Bellenger Francelle Bellenger died May 8 in Dallas. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m Wednesday at the Cox Chapel, Highland Park Methodist Church in Dallas. She was born Aug. 6, 1910 in Altus to Mr. and Mr. H.B. Bellenger. Her father was the former president of the First National Bank of Altus. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. She graduated from Stephens in 1930 with an associates degree in arts and music. She then attended Southern Methodist University and graduated in 1932 with a bachelor's degree in music. Later she studied with Isadore Philip, head of the Paris Conservatoire in France, and in Texas with Dalies Franz and Putnam Aldrich. She taught piano at Stephens College from 1934 and 1938. She gave concerts in Texas, New York, Indiana and California, Havana, Cuba. She married Dr. Jack Olway Watkins Rach in 1938. They divorced in 1955. Survivors included a sister, Elizabeth Ballenger Sweeney of Pacific Palisades, Calif., a niece and two nephews. Blain Lydia Mae Blain, 90, Granite, died Monday at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home Chapel, Lone Wolf. Burial will be at the Granite City Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf. She was born Feb. 8, 1911, in Antlers to William and Sara Frances (Holly) Marlow. She attended school at Rattan. She married Claude Elvie Sizemore in 1929. He died in 1956. She married William C. Blain in Dallas on Dec. 21, 1970. She was a cook at Duffer's Restaurant and at other restaurants for more than 15 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was preceded in by her husband, Elvin, her parents; a son, Claude Carter Sizemore, who died in 1985; an infant daughter, Barbara Ann; one-great-grandson, Chad Barrick, who died in 2001; a sister, Mary McClendon, who died in 1971; and one brother, John Marlow who died in 2000. Survivors include her husband, William, of the home: a son, Elvie Sizemore, Jr. of Grace Living Center in Mangum; five daughters, Lillie May of Perry. Ark., Bea Barrick of Joaquin, Texas, Trudy Seeger of Dillsboro, Ind. Rita Sizemore of Granite and Nita Anderson of Navarre Beach, Fla.; step-daughters, Janice Blain of Corpus Christie, Texas and Brenda Blain of Altus; a step-son, Mike Blain of Granite; a sister, Ledy Mae Boles of Houston, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. Coberly Orval Coberly, 77, of Eldorado, died Monday at Grace Living Center in Altus. Graveside services will be held at he Eldorado Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday with Dean Goodfellow officiating. Visitation will be at the Lowell-Tims Chapel in Eldorado from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday. He was born Sept. 29, 1924. He and his wife Olene were long time residents of the Eldorado community. She preceded him in death May 5. 1981. Survivors include a step-daughter, Anna Britton and husband Leslie of Brownsville, Texas and two half brothers. Carroll Charles R. Carroll, 51, Blair, died Tuesday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are pending at Kincannon Funeral Home. Dodson Rubin Edward Dodson, A Wewoka resident passed away Saturday in Holdenville at the age of 96. Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brinkman Cemetery near Mangum. Services are under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Pastor Mildred Gable will officiate. He was born March 16, 1905 to James and Lula (Johnson) Dodson in Therell, Texas. He was raised in Greer County. He married Katy Hazel Kemper July 18, 1925 in Greer County and in 1945 they moved to Harrisburg, Ore. He was ordained as a minister in the early 1940's. He served as the minister for several church including the Assembly of Jesus Christ since 1946 and the Light House Temple in Madras, Ore in 1973. He was also a factory worker. He worked for Pierce Manufacturing until retiring in 1968. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Ralph Edward Dodson and Charlie David Dodson; a daughter, Peggy Joreen Dodson; a grandson, Micheal Dodson, one great-grandson, Douglas Winstead and nine brothers and three sisters. Survivors include four daughters, Mickey LeGerreettee of Vancouver, Wash., Matilda Costa of Marysville, Wash., Patti Rowe of Wewoka and Dorothy Prom of Harrisburg, Ore.; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive him. Gastineau Mary Gastineau, 95, died Saturday at Tishomingo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis. A W. "Buddy" Burch will officiate. She was born June 23, 1905 in new Boston, Texas to J.R. and Bertha Lee Wilson Morehead, Sr. She was a graduate of Parnell Schools in Parnell, Texas and was a bookkeeper for a cotton gin and a construction company. She also enjoyed China painting. She lived in Mill Creek and Ravia since 1965, and has lived