Alvarado, born on August 22, 1911, died on November 25, 2000 at the age of 89 in San Antonio, Texas. Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Ortega officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell- Tims Funeral Home. Joe grew up in Odessa Texas, during the depression years, consequently, he attended school only through the 6th grade. He joined the CCC and later enlisted in the military and served in the U.S. Air Force in WWII, in the Pacific Theatre, and was a member of the 528th Bomb Squadron. Joe and his brother, Gregario Alvarado, (also a WWII veteran), upon t heir return to civilian life became owners of the first Mexican food restaurants in Odessa. A few years later, after Gregario died, Joe and Cordelia retired and moved to Altus. Following her death, Joe moved to San Antonio to be near his sisters. Joe is preceded in death by his wife Cordelia Huitt Alvarado and his parents, Diego G. Alvarado and Guadalupe Salazar Alvarado. Joe is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Antonia A. Roberts of Odessa, Maria D. and Nicolasa Alvarado of San Antonio, Texas; his nephews Christino Alvarado of Dallas, Felix Fernandez and his wife Betty of Odessa; his nieces, Lilia F. Howard and her husband Clif of Big Spring, Olivia Fernandez of Big Spring, Elia Warren of San Antonio, Olivia Alvarado de Torres and her husband, Francisco Torres of Mexico City, Linda Eagleton and her husband Phil of Dallas, Guadalupe Alvarado of Midland. Atchley Calvin C. Atchley, 73, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at his home. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Greer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum. Atchley, known as "Slim" was born to Odie and Alice Jane (Hepler) Atchley in Altus on Aug. 11, 1927. He grew up in the Gould area and attended school there. He joined the military and served in World War II. He returned to southwest Oklahoma and lived in Olustee. On Feb. 22, 1949, he married Thelma Sue Roller in Mangum. They made their home in Mangum and he was employed at Gold Star Dairy. When Gold Star Dairy closed, he commuted to Weatherford where he was a construction superintendent at the university dormitories. He later worked in the funeral industry, being employed by Vernon Johnson, Jim Lovett, Bill Greer and currently by Greer Funeral Home. Atchley was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother and his wife, Thelma Sue in 1996. He is survived by his children, Naomi (Atchley) Duke of Mangum, Dianna Sue Lyle of Hobbs, N.M., Calvin Dwayne Atchley of Branson, Mo. and C. Lynn Atchely of Weatherford; a step son, John Connley; three sisters, Jeune Warren, Esther Atchley, both of Mangum and Octavia Kelly of Apache Junction, Ariz. Pall bearers will be his grandsons, David Anthony Kerbo, Caleb Daniel Atchley, Nathan Lee Atchley and Christopher Akin, also a friend Wayne Fennell. He also has a granddaughter, Chasitidy D. Atchley and two great grandchildren. Arnett Carrie Arnett, 51, Altus, died Saturday morning, Nov. 4, 2000, at Grace Living Center in Oklahoma City. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Altus City Cemetery with the Rev. Duane Jones officiating. Services were under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Arnett was born March 6, 1949, in Hollis, to Tom and Willie Mae (Jordon) Williams. She attended school in Hollis and moved to Altus in 1980. She had worked as a housekeeper for several years. She attended St. John's Baptist Church in Altus. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her friends and family. Arnett was preceded in death by her father, Tom Williams and a brother, Morris Johnson. Survivors include: her mother; a daughter, Theresa Arnett of Oklahoma City; two sons, Timothy and Carrie Lenard of Altus and Lamont Arnett of Cabot, Ark.; four sisters, Rosie Williams and Patricia Johnson, both of Altus, Margaret Johnson of Oklahoma City, ALice Beard of Lawton; three brothers, Howard Williams and Maurice Johnson, both of Oklahoma City, Lois Johnson of Dallas; a special friend of 26 years, James David Freeman; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces nephews and many friends. Biddy Opal Biddy, 86, Stratford, Texas, died Sunday at Stratford. Services were held today at the Stratford Church of Christ. David Boggs officiated. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Warren Cemetery. She was born Sept. 1, 1914, at Hollis. She was homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ at Stratford. She was a resident of Stratford since 1969. She married Ben Biddy on Aug. 29, 1969 in Altus. Survivors include her husband Ben Biddy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Glen Ovid and Cleta Biddy of Blair and Bruce and Sam Biddy of Kerrville, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Idell and Gayle Culberson of Karval, Colo. and Peggy Biddy, Manchester, Tenn.; two sisters, Noami Kellison of San Marcos, Calif. and Paula Scott of Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Addie Collins in 1954, father, Jasper Collins in 1962 and her first husband Lester Biddy in 1965. Memorials may be made to Coldwater Manor Nursing Home in Stratford. Biddy Ray Allen Biddy, 86, of Warren, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2000, in Altus. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Warren Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Osborne, pastor, and the Rev. Ardron Hinton, pastor of the Roosevelt Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was at Warren Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home of Lone Wolf. Biddy was born Sept. 3, 1914, the second child of Albert Allen and Dora Belle Berry Biddy. He married Mildred Lavern Spencer on May 21, 1940, in Blair. He was a retired farmer and cotton ginner and was a lifelong member of the Warren Missionary Baptist Church. He lived his entire life in the Warren Community, where he and his wife, raised four children. Biddy was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Frances Biddy Vann. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren Cemetery Fund. Blankenship Herbert Ray Blankenship, 82, of Eufaula, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at his home. Graveside funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with the Rev. Nathan Hampton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Black's Funeral Home of Eufaula. Blankenship was born Dec. 26, 1917, at Leonard, the son of Albert and Letti (Bartlett) Blankenship. He was married to Wynona Tabb on June 13, 1936, at Frederick. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and was a mechanic. He had lived in Martinsville, Ind., until retiring and moving to Eufaula 20 years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Monroe, Johnny and A.Q. Blankenship. Survivors include: his wife, Wynona of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Joe Blackburn of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren, Helena, Christina, Adam and Benjamin; two sisters, Evelyn Ewing of Tulsa and Imogene King of Altus. Bright Funeral services for Charles Morris Bright, 79, of Altus, are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Burkhardt Chapel of Frederick Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Vernon Floyd, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Bright died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in Altus. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Frederick Funeral Home. Bright was born June 17, 1921, in Winfield, W.Va., to Worthy Sinclair and Frieda Ione (Deardorff) Bright. He attended the Buffalo Academy in Buffalo, W.Va. He entered the military on Nov. 5, 1941, in Charleston, W.Va., and served until Dec. 28, 1943. He served in the southwest Pacific from Dec. 29, 1943, to March 11, 1945. He served stateside from March 12, 1945, to July 11, 1954. He served in Japan from July 12, 1954, to July 30, 1957. He served stateside again from July 31, 1957, to Jan. 26, 1968. He served in Alaska from Jan. 27, 1968, to Jan. 1, 1969. He returned to the United States and served until his retirement on April 30, 1970. He flew with the 380th Bombers Squadron out of Fentonfield, Australia, called the Flying Circus. During his military career, SMSgt. Bright received the following awards: the Air Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal, AIr Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asia-Pacific Campaign Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Medal. He and Elizabeth Key were married Dec. 22, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Altus. He was a baptist and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold Rudolph and Kenneth Worthy Bright. Survivors include: his wife, Elizabeth; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Key of Frederick; an aunt, Frances Rushford of Phoenix, Ariz. and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Brown was born March 3, 1917, to Levi Jackson and Stella Mae Taylor in Lincoln Community, Jackson County. She grew up on the family farm northwest of Eldorado and attended Lincoln School. She married Freddie Dale Brown on July 27, 1935, and they farmed in the Eldorado area until his death in September of 1987. She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church in Eldorado, where she was active in Sunday school classes and taught a children's bible class. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brown was preceded in death by her husband and a sister. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law, DeLois and Michael Henry of Eldorado; and son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Marilyn Brown of Eldorado; four sisters, Mae Moorehead, Dorothy Mitchell and Geneva Turner, all of Altus, and Florence Coldirion of Goldbeach, Ore.; one brother, J.O. "Dub" Chance, 75, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, in Wellington, Texas. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Stewart Funeral Chapel in Hollis with the Rev. David Furlow officiating. Burial will follow at McKnight Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Funeral Services. Chance was born June 20, 1925, in Glory, Texas, and was raised in the Wellington and Hollis areas, where he has lived since returning from serving in the Army. He worked for Owens Wrecking and Farms until his retirement 15 years ago. He joined the Army on Jan. 18, 1944. He served with Company A, First Battalion, 414 Infantry Regiment, 104 Infantry Division, commanded by Major General Terry Allen. He fought in the "Battle of the Bulge" in western Germany. He and his unit were captured by the Germans and were held as prisoners of war for five days before escaping back to U.S. Army lines. Upon rejoining U.S. troops, he joined the fighting again, but was injured by artillery fire. He re-enlisted in the Army after the war was over and returned to Europe as part of the Army of Occupation of Germany, where he served an additional year and a half. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal, European, African, Middle East Campaign Medal, Rhineland Campaign Medal, American Defense Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal. Chance was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Junita Brewer. Survivors include: his brother, Jerry Don Chance and his wife Rita, of Hollis and three sisters, Faye Mayholl and her husband Monty of Monahans, Texas, Reva Ballard and her husband Ed of Altus and Edith Tabor of Borger, Texas. Davis Funeral services for Lola Davis of Altus, are set for 11 a.m. Wedesday at the First Baptist Church of Altus. Interment will follow at the Navajoe Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Davis was born Feb. 2, 1911, to Ike and Lucy Bishop in Lone Oak, Texas. She trained as a nurse at Dr. Beckton's Hospital in Greenville, Texas. While she was working there, she was introduced to O.C. Davis, a member of the Army's 1sat Calvary Division. They began a romance, being married in December of 1937. They shared a career in the Army, which lasted until retirement from active duty in June of 1960. At retirement, She and O.C. returned to Friendship and lived on their farm until his death in 1991. She moved to Altus where she resided until her death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus where she was a member since 1943. She was a world class quilter, have had her work featured in national quilting publications. She enjoyed winning ribbons at the county fair for her quilts and other handiworks. She was a long standing member of the Navajo Home Demonstration Club and was recognized as Jackson County Homemaker of the Year in 1991. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include: two children, Anita Joy Hassell of Shreveport, La. and Charles Davis and his wife Ellen of Norman; six grandchildren, Dr. Daniel Hassell of North Carolina, Dr. Lyle Hassell of North Carolina, Dayna Hassell of Chicago, Ill., Lee Ann Davis of New York City, Elizabeth Davis of Norman and Cory Davis of Princeton, N.Y. She is also survived by three great grandchildren. DeMoss Mary Louise DeMoss, 68, formerly of Altus died Sunday. Services were held this morning at the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Graveside services followed at the Memorial Park Cemetery at Enid under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 14, 1931 to Donovan and Florice DeLapp in Enid. She graduated from Enid High School in 1949. She married Robert Allen DeMoss Dec. 15, 1950. Mary moved with her husband during a time he was completing his theological studies in Illinois and Pennsylvania. They returned to Oklahoma where they raised their family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Loucile. Survivors include her husband, Robert; children Mike and his wife Wendy, Jerry and his wife, Caroline, Mark and his wife Sharmin, Marla and Renee and her husband Neal; a brother, Merle DeLapp; nine grandchildