Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Mangum. The Rev. Jimmy Pitson, minister of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery. She was born in Mangum on Feb. 12, 1929 to Homer and Irene (Hilley) Parker. She grew up and attended school in the Mangum area. Bobbie was a homemaker, working also as a grocery clerk and in a sewing factory until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two daughters, LaQuita Knight and husband Buddy of Mangum and Debbie Staton and husband Dan of Headrick; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Willis Estelle Willis, 81, Altus, died Thursday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Yeats officiating. Interment will follow services at 4 p.m. at Kingston Cemetery in Kingston under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born Jan. 27, 1921 at Willis to Alpha and Manuel Allen. She attended school at Willis and graduated from Kingston High School in 1939. She married McLynn Willis. They had six children, four who lived to maturity. They farmed, then operated the Willis Store and the Post Office in the early 1940s. She operated the Southwestern Bell Telephone office at Kingston from 1950 until 1954 when the area became a dial system. She later worked for the phone company in McAlester, Mercury Freight Lines in Fort Smith and the Altus Times Democrat before retiring from The Booterie in 1987 after 21 years of service. In post-retirement years she often worked part time at the Altus Auto Salvage. She was a member of the Abigail Sunday School class of First Baptist Church and of the Business and Professional Women's Club. A major portion of her life was devoted to care giving. While a full-time employee at The Booterie, she was sole caregiver to her stroke victim husband from 1972 until his death in 1982. During that time she moved her 81-year-old mother and 92-year-old father into her home where she also cared for them until their deaths in 1986 and 1983. She was also preceded in death by two infant daughters, Viola and Lynn, one grandson, Shawn Willis and one great-granddaughter, Sheridan Willis. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Dowling and husband Willie of Mobile, Ala. and Beverly Nall and husband Robert of Duncan; two sons, Holmes Willis of Altus and Carl "Bud" Willis, DVM of Sulphur; seven grandchildren, Dione Heusel and husband Neil of Harahan, La., Todd Willis and wife Amy of Owasso, Kim Willis of New York, N.Y.; Chimene Fikkert and husband Arnold of Columbus, Ohio, Trebor Nall and wife Sheryl of Owasso, Shane Willis, Los Angeles, Christopher Nall, Oklahoma City; and six great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends. MARCH 3: Arndt Yvonna June Arndt, 84, Altus, died Thursday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Altus First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Burr officiating. Burial will be at the El Reno Cemetery. at 3 p.m. Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf. She was born Oct. 13, 1917 in Enid to Walter Lomax and Flossie L. (Onan) Traylor. She lived most of her life in El Reno. She graduated from El Reno High School in 1936. She worked at the telephone office for several years and married Lawrence F. Arndt Oct. 17, 1943 in El Reno. They lived in several different places while her husband was in the Navy. They moved to El Reno when got out of the service. He died on May 9, 1996. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and birds. She was a member of the First Christian Church of El Reno. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by daughter Judy Kay (Arndt) Davis and husband Larry, Altus; four grandchildren, Rev. Shannon Davis and wife Jan, Guymon, Andrea Burgess and husband Ronnie, Nicole Koch and husband Scott and Darlene Davis, all of Wichita, Kansaas; three great grandchildren, Jacob and Soloman Davis, Guymon and Jada Burgess, Wichita, Kansas. Hudson H. Stanton Hudson, died Friday. He was born Nov. 12, 1921 to H. Stanton Hudson, Sr. and Frances Strong Hudson in Fort Scott, Kan. He obtained his education at the University of Missouri in Columbia where he met his wife, Wanda Bailey Bauman. They were married May 1, 1948 in Jefferson City, Mo. He served as a Corporal in the 1106th Army Air Force Battalion during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for the North Apennines Campaign. He worked for 25 years as a fisheries biologist at Ozark Fisheries, Stoutland, Mo. He retired to Poplar Bluff, Mo. where he was active in the Missouri Native Plant Society, and the Audubon Society. He worked as a volunteer for many years with Missouri Department of Conservation doing breeding bird studies. He also discovered several plants not known to occur in Missouri. He received awards from the Missouri Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, The Missouri Native Plant Society, the Three Rivers Audobon Society, and Missouri Conservation Commission Department of natural History for his work as a volunteer. He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda and step-son Dr. Mark A. Bauman. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and John Daniel, Altus; a step-son, Joe Bauman, Springfield, Mo.; grandson John S. Daniel II, Wichita, Kan.; step-grandsons, Jason M. Bauman, Japan and Timothy G. Bauman, Poplar Bluff, Mo. The family will hold a private memorial service at the Fort Scott National Cemetery at a later date. Marshall Margaret Violet (Davis) Marshall, 90, Altus, died Friday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A memorial service has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Barry Worcester officiating. Memorial services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born Oct. 3, 1911, in Claremore to Herman and Nora (Hester) Davis. She attended Claremore schools and graduated in 1929. She married Walter C. Marshall, Jr. on Jan. 10, 1937 in Claremore. They later moved to Altus where their children Brenda and Ted were born. The family owned and operated Marshall's Men's Wear. She also worked as a librarian for Altus Schools for many years. She wa an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and playing bridge. She was a member of the First Christian Church dating back to the 1930s. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1967. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Risner of Altus; son Dr. Ted Marshall and wife Sue of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Kelly Marshall, Molly Marshall and Christy Marshall all of Tulsa, Blake Risner and wife Nancy of Glenwood Springs, Colo. and Brooke Risner Gattis and husband Kenneth of Altus; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Gattis, Megan Gattis and Kaila Gattis, all of Altus, and Bryce Risner of Glenwood Springs, Colo. Martin Ruby Jeanette Martin, 93, died Thursday at a Carnegie Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mountain View with the Rev Bruce Govett, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of the Hackney Funeral Home of Mountain View. She was born March 18, 1908 in DeKalb County, Mo. to William E. Effie (Hullett) Newby. She lived in Missouri and Gotebo before moving to Mountain View in 1939. She married George W. Martin, Jr. in Kiowa County in 1928. To this union three children were born. She was a member of the First United Methodist. MARCH 4: Baughier Elvirra "Etta" Baughier, 89, former resident of Duke, died at the Ennis Care Center in Ennis Texas, Friday. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Rock Cemetery near Duke under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus. She was born May 30, 1912 at Hollis to Hugh and Mary Bullard. She graduated from Carter High School and Plainview Business College. She married Orin Baughier May 15, 1940 at Carter. They moved to Midwest City where they lived 39 years and where she was active in business and community affairs. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Oklahoma Home Demonstration Club and was the organist for the Country Estates Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Clessie, Clara and Maudie and brothers Lee and Hubert. Survivors include son James Baughier and wife Dinah of Midlothian, Texas; two sisters, Hazel Rockhold of Kansas City, Kan. and Marilyn Eldridge of Hemet, Calif.; two grandchildren, Mark Slaten of Waxahachie, Texas and Harry Baughier of Rockwall, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Toni and Brittany Slaten of Waxahachie. Bradley Funeral services for Norva H. Bradley, 83, Lawton, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Cook, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Tom Willoughby assisting. He died Saturday at a Lawton hospital. Burial will be at Plainview Cemetery in Plainview under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. He was born May 23, 1918 in Jester to Scovill Harlan and Vacy Lela (Falkner) Bradley. He grew up at Plainview and attended Plainview schools. He attended Southwestern State Teacher's College in Weatherford. He entered the United States Army in February, 1942. He served in the South Pacific Islands during World War II. He was honorably discharged in October, 1945 and then worked for Currell Lumber and Montgomery Wards. He was an optician for Dr. Tom Brown Optical for 33 years until his retirement. He married Leona Eller on Oct. 1, 1945 in Mangum. He sang gospel music and was a member of many musical groups. He was formerly a member of Central Baptist Church where he sang in the adult choir for many years. He was also a member of the Lawton Boat Club, the Good Sam's and was on the board of directors for the Lake Fort Cobb Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Crusaders Class at Centenary United Methodist Church. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was active in the Primetimers Senior Adult Choir. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter Vonna L. Deaton and husband Jerry of Brownfield, Texas; son Gary L. Bradley and wife Mary of Lawton; two aunts, Mattie Griffin of St. Joe, Texas and Edna Begert of Pampa, Texas; five grandchildren, Terry Deaton of Fort Worth, Texas, Kirsten Bradley of Lawton, Tami Deaton and Billy Deaton, both of Lubbock, Texas and Amber Bradley of Stillwater. Burial will follow at the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. She was born Jan. 30, 1908 in Eastland, Texas to W.R. and Lousina (Hammer) Long. She married J.H. McMinn, Sr. July 4, 1927 at Mangum. He died in 1967. She came to Eldorado at the age of three in a covered wagon with her family. She was a long time resident of Jackson County. She was a homemaker, member of the Eastern Star and a long time member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Junior and Bobbie McMinn of Altus; two grandchildren, Robbie McMinn Riley and husband Richard of Altus and Roy D. McMinn of Warrior, Ala. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson, Danny McMinn. The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Staton Beatrice Staton, 88, Amarillo, Texas, died Saturday. Services were held today at the First Baptist Church of Hollis. The former pastor of the church, the Rev. James Densman, officiated. Burial followed at the Fairmont Cemetery west of Hollis. She was born in Hagerman, Texas to Suzie and Joe Stephens on May 9, 1913. In 1926, her family moved to Hollis where she met Oscar Staton. They married Dec. 19, 1928. They farmed in Hollis and Vinson until 1954 when they moved to Norman. After 21 years of service they retired from jobs with the State of Oklahoma. They returned to Hollis in 1975 to farm the Staton family farm. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hollis. She was also a district director for Con Stan Industries and enjoyed her direct sales business for the rest of her life. She was a seamstress and sewed for her family and the public. She and her husband moved to Craig Methodist Retirement Center in Amarillo in 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Clarence Stephens, Eugene Stephens, Jim Stephens, Bill Stephens, and Cozzelle Stephens; two sisters, Glennis Trubenbach and Lucille Hair; a great-grandson, Chris Parker and a great-granddaughter, Kari Clements. Vera Donato "Don" Hernandez Vera, Jr., 66, of Martha died Saturday night following a traffic accident north of Altus. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Gualberto Gonzales. Burial will follow at Blair Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born Dec. 17, 1935 at Pawnee, Texas to Donato, Sr. and Ramona Vera. He moved to Jackson County from Seagraves, Texas and had been a resident of the area for many years. He married Nellie Avila at Vernon, Texas and was an accomplished guitar player, gardener and a self-employed mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and was known affectionately as "papaw" to the grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and mother-in-law, Maria Lupe Avila. Survivors include his wife Nellie Vera of the home; son Oscar Vera of Martha; four daughters, Romanita Vera of Martha, Connie Hammock and husband Jamie of Norfolk, Va., Corinda Buxton and husband Jonathon of Altus, Nelda Cox and husband Adam of Lone Wolf; four step-daughters and one step-son, sister Eulalia Rubio and husband Robert of Seagraves, Texas; two nieces, Sylvia Lopez of Seagraves, Texas and Lisa Rubio of Brownfield, Texas; nephew Robert Dale Rubio of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Wilcoxen Kenneth Murrell Wilcoxen, 87, died Friday at the Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus. Memorial services will be held at the Ford, Kan. Cemetery over the Memorial Day weekend. The grandson of one of the first pioneer families to homestead in Ford County, Kan., he was born June 16, 1914 on the family farm near Kingsdown, Kan. He and Ruby Perkins were married in 1932 and they reared six sons on their dry-land wheat farm. He farmed until the early 1970's when he and his wife moved to Bucklin, Kan. where they lived until her death in 1984. He then moved to Altus to be closer to his sons living in this area. He operated Wilcoxen's Vacuum Shop for many years and was said to be able to "fix anything." He retired at the age of 79. He was life-long member of the Presbyterian Church and a 32nd Degree Mason who was honored with a 50-year Masonic pin. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby; son Don:, his brother Clifford and sister Maida. He is survived by his sister June Estes of Lodi, Calif.; five sons, Lee and wife Penne of Olustee, Merle and wife Kathryn of Benicia, Calif; Bill and wife Pat of Woodward; George of Vero Beach, Fla.; Eddie and wife Joan of Altus; plus many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. MARCH 5: Abernethy Services for Deborah Abernethy, 39, Wichita, Kan., are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home. Caton Flarra Malone Caton died Sunday at Gainesville, Texas at the age of 94. Graveside funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Eastland, Texas Cemetery with the Rev. J.L. Williams officiating under the direction of Bakker Funeral Home, Eastland, Texas. She was born in Handley, Texas on Feb. 4, 1908 to Inman (Pop) Malone and Lela (White) Malone. She attended school and graduated from Handley High School in 1926. She married T. Wayne Caton on Nov. 8, 1933. He preceded her in death in 1973. She worked in the agriculture office of the Eastland Courthouse for 10 years and was employed at the Eastland County School Superintendent's office for 30 years. She retired in 1975. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church at Eastland. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Roff and husband Don of Lake Kiowa, Texas, formerly of Altus. She is also survived by three granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Dickerson Lena Dickerson, 83, Eldorado, died Monday at Edmond. Services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home. Eisenbach Elizabeth Eisenbach, 82, died Monday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and James Scarborough of Altus. Services will be in San Angelo, Texas. Local arrangements were handled by Kincannon Funeral Home. Fraser Hubert Calvin Fraser, a former resident of Hollis and Altus died Feb. 25 in McAllen, Texas. Graveside services were held this afternoon in the Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis with Bob Garton officiating. Services are under the direction of Patterson Greer Funeral Home in Hollis. He was an Air Force pilot in World War II and in Korea, he retired from the military in 1962. Survivors include his wife Laviece Fraser of Hollis; son Gary Fraser and his wife Kim of Littleton, Colo.; three grandchildren, Patrick, Genevieve and Scott, all of Littleton. Lee Tommy Lee, 55, died this morning at Ayers Nursing Home in Snyder. Services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home. MARCH 6: Abernethy Deborah (Smith) Abernethy, 39, Wichita, Kan., died Friday. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born Aug. 10, 1962 in Tripoli, Libya to Bill and Joyce Smith. She graduated in 1980 from Altus High Schools. She worked in the food service industry for several years. Her grandparents preceded her in death. She is survived by her parents; daughter Casey Abernethy of Altus; son Kevin Abernethy of Altus; sister Susan Barnes and husband Jeff, Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Jeffrey Smith, Westport, Wash. and Gary Smith and wife June of Woodward. Babione Funeral services for Russell "Rusty" Emory Babione, 50, of Weatherford will be held in the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Carol Waters and R.C. Babione officiating. Visiting hours at Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton will continue until noon Thursday. He was born Nov. 5, 1951 in Clinton to Ronald and Betty (Burtis) Babione. He died Monday at his home in Weatherford. When he was a baby, the family moved to Hereford, Texas, where they lived until 1963. They then moved to Altus. He graduated from Altus High School in 1970 and then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford where he studied industrial management. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September, 1972. Following graduation at Great Lakes Training Center, he was assigned shipboard at San Diego. When his ship was decommissioned he was transferred to Treasure Island Naval Base, Oakland, Calif. He was honorably discharged in October, 1973 and received the National Defense Service Medal. He moved to Oklahoma City and worked there for the postal service. He later moved to Altus and established Southwest Plating Company with his father. He was a self taught mechanic and was employed on special jobs by a number of area farm implement dealers. He also became a certified mechanic for Kawaski motorcycles. In 1988 he married Trina Matthew of Altus at the home of the grandmother, Mrs. Buff Burtis. The couple lived at Altus, Thomas and Weatherford while continuing their education at Southwestern. He received his BS degree in Psychology. After he was divorced, he lived for a while with his grandmother Burtis at Clinton doing odd jobs and caring for her as her health declined. He spent summers raising garden vegetables and helping with field work at the Darrell Coit farm near Custer City. He was entrepreneur, dealing in the buying and restoring of vintage cars. He also invented two metal devices which received official patents by the U.S. Patent Office. When he became physically unable to do work himself because of a military disability, he continued to enjoy overseeing his mechanical projects and gardening. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents Buff and Reba (Crow) Burtis, and Lester and Stella (Cork) Babione, all of Clinton. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Betty and Darrell Coit of Custer City, sister Charlotte and husband Danny Lovett of Norman; two brothers, Ronny Babione and wife Susan of Altus, Bruce Babione and wife Debbie of Fort Polk, La.; aunt Jane Burtis Smith, North Palm Beach, Fla.; uncle Buff Burtis, M.D. Anchorage, Alaska; a great aunt, Mrs. Emory (Georgia) Crow of Hollis and five nieces and nephews. Brown Funeral services for Cleburne Brown, 87, Mountain Park, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Becker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nancy Adler, pastor of the Mountain Park First United Methodist Church, officiating. He died Tuesday in a Lawton Hospital. Burial with military honors will be at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder, under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder. He was born Sept. 1, 1914, in Mountain Park. He served in the Army during World War II and fought in North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium and Germany. While in the service he earned the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, American Defense Service ribbon, EAME ribbon, the Distinguished Unit badge, Good Conduct medal, and the Purple Heart. Following the war, he came back to Mountain Park and farmed until his retirement. He married Gladys Mae Russell on July 14, 1941 in Cold Springs. She died Jan. 8, 2001. He was a member of the Mountain Park First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughter, Gayle Riddle of Lawton and Beth Burns and husband John of Altus; son Wayne and wife Fay Brown of Mountain Park; brother Bob Yandell of Silverton, Ore.; sister Lorraine Smart, New Plymouth, Idaho; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. She did private duty nursing and in later years worked for Jackson County Memorial Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her nursing career spanned 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Paul, Headlee, Tom, Charles "Pete"; two infant brothers; four sisters, Jewel Kuykendall, Billie Cotton, Carrie Mood and Blanche Daniels. She was given the name Hermenia Tilda at birth, but was known as Minnie by family and friends. She married Vestal Taylor (Dock) Nelson on May 14, 1930. She was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church in Mangum. She had served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was active in Women's Missionary Union until her health failed. She was also active in the Home Extension Club for many years. She lived on the farm northwest of Mangum since 1938. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed canning and freezing produce. She grew and canned her apples up until the time she had to leave the farm. She and her husband had five children, three daughters and two sons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, one daughter, Linda Westmoreland, one grandson, Montie Stanley, three sisters and three brothers. She is survived by daughters June McFarland of Moore, Gail Eubanks of Choctaw; sons David and wife Doren of Mt. Johnson Gladys Lucinda Johnson, 85, formerly of Victory, died Sunday in Fairfield, Calif. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Sonny Tims officiating. He preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1961. In December of 1984, she married Frankie Johnson and he preceded her in death in September of 1965. She returned to California in 1990 to be near her daughter and family. She owned many restaurants throughout the United States and worked at many apparel stores. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus. She was an avid collector of Beanie Babies and amassed playing cards from every state. She crocheted afghans for a cause and her afghans have been sent nationwide to various hospitals, nursing homes, HIV/AIDS and cancer patients. She volunteered at Altus nursing homes and also at the Grace Day Children's Center. She organized an annual Christmas project at the Northwinds Hospitality House in OKC where she gathered comfort items for HIV and AIDS patients. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for Altus Post 4876. She served as a lobbyist with political action committees. She was awarded the honor of National Volunteer of the Year for the VFW. She was the first woman to ever receive this honor. She volunteered at the Clinton Veterans Center for many years giving her time to veterans. She spent a great part of her life helping and caring for others. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Anthony and Eugene Chafarden. She is survived by her husband Robert of the home; daughter Lisa Erhardt and husband Dean of St. Louis, Mo.; three sons, Robert B. The Rev. T.O. Parsons and the Rev. Gary Buchanan will officiate. Martin was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Wellington, Texas to Otis and Sara Frances Martin. He was reared in the Gould and LaCassa areas near Hollis. He married Thelma Carrick Emmert Feb. 12, 1949 at Childress, Texas. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Living in Altus since 1959, he worked as a mechanic at Otasco for 20 years and as a Southwest Transit bus driver for 10 years before retiring. He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Altus and served many years as a Sunday school teacher and on the church board. He was a member of the Lions Club for more than 30 years, member of the American Legion and was an AARP volunteer. He is survived by his wife Thelma Martin of the home in Altus; three children, Pauletta Ferguson of Oklahoma City, Fred Emmert and wife Dulan of Lawton and Bonita and husband Richard Krepp of Ephrata, Penn.; four grandsons, Kriss and Greg Emmert, Russell Krepp and Neil Ferguson; granddaughter Lori Krepp; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorma Kirby of Hereford, Texas, Northena Eply of Freemont, Calif. and Redonda Staton of Ogden, Utah; many nieces nephews, his extended family and many friends. She was former manager of the TG&Y store in Tipton and later the fabric department manager for J.C. Penney's in Norman. She then went to work for the Morren's Custom Draperies for about three years. She was a member of the Berry Road Baptist Church in Norman. She was also a past matron for the Eastern Star in Tipton, a past high priestess and chaplain of the Moose Lodge in Norman. Her special interests were her family, sewing, choir and sports. She is survived by three daughters, Janet Yeager of Midwest City, Carol Parks and husband Dean of Edmond and Helen Honsinger and husband Dean of Kingman, Ariz.; two sons, David Laird of Austin, Texas and Gary Laird and wife Joreta of Hollis; brother Robert Hasley of Tipton; sister Epha Newman of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mitchell Laird, husband Percy Owen, six sisters, two brothers, one grandson and two granddaughters. Norton Vivian Lavera Norton, 81, long time resident of Cordell and Mangum, died at her home in Cordell on Tuesday. He was a member of the Eldorado Church of Christ, the Altus Rotary Club and the Mangum Alumni Association. He served on the Jackson County Fair Board and supported the Jackson County 4-H and FFA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. He was an avid OU fan and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. They lived northwest of Snyder for two years and then moved to a farm northeast of Blair. They farmed, ranched and had a large orchard until they retired. He was a member of the House of Prayer Church in Blair. He attended services regularly until his health failed. His hobbies included spending time with his wife and daughter, watching his grandsons grow up, reading the Bible and fishing. She was a lifelong resident of Paducah. She was a member of the Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church and of the Retried Teachers Association and the McCracken County Homemakers Club where she was named Homemaker of the Year. He grew up in Oklahoma City and San Bernardino, Calif. He graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1942. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a flight engineer instructor for the B-17. He graduated from Valley College in San Bernardino with a degree in business management. He worked as a medical equipment superintendent at San Bernardino County Medical Center, over seeing the operation of advanced hospital machinery including the iron lung. He retired after 25 years in 1979. He married Jerry Smith on Dec. 23, 1946 in Oklahoma City. They had three children. He was an active member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Altus, serving in the intercessory prayer ministry. He was an active member of the Tuesday Morning Interdenominational Men's Bible Study in Altus. He was a volunteer for the past six years at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in the snack bar. He enjoyed traveling, making handmade miniature covered wagons to scale and reading. He read the Bible through in several versions more than ten times. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. MARCH 26: Sifford Virgie "Tim" Sifford, long time resident of Harmon County, died Sunday at English Village Manor in Altus at the age of 92. Graveside services were held today at the Chillicothe Cemetery with Dale Freeman officiating. Burial was to follow at the cemetery under the direction of Patterson Greer Funeral Home. She lived in Gould, Eldorado, Quanah and Altus during her life. She was a Baptist. She was born June 7, 1909. She married Charles Timmons. After he died she married Charles Sifford who also preceded her in death. She is survived by two nieces, Donna Walker and Nancy Freeman; a nephew, Dale Freeman and many other nieces and nephews. Monroe Roy Clyde Monroe, 61, of Granite, died Sunday at Oklahoma City. Services are scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Holiness Church east of Blair with Brother Billy Hudson officiating. Burial will be at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf. He was born Nov. 20, 1940, in Blanchard to Stanley Marvin and Lundy Lucille (Brooks) Monroe. He married Elsie Jean Wright in 1958. He farmed and he enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his friends and family. He was a member of the Trinity Holiness Church of Blair. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Marvin Monroe; and a sister, Lorene Monroe. He is survived by one son, Johnny Clyde Monroe of Eldorado; two daughters, Vicki Blain and husband Mike of Granite and Shannon and husband James Scott of Rogers, Ark.; two brothers, Bill Monroe and wife Joann of Lone Wolf and Ed Monroe and wife Sandra of Headly, Texas; three sisters, Mary Edwards of Blair, Nell McGregor and husband Jerry of Lone Wolf and Pauline George and husband James of Argyle, Texas; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends. MARCH 27: Bellows Vanna (Hopper) Bellows, 97, formerly of Altus, died Monday at Brookview Hospital in San Pablo California. Funeral services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home. Blount Sidney Wright Blount died Tuesday at Hamilton General Hospital, Hamilton, Texas at the age of 95. Graveside services will be held at Liberty Hill Cemetery near Dawson at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Charles Wallace officiating. She was born May 3, 1906 at Liberty Hill to Daws and Nellie Dove Wright. She married Floyd Blount in 1925 at Hubbard, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1970. She lived in San Antonio, Texas; Hubbard, Texas; Athens, Texas; Seguin, Texas and Altus. She lived in Altus from 1949 until 1994 and was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. She had lived in the Total Living Center in Hubbard and Forrest Ridge in Hamilton, Texas. She was an accomplished writer and published a book on Sampson Stewart and many magazine articles. At one time, she was the Altus reporter for the Wichita Falls newspaper. She was president of the Southwest Oklahoma Penwomen in Altus and held many offices in the DAR. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Floyd Jr. and Anna Lee Blount of Athens and a niece Betty Sullins of Navarro Mills Lake, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard. Crabtree John E. Crabtree, 78, died Friday. Services were held Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Altus with Peoples Funeral Home of Lone Wolf in charge of arrangements. A private graveside service was held at the Altus City Cemetery. Brother Boyd Whitehead officiated. He was born Feb. 9, 1924 at Oklahoma City to John E. Crabtree, Sr. and Bessie Blunderfield Crabtree. He grew up in Oklahoma City and San Bernardino, Calif. He graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1942. He served in Army Air Corp during World War II. He was flight engineer instructor for the B-17. He graduated from Valley College in San Bernardino with a degree in business management. He worked as a medical equipment superintendent at San Bernardino County Medical Center, over seeing the operation of advanced hospital machinery including the iron lung. He retired after 25 years in 1979. He married Jerry Smith on Dec. 23, 1946 in Oklahoma City. They had three children. He was an active member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Altus, serving in the intercessory prayer ministry. He was an active member of the Tuesday Morning Interdenominational Men's Bible Study in Altus. For six years, he volunteered at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in the snack bar. He enjoyed traveling, making handmade miniature covered wagons to scale and reading. He read the Bible through in several versions more than ten times. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife Jerry of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Becky Crabtree of Portland, Ore.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Dennis Wattier of Caldwell, Idaho and Sandy and Carl Covey of Altus; grandchildren, Joe Covey of Altus, Scott and wife Shaundra Covey of Stillwater, Denny and wife Nikki Wattier of Caldwell, Idaho, Shalah and husband Rob Ducker of Richland, Washington, Wyatt and wife Dee Crabtree of Apex, N.C., John and wife Kerri Wattier of Boise, Idaho; nine great-grandchildren, Robert, Ashley, Joshua and Alec Ducker, Rusty and Emily, Chase Dana Wattier and Dalton Crabtree. MARCH 28: Bellows Vanna Bellows died Monday at Brookvue Hospital in San Pablo, Calif. from complications from a broken pelvis suffered in her apartment at Bay Retirement Home in Pinole, Calif. She was 97 years old. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Altus City Cemetery. She was born Aug. 23, 1904 in Paris, Texas, the third daughter of Joel and Rosa Hopper. When she was three, the Hoppers moved to Altus where Joel was a farmer and Baptist preacher. She graduated in 1923 from Altus High School. She attended college for two years and obtained a teacher's certificate. She worked at the First National Bank for several years after a brief stint teaching. In 1934, she was elected county treasurer for Jackson County. After her term was over, she worked for the State Auditor's Office, checking the books for all counties in Oklahoma. She married Tom Bellows of Altus on March 27, 1937. After her sons were old enough for school, she worked with her husband in Bellows Insurance Agency of Altus. In 1972, both she and her husband retired. They moved to Vallejo, Calif. in 1979. Her husband died in 1984 and was buried at the Altus City Cemetery. She is survived by her two sons, Joe Bellows of Martinez, Calif. and Frank Bellows of El Cerrito, Calif; Joe's wife, Linda and Frank's wife, Kirsti plus grandchildren, Grant and Julia Bellows of El Cerrito, Calif. Garnett Hugh B. Garnett, 90, died Tuesday. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church. Russell Funeral services for Dorothy Elizabeth Russell, 85, Tipton, were held today at the First Baptist Church of Tipton. The Rev. Royce Couch, Indiahoma Baptist minister, officiated. Burial followed at the Tipton Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Gray-Gish Tipton Funeral Home. She died Wednesday at Lawton. She was born Dec. 26, 1916 in Marietta to Henry Frank and Nora May (Kittrell) Michael. She married Clyde Thomas Russell Oct. 24, 1931, at Tipton. He died May 20, 1992. She worked as a cook in many cafes and diners in the area including Mildred's Cafe for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tipton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Neal Russell; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hatcher, and two sisters, Marie Huckaby and Oda Simms. Survivors include four sons, Houie Ray Russell and wife Chleota of Tipton, Norman Dale Russell and wife Bertha of Lawton, Thomas Franklin Russell and wife Mary of Tipton and Donald Wayne Russell of Lawton; a daughter, Louise McMenamin of Walters; two brothers, Weldon Michael of Snyder and Coy Ray Michael and wife Virginia of Snyder; two sisters, Euna Walker and husband Oren of Mountain Park and Christine Elledge and husband Cecil of Baytown, Texas; 25 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. MARCH 29: Garnett Hugh B. Garnett, 90, Altus civic leader and businessman, died Tuesday night at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Altus with the Rev. Doug Burr. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Residing at 320 Paseo de Vida, Garnett was a former Altus City Councilman, the owner and operator of KWHW Radio, and the owner and manager of Garnett Loans. Garnett was the son of pioneer Altus settlers, Elmer Logan and Lela Bernard Garnett. Born in Altus on July 12, 1911, Garnett attended public schools in Altus and was raised in the family home at 801 East Commerce Street. Following graduation from Altus High School in 1928, he attended the University of Oklahoma where he graduated in 1932 with a B.S. degree in Business. At OU he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta social fraternity. Returning to Altus after graduation, Garnett began 60 years of public service to this community and Jackson County. He was a long time member of the Board of Control of Jackson County Memorial Hospital, and in 1948 helped obtain the Hill-Burton funds for the construction of the hospital. He was chairman of the Jackson County Chapter of the American Red Cross (1951-52), President of the Black Beaver Council of the Boy Scouts of America (1951-52), President of the Altus Real Estate Board (1949), and President of the Altus Chamber of Commerce (1941). He joined the Altus Rotary Club in 1933, and was an active participant in the club's activities for more than 60 years. He had many years of perfect attendance, and was elected to a variety of offices, including President. He was program chairman for eight years, and a Paul Harris Fellow. As a city council member in the 1950's, he was instrumental in changing Altus to a city manager form of government, which led to the selection of Altus as an All-American City. On Dec. 30, 1939 he was married to the former Glee Miller, also a graduate of OU, who survives him. During World War II Garnett was commissioned First Lieutenant of Field Artillery. He was promoted to Captain, and served in a variety of training posts at bases in the United States during the war. His influence with his close friend and college fraternity brother, United States Sen. Mike Monroney, was crucial in securing the United States Air Force Base in Altus. With his wife Glee, Garnett was a lifelong Democrat and an active supporter of the American Civil Liberties Union in Oklahoma. He was chairman of the Oklahoma Council on Crime and Delinquency Commission which recommended several prison reforms. At OU he was founding member and served as chairman of the Sooners Associates for Excellence, for which the university honored him in 1988. Following retirement from the loan business and as Vice President of the National Bank of Commerce, Garnett became interested in broadcasting and purchased KWHW. He greatly increased public affairs programming at the station, and added an FM outlet. Before retiring from this second career he has also owned and operated KWON in Bartlesville and KNOR in Norman. He was a long time treasurer of the First United Methodist Church in Altus. Garnett traveled widely throughout the United States, Europe and Asia with his wife and family. He visited China seven times, with the first visit in the early 1970's when the country was first opened to western tourism. His optimism defined his character. He saw only the best and expected on the best from people and events, and as a consequence, they almost always delivered. On the few occasions they didn't, he was tolerant and forgiving, and almost never expressed disappointment. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Mrs. Marjorie McAskill, of Altus. He is survived by his wife, Glee, of Altus; two children, Jean Garnett (Mrs. Hugh J.) Moore of Chattanooga, Tenn, and Hugh B. Garnett, Jr., of Lake Texoma, Texas; two grandchildren, Lela Miller Moore of Hoboken, N.J., and Sarah Garnett Moore of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Jean (Mrs. Charles) Engleman of Clinton, and Ruth (Mrs. Louis K.) Sharpe of Checotah, a brother, Logan Garnett, Altus, and many nieces and nephews. Graham Lela Graham, 91, died Thursday. Services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. MARCH 31: Sanders Dorothy Sanders, 83, of Hollis died Friday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Hollis with the Rev. Dee Willis officiating. Burial will follow at the Dryden Cemetery under the direction of Patterson Greer Funeral Home. She was born April 28, 1918 in Vernon, Texas to Ansel and Anna Bell Hogan. She was a resident of the Hollis area all her life. She had a long career as a nurse working for 20 years at the nursing home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hollis. Survivors include her husband H.W. Sanders of the home; one daughter, Ann Coker of Cottonwood, Ariz. and one brother, Lowerce Hogan of Henrietta, Texas. Graham Lela Frances Graham, 91, of Altus, died Friday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Highland Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marty Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Lela Mims Graham was born Nov. 15, 1910 to Annie Florence and Robert Gaston Mims at Temple. Her family later moved to Walters where she attended school and later worked as a telephone operator. She married S.E. (Sebe) Graham Oct. 29, 1930. They made their home in Walters until the beginning of World War II when they moved to Wichita, Kan. moving to Altus in 1946. She was a member of the Highland Heights United Methodist Church. She worked for the Altus Public School System in the cafeteria for 13 years, retiring as the supervisor of the Mendel Rivers School Cafeteria at Altus Air Force Base. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her four children including two daughters, Sally and Lee Doughty, Sonya and Bob Reagan and two sons, Max and Rae Graham, all of Altus, and Ron and Claudia Graham of Rhome, Texas, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one sister, Ruth Spratt, also of Altus. Marceleno Macario "Mack" Marceleno, 62, Altus, died Friday at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel at the Kincannon Funeral Home and the Rev. Larry Ortega officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. He was born March 10, 1940, to Jesus Marceleno Sr. and Placida Gutierez Marceleno in Colorado City, Texas. He met Janie Ortega and the two were married on Dec. 11, 1965 in Altus. He was a member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista Church in Altus. He had a variety of skills including being an auto mechanic and handy man. His hobbies include NASCAR, walking his dog Harvard and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Inosenta (Nena) Rosales; four brothers, Inez, Miguel, Juan and Severano (Sam) Marceleno. Survivors include his wife Janie of the home; two daughters, Elaine Perez and husband Moses of San Antonio, Texas and Cynthia Duit and husband Paul of Oklahoma City; a son, Randy Mack Marceleno of Altus; a sister, Juliana Benibamonde, Altus; three brothers, Jesus G. Marceleno, Jr., Altus, Manuel Marceleno of Elk City and Cruz Marceleno of Florida and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
