmons of Hollis; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Rosalez Emilio Rosalez, 57, died Monday at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Mangum with the Rev. Charles Watson, minister of the First United Methodist Church in Mangum. Burial will be at the Blair Cemetery. He was born April 5, 1943 in Charco, Texas to Acencion and Francisa (Montez) Rosalez. He married Eva Adams in 1958 at Rule, Texas. They have made their home in Mangum for the past 35 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church and worked as a farm laborer. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Trena Saldiva, and a grandchild, Daniel Rosalez, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Eva of the home in Mangum; children, June and Summer Rosalez, Esmeralda and James Calloway, Emilio Jr. and Rome Rosalez, Daniel and Irene Rosalez, Soyla Mora, Alberto and Pamela Rosalez, Esperanza and Brandon Yocham, and Beatrice Rosalez; brothers, Pablo, Elias and Reputor Rosalez, and a sister, Aurora Magoon; 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Shumate Viola Mae Shumate, 90, died at Mangum City Hospital early Sunday morning. Services were held today at the Greer Funeral Home Chapel. Tommy Nabors officiated and burial followed at the Riverside Cemetery in Mangum under the direction of Greer Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 25, 1910 in Madill to John Sanders and Myrtle Irene (Noah) Nabors. She was baptized in the South Fork River, near Martha, along with 50 other people in 1925. She attended school at Fairview and completed the 11th grade. She married James Ewing "Dick" Shumate in 1928. She worked for Haddad Dry Good Store in Mangum before she and her husband moved to Betteravia, Calif. in 1952. During this time she worked for the Union Sugar Factory as a sacker for 16 years. In 1977 they returned to Mangum. Her husband died on May 15, 1986. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and vegetables, ceramics, crocheting and other hand work. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Lawrence, Jack and Buford Nabors and great-grandson Adam Kirby. Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Marjorie and Raymond Waldroop of Mangum, Marcia and Kent Avery of Port Hueneme, Calif; two brothers, Jay Nabors of Mangum and Virgil Nabors of Arizona; a sister, Audean Lyon of California; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Tyler Minnie (Browder) Tapp Tyler, 93, died March 23, 2001 at Mangum City Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born Jan. 1, 1908 in Knox County Texas near Truscott, to William and Sofrinia (Isabell) Browder. At the age of twelve she became a member of the United Methodist Church. She married Orvel Tapp in 1925 at Truscott, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1943. In 1951 she married Wade Tyler, Sr. in Mangum. He also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, United Methodist Women, and the Rest Home Mending Group. She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Sells of Oklahoma City, two grandchildren, Eddie Sells and Janice Stafford, both of Oklahoma City, numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sisters, and four brothers. Services were today at the First United Methodist Church in Mangum with the Rev. Allen Gharet officiating. Interment was to follow at the Willow Cemetery. Wilhite Funeral services for Arlon Wayne Wilhite, 63, Frederick will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick with the Rev. Vernon Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. He died Saturday in the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City after a lengthy illness. He was born March 12, 1937 in Clovis, N.M. to Oscar and Mamie Tinsley Wilhite. He attended and graduated from Reed High School in 1957. He married Mary Lee Giddens on May 26, 1957 in Mangum. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. He owned the State Farm Insurance agency for many years. He was also a member of the "Spit and Argue: Domino Club. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee of the home; his mother, Mamie Wilhite of Mangum; two daughters, Sandra Meggs of Frederick and Kristie Kennedy and husband Robert of Cookeville, Tennessee; a brother, Delbert Wilhite of Mangum; five grandchildren, James Ronald Meggs, Ryeland Michael Wilhite, Jarrod Courtland Wilhite, Matland Drake Wilhite and Hannah Nichole Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his father; Oscar Wilhite in 1959 and one sons, Michael Wilhite on Jan. 2, 1999. Yokum Roland Arthur Yokum, 82, of Altus and former Hobart resident, died Thursday at Altus. A memorial service will be Thursday at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home Chapel in Lone Wolf, David Ridenour officiating. He was born July 8, 1918 in Vernon to William Henry and Lillie (Griffin) Yokum. His family came to Oklahoma from Kentucky in 1912, settling in Gotebo where his father worked for the railroad. In 1913 they moved to Davidson. He graduated from Davidson High School. He served in the United States Navy working as a radio man. He served in the Aleutian Islands off the cost of Alaska. After being honorably discharged, he came home and began working for the railroad as a telegrapher and was the last agent for the Frisco Depot in Davidson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ballard James Yokum and one sister, Nell McWater. He is survived by a daughter, Sibbie Bacigalupo of Windsor, Conn.; a sister, Ruby Yokum of Carnegie; a nephew, Jim Yokum of Weatherford; and three grandchildren.