at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Tishomingo since 1985. Survivors include a brother, Vaughn Morehead of Pixley, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Wood of Delta, Colo. and Eileen Drake of Delano, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Billie Joe Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Eileen Morehead of Pixley, Calif.; her grandchildren, Vicky Pate and Jan Hale both of Hollis, Susan Cummins of Altus, Kim Ward of Tucson, Ariz. Morehead, Jr. and sister, Myrtis Cowart. Gilchrist Aaron Lynn Gilchrist, 22, died Sunday at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home of Lone Wolf. The Rev. Ruth Atterberry, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Lone Wolf. He was born on Nov. 17, 1978, in Altus to Thomas Lynn and Johna Ruth Norcross Gilchrist. He attended Waurika Schools until the seventh grade, when he moved to Lone Wolf. He attended Lone Wolf and Hobart schools and graduated from Duncan High School in 1997. He worked for CR Industries at Hobart and also at Hastings at Altus. He was currently employed by PALCO and was working at Lawton. His hobbies included fishing and listening to his many CDs. Survivors include his father and step-mother, Thomas and Karen Gilchrist of Duncan; his mother and step-father, Johna and Glenn Straub of Lone Wolf; two sisters sister and one brother-in-law, Lyndsi and Wes Moore of Roosevelt, Halie Gilchrist of Duncan; two step-sisters, Marsha and Melanie; a nephew, Cade Moore of Roosevelt; and several cousins, aunts and uncle. He was preceded in death by Horace Norcross. Glaser Mary L. Glaser, 61, Lenexa, Kan., died Saturday at her home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Restlawn Cemetery north of Altus. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born Nov. 19, 1939 in Albuquerque, N.M. to Sam and Lorine O'Keiff. She was the granddaughter of May Ingle of Altus. She grew up in Altus and Harlingen, Texas. After earning a BS degree in Elementary Education from Lamar State College, she completed her Master of Education from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. She was an elementary school teacher in Texas and Kansas. She was a member of the Association of University Women, Junior Women's Symphony Alliance and Women's City Club. Survivors include daughters, Kimberly Ewing and husband Mark of Tulsa and Jennifer Brownell of Salt Lake City and grandchildren Marcie and Madeline Ewing of Tulsa. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or to cancer research. Green William Thomas, "Tom" Green, 83, died Sunday. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Foreman and the Rev. Keith Gillham officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. He was born June 1, 1917 at Duke to Dave and Buna (Vail) Green. He attended Stony Point School and graduated from La Homa High School in 1936. He married Mary Alice Bearden May 4, 1940 at McQueen. He was a long time farmer in Jackson and Greer Counties. He was the owner and CEO of Southwest Oklahoma Telephone Company of Duke. He was a founder and long time president of the Duke Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in getting the Republic Gypsum Plant to locate in Duke. He served as director on the board of both Republic Gypsum and the Hollis and Eastern Railroad for many years. He was special supporter of children. He conducted the Children Moments for many years in the Duke First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Building Committee Chairman. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Mary Green, of Duke; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan Green Wycoff and George Wycoff; a son and daughter-in-law, Donivan and Jane Green of Duke; grandchildren, Becky Green Combs and Phillip Combs, Michelle Green Shaw and Mike Shaw, Rana Wycoff Womack and Alan Womack, all of Duke; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Combs, RyLee Combs, and Sydney Shaw; a sister, Nell Nicolson, of Clinton; many nieces, nephews, and many friends in the community and within the telephone industry around Oklahoma. Heath Dewey Delbert Heath, 87, passed away Saturday at Harmon County Memorial Hospital in Hollis. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Hollis with the Rev. Jim Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be at the McNight Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis. He was born Jan. 15, 1914 to George and Ogie Balch Heath. He went to school in Quanah, Texas. He married Marie Bryson Dec. 26, 1933 in Hollis. He lived the majority of his life in Hollis. He was a mechanic. He was the mayor of Hollis for 19 years and a fireman and the fire chief for 20 years. Survivors include a son, Terrell and his wife Connie of Wichita Falls, Texas; two daughters, Gwen and her husband Don Richardson of Oklahoma City and Pam Heath of Hollis; six granddaughters, Donette Long and Denise Allison, Delana Ellison, Dee Metcalf, Tina Pemartz and Terra Heath; three grandsons, Heath Beanland, Capt. She was a former member of the Victory Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gwen Hensley in 1985, three sisters and two brothers. Huff Jewett Edward Huff, 92, died Sunday at Amarillo, Texas. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Llano East Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Reimer, officiating. He was born June 10, 1908, to Frank L. and Hattie Hill Huff in Big Spring, Texas. He lived in Altus from 1910 until 1951. He married Mabel Walker in Altus Feb. 2, 1929. He went to work for Southwest Bell Telephone Co. when he was 15 years old. He retired from the company 1974. He worked for the company for almost 49 years without missing a day of work. Survivors include his wife, Mabel of the home in Amarillo; a daughter, Judith Anne Gilbert of Amarillo; two sons, Glen Douglas Huff of Oklahoma City and Jewett Eugene Huff of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Paul Edward Huff of Sugarland, Texas, Houston Huff, Blair Huff, and Ben Cooper all of Oklahoma City, Brandon Gilbert, Mary Gilbert Anderson and Ruth Gilbert Vertrees, all of Winfield. She was a member of the Family Worship Center in Altus. Hunter Mettie Alpha Hunter, 91, a lifetime resident of Jackson County, died Saturday. Services will be at 2 p.m. at the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Hess Cemetery. She was born June 5, 1909 in Palmer, Oklahoma to Clem and Mary Dicy Edwards. Following high school, she attended business school in Missouri. When she returned to Altus, she worked for the Altus Times Democrat as a reporter and in print production. She married Walter Glenn Hunter on April 16, 1933 at Altus. Her primary focus became raising their three children, Nancy, Kelsey and Dicy. In 1955 she returned to the clerical work force in Base Supply at Altus Air Force Base. She continued there until her retirement in 1974. She has been an active member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ since the Spring of 1949. She is survived by a son, Dr. Walter Kelsey Hunter of Ephrata, Wash; a daughter, Mary Dicy Winkler of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Glenn Hunter; her daughter, Nancy Henderson; and a grandson, Barry Winkler. Jackson Lillie Mae Jackson, 82, Altus, died Monday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Willie Jackson officiating and Elder Robert Green assisting. Visitation began today and will last until the day of the service. She was born Jan. 1, 1919 in Okmulgee to Mack McCoy and Annie Harrison McCoy. She married Mel Jackson Sept. 30, 1939 in Denton County, Texas. He died in 1989. She was active at the Altus First Church of God in Christ where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also homemaker and her hobby was sewing. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and five sisters. She died Friday at her daughter and son-in-law's home. She was born Aug. 15, 1912 in a small house behind "The McKnight Store" nine miles north of Hollis to John Wesley and John Margaret Mitchell. She was raised in Hollis where married L.M. Kirby when she was 15 and he was 21. They moved to California in 1937. They came back to Hollis and bought a farm. Her husband ran the concession at the theater for 12 years. Together they built Kirby Motel and Restaurant in 1959. Survivors include one brother, Denny Mitchell and his wife Lorene of Searcey, Ark.; two daughters, Diane and Tony Kysil of Elyria, Ohio; Billie and Jerry Elrod of Elk City; two daughters-in-law, Connie Kirby Richeson of Altus Frances Kirby of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren and 15-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, David Kirby. Lankford Edith Vernell Lankford, 69, Hobart, Sunday at B & K Nursing Home in Hobart. She was born Jan. 17, 1932 in Atoka to Larry and Ruby mae (Betts) Welch. She attended school at Sentinel. She married Steve Lankford Oct. 2, 1986 in Hobart. Lewis Billie Ruth Murphy Lewis, 44, Blair, died Wednesday in Colorado. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Blair, the Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. She was born Nov. 29, 1956 in Amarillo, Texas to Billy Ruth and Mary Agitha (Shaninberger) Murphy. She attended school in Sulphur and Manitou, as well as Tipton High School. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blair Cemetery. McDonald Joe P. McDonald, 86, died at his home in Edmond on Saturday. He was born June 13, 1914, in Mena, Ark. to Charles A. & Mary Moore McDonald. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1932 and grew up working at the Wilson Flour and Feed Company. He married Irene Hamilton Jan. 28, 1934 at Wichita Falls, Texas. She died in 1994. He married Lela Stephens June 8, 1999 in Lawton. He was always active in a church where he lived. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mangum for more than 50 years before joining the Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond last year. He served as a volunteer of the New Hope rehabilitation unit in Mangum. He operated the Honor Bilt Feed Mills in Mangum from 1934 to 1977. He and his wife Irene owned several nursing homes around Oklahoma. He was Civil Service combat pilot instruction at Chickasha during World War II. He originated the Wilson "No Host Reunions" which started many years ago. He was an active member of the American Legion and the Chamber of Commerce for many years. He served several terms as Greer County Republic Chairman. He was active in Republic state politics. Survivors include his wife, Lela, of Edmond; a daughter, Maryanne Fite, Edmond; two grandsons, Kurt Fite and Kris Fite and his wife Kelly and their two daughters, Lauren and Lindsey Pryor all of Edmond two sisters, Thelma Williamson of Lawton and August Beauchamp of Fowler, Calif.; a brother, Tom R. McDonald from Dataskala, Ohio. McSpadden Curtis McSpadden died Thursday at his home in Gatesville, Texas. He was a member of the Baptist Church. His grandparents were the first to homestead in Jackson County and his grandmother was one of the founders of Altus. Survivors include his wife, Linda McSpadden of Gatesville, Texas; a daughter, Donna and Leon James of Altus; three great-grandchildren, Steve and Wendy Williams of Quanah, Texas, Robbie and Kathy James of Altus and Kyle and Sheryl James of Blair; eight great-grandchildren and a cousin, Lucille Walker of Altus. Neil Connie Connor Neil passed away Friday. Services were held Sunday at the First United Methodist Church of Mangum. The Rev. Elbert Shumaker and the Rev. Charles Watson officiated. Greer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements Burial was at the Riverside Cemetery. She was born Jan. 24, 1903 to Harlan "Cap" and Minnie Rowley Connor in Ross, Texas. They came in a covered wagon to Vinson, spending nights in the wagon yards on their way from Ross. Their first home was southwest of Cave Creek Cemetery near Vinson. The Cave Creek school was south of the cemetery. She attended school there from first grade through the sixth grade. She transferred to Mangum schools in the seventh grade and graduated from Mangum High School in May, 1921. She married Clyde E. Neil, in 1923 at Vinson and they had three daughters, Nancy, Carolyn and Lida Sue. She attended Southwest Oklahoma State University in Weatherford for two years, receiving a lifetime teaching certificate. She taught first grade at Vinson from 1926 to 1929. She was a seamstress, sewing for her family and friends. She also worked with Girl Scouts and used her artistic talent working with flowers at Mildreds Flower Shop for many years. In later years she loved quilting and China painting. She was active member of the Methodist Church including the United Methodist Women and was a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Bob Gee of Miami, Okla., Lida and Ron Elkins of Oklahoma City and Carolyn and Elbert Shumaker of Mangum; eight grandchildren, Robert Neil Gee, Catherine Gee, Elizabeth Crews and husband Doug, Kenneth Gee, Craig Elkins and wife Virginia, Susan Elkins, Lyndon Shumaker and wife Jennifer and Norman Shumaker; four great-grandchildren, Cooper, Grant and Monica Elkins and Brittany Rollins; two special friends, Roma Pigg and Ann Williams and other relatives and many friends. She married Roy B. Pryor Dec. 23, 1933. She worked for Bill Cargal Grocery, Cecil Chastain, Junior Cargal and Ellis Cargal.. She later worked for the United Supermarket on South Main and then the North Main United. She was a resident of Jackson County for most her life and a long time member of the First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included quilting, yardwork, cards, and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Jack Todd of Blair, Barbara and O.W. Dollins of Altus and Linda and Ray Bob Burden of Evergreen, Col.; one sister, Emma Sue Roberts of Miam, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kevin and Brent Burden, Mike and Jay Todd, Justin Buxton, J.J. Gray, D'Ann Williams, Susan Todd, Jaime Gray, Dustin and Ashley Hasley, Kylie Todd, Sam, Ben, and Thomas Burden; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and six sisters, a grandson, Steve Todd in 1991 and a great-granddaughter, Amber McBride in 1986. Robinson Janet Bingham Robinson, 58, died Sunday. Services are pending with Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis. Scholle Paul Gladstone Scholle, 99, Oklahoma City, died Friday. He was born Aug. 12, 1901 at Belvidere, Ill. to William and Maude Scholle. He had been a resident of South Park Manor for a number of years. Paul Scholle and Irene Brandt were married in 1925. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years in 1994. He was also preceded in death by a son, George Scholle in 1985, five sisters and two brothers. He is survived by one daughter, Betty Dollins and husband Homer of Altus; two sons, Donald and wife Doris of Oklahoma City and Paul and wife Kieko of Tulsa; a sister, Evelyn Fraiser of Oklahoma City; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was a 21-year employee of Frisco Railroad coming to Altus in 1945 as the section foreman. He later retired from civil service at Tinker Air Force Base. He was the oldest living member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Branstetter-Merritt Rosewood Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial following at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Sirmons Benjamin Sirmons, 20, Altus, died Tuesday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are pending at Kincannon Funeral Home. Smith Funeral services for Mark "Fat Cat" D. Smith, 22, of Tipton, will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Tipton, with the Rev. Emmitt Hayslip officiating. He passed away Friday near Tipton. Burial will be at the Tipton Cemetery under the direction of Tipton Memorial Chapel, Tipton. He was born March 2, 1979 in Lawton to David and Debra (Ward) Smith. He grew up in Tipton and graduated in the top third of his class from Tipton High School in 1997. In his senior year, he was starting offensive guard for the Tipton Tiger football team which won their second state championship. He was named all-district offensive guard. After graduation he worked in construction and had been employed with Maah's Brothers of Altus for two years. He married Melissa Diane Kitchens on May 6, 2000 in Mountain Park and they made they made their home there. He was a member of the Chickasaw Tribe. He enjoyed football and all sports. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He collected antiques and was a mechanic. He also spent time watching movies and boxing. Survivors include his wife Melissa; daughter, Cheyenne; parents, David and Debra Smith; a brother, Bryan Keith Smith; sister, Krystal Ann Smith, all of Tipton; maternal grandparents, William and Frankie Ward of Frederick and paternal grandparents, the late Eugene and Jackie Smith. Southall Dr. Jack Newton Southall, 80, longtime Nowata resident died Friday at the Nowata Nursing Center. Services were held Saturday at the Hillside Christian Church in Nowata with Bert Killion officiating. He was born Nov. 16, 1920 at Frederick to John and Nellie (James) Southall. His parents died when he was young. He was raised by his sister, Blance and her husband Hank Johnston. He was raised and received his education at Tipton and Altus. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M College with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a captain with the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart with a Bronze Star. He married Lou Nettie Strickland on Feb. 24, 1945, at Nowata. They lived all but four years of their married life in these area. He was a member of the OSU Alumni Association and the OSU "O" Club letterman's association and the Oklahoma and NE Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Associations. He was named to the Jackson County Hall of Fame. He played one year of professional football with the Detroit Lions in 1945. He was honored by Joseph Buxton, President of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association for being a mentor to him. Dr. Southall was one of the founding members of the Nowata Lions Club where he also received his 50-year award. He was also a member of Sunrise Chapter number 22 of the Order of the Eastern Star. The Scottish Rite of Tulsa, American Legion Post Number 101 and Moose Lodge number 1322. Survivors include his wife Lou Netti of the home, a sons, Jackson Southall, II and his wife, Joanne of Broken Arrow, three daughters, Susan Faulkner and her husband, Benjamin, of Tulsa, Jamie Hicks and her husband Kennie of Nowata, and Jill Seale and her husband, Chris, of Nowata; eight grandchildren, Samantha and J.B. Faulkner of Tulsa , Mark and Ben Southall of Broken Arrow; Luke Maggard and Joseph Seale of Nowata; Dusty Hicks and his wife Wendy of Nowata and Stephen Hicks of Bartlesville; great-grandchildren, Cory and Emily Hicks of Nowata. Stewart Funeral services for Woodrow Riley Stewart, 87, of Wichita Falls, Texas former resident of Tipton will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Tipton with the Rev. Johnny Tims officiating. He died Thursday in Wichita Falls. Burial will be at the Tipton Cemetery under the direction of Gray-Gish Funeral Home of Frederick. He was born March 2, 1914 in Glenn, Oklahoma to John and Effie (McCarley) Stewart. He moved to Stephens County with his family as a young boy where he remained during his childhood. He married Verna Mae Perry on July 31, 1940 in Frederick and made their home in Tipton. They later moved to California where he worked as a foreman in a orchid for eight years. He and his family moved to Arkansas where he ranched and farmed until they moved back to Tipton in 1972. He was employed with Tillman County as an heavy equipment operator for several years. He moved to Wichita Falls in 1999 where they have resided since. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tipton. His hobby was gardening and he was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. Survivors include his wife, Verna, of the home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Jini Stewart of Visalia, Calif., Steven Steward of Corpus Christi, Texas and Joel Stewart of Wichita Falls; a sister, Myrtle Fowler of Porterville, Calif.; three grandchildren, Rhonda Collins of Visalia, Calif., Chris Stewart of Irving, Texas and Patricia Stewart of Norfolk, Va.; and five grandchildren. Tackett Ronnye Adele Tackett, 57, Olustee, died Tuesday at Southwest Medical Center in Lawton. She was born Runnye Adele Hudgen in San Angelo, Texas. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Melvin and Maureen Hudges of San Angelo and her brother Wayne Hudgens of Cleveland, Ohio. Survivors include her children, Andrew and Carolyn Brooks of Albuquerque, N.M., William Brooks of Kierkersville, Ohio, Pamela and Terry Cook of Pataskala, Ohio, Debbie and Paul Brown of Olustee and Melvin and Missy Brooks of Kirkersville, Ohio; her brother, Davis Hudgens of Fort Worth, Texas; and 13 grandchildren. Teague Virginia Moon Teague, 93, Albuquerque, N.M. and former Altus resident died Saturday in Albuquerque. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf. She was born July 29, 1907 in Tulsa to James Noah and Sarah Elizabeth (Bolton) Moon. She attended Pleasant Point, Altus High School, and graduated in 1925. She attended Southwestern in the summer, returned to Altus where she enrolled in and graduated from Altus Business School. She lived in Tulsa, Altus and Albuquerque, but spent most of her life in Altus. She married P. Oxford Teague Feb. 12, 1927 in her parents' home in Altus. He died in October, 1984. She owned and operated the Stop & Shop Grocery Store in Altus. She was a member of the Hoffmantown Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Noah and Sarah Elizabeth; her husband, Oxford, whom he was married for 57 years; one brother, Woodrow Moon: sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Moon Jackson and her husband, Cecil and Vera Moon Bickford and her husband, Joe. Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Teague Shelby and her husband, Dale of Albuquerque; a brother, Charles L. Moon of Arcata, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Nova Teague Fells and Winnie Chandler Moon; three grandchildren, Terry Wayne, and Alan Shelby; and one great-grandchild, Alec Shelby. Underwood John Jefferson Underwood, 69, Mangum died at his home Saturday. He was born to John J. and Martha (Strange) Underwood on Sept. 23, 1931 at Clinton. He served his country in the military. He returned to live at Mangum during the fall of 2000, moving from Colorado. Survivors include his brother Jance Underwood of Willow; niece and nephew Jacob and Jalissa Underwood, an aunt, Thelma Underwood and other relatives and friends. No services are at this time. Greer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Walker Services for James C. (Jimmy) Walker, 73, Snyder, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church, Snyder, with the Rev. Nancy Adler officiating. He died Friday at a Lawton hospital. Burial will be at the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder. He was born Dec. 5, 1927 in Clinton. He married Mary Dell Stepp on Aug. 20, 1959 in Lawton. He owned Walker Lumber and Ace Hardware in Snyder for 55 years, before retiring in February of 2000. He was a resident of Snyder for 50 years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, The Snyder Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Mary Dell Walker of the home; a son, Dr. James Steven Walker and wife Beth of Edmond; a daughter, Sharon Kemphf and her husband Karl of Phoenix; a sister, Betty Ratliff of Amarillo; three grandsons, Jonathan Walker and Brett Walker both of Edmond and Jeremy Sheets of Phoenix; and two nieces. Watkins Narvel Watkins, 90, long time Eldorado farmer, died Tuesday at his home on the farm. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Alan Egerton will officiate. He was born March 2, 1911 in Winnsboro, Texas to Charley and Fannie (Fowler) Watkins. he attended Lincoln School in southwest Jackson County near Eldorado. He married Mary Driver Oct. 12, 1935 in Altus. He farmed all of his life. He was a dedicated farmer and enjoyed working the land and bringing in a crop. His wife, Mary died Nov. 20, 1994 after 59 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Bob McGrew, Norman; Kay and Sam Nott, McKinney, Texas; two sisters, Velma Lawrence, Iowa Park, Texas, and Daphine Reid, Snyder and Eldorado; two brothers, Ted Watkins, Cathedral City, Calif.; Darwin Watkins, Hope Hull, Ala.; four grandchildren, Cyndi Byars, Norman, Shanna Simmons, Klamath Falls, Ore., Lesley Simmons, Zhengshon, China, Chris Nott, Abilene, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Chloe Byars, Norman and a special friend, Annetta Hunter, Quanah, Texas. A viewing will be at the Eldorado Chapel from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Zapata Rose Zapata died Monday at the age of 62, at Harmon Memorial Hospital in Hollis. She was born Sept. 28, 1937 in Holly, Colo. to Gerado and Matilda (Salazar) Ortiz. She married Paul Zapata in 1955, and they moved to Hollis where they made their home for 46 years. She was a housewife and a member of the Our Lady of Gaudalupe Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Paul, of the home; two sons, Ernest Zapata of Arizona, Anselmo Zapata, of Arizona; three sisters, Josie Martinez of Colorado, Leno Ortiz of Colorado, Manuel Ortiz of Colorado; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Whisenant Ben Whisenant, 79, died Thursday, at University Hospital in Oklahoma City. Services were held Saturday at the First Christian Church of Holdenville. The Rev. Don Campo officiated. Burial was held Saturday afternoon at the Fairmount Cemetery of Hollis. The Rev. David Furlow officiated. Services were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville and Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis. He was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Hollis to Ben Christian and Mary Adna (Miller) Whisenant. He was brought up in Hollis and graduated from Hollis High School. He joined the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Army Air Force. He then returned to Hollis He worked with father on the family farmer for many years and then lived in Arizona for several years. For 27 years he owned and operated his business "Grade Stakes", a survey stake manufacturing company. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Holdenville. He was active in counseling people in Holdenville, Shawnee and Wewoka with alcohol and chemical dependency problems. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Whisenant of Holdenville; two sons, Ben C. Whisenant and wife Evette of Mangum and Glen Whisenant and his wife Alice of Brazoria, Texas; nine grandchildren, Lita Matthews and her husband Johnny of Ada, Benita Castillo and husband Eric of Yukon, Brad Whisenant and wife Faith of Hollis, Becky Whisenant of Weatherford, Jason Whisenant of Brazoria, Texas, Wesley Whisenant of Lake Jackson, Texas, Lauren Whisenant of Lake Jackson, Texas and Kristi Valls and her husband Noah of Wellington, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Skye Valles, Kaytlan Valles, and Alyssa Whisenant and one sister, Beth Lindsey of Hollis. Whitfield Virginia Dell Whitfield, 80, died Thursday at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Church of God in Binger with the Rev. Don Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery under the Direction of Steverson Funeral Home. A viewing will be will be from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home in Anadarko. She grew up in Dodson, Texas and graduated from Temple, Texas High School. She married Muriel Whitfield in 1938 at Hollis. They lived for 12 years in Dodson and moved to Blair where they lived for the next 30 years. Her husband died in 1991 and she then moved to Fort Cobb. She was licensed beautician and had her own shop in Blair. She had been a life-long member of the Church of the Nazarene. She joined the Church of God in Binger in the early 1990s. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included reading, making quilts and embroidery. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Vicki Daniels and a daughter-in-law. Sheila Godfrey Whitfield. Survivors include one daughter, Jerry North and her husband Valentine Berger of Seattle; a son, Bruce Whitfield of Fort Cobb; four grandson, Paul North and Brendon North, both of O'Fallon, Mo., Kerry Lemons of Ardmore and Shawn Lemons of Sherwood, Ark.; two granddaughters, Robin Bradford, Sherwood, Ark.. and Michelle Whitfield of Boston; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and many friends.
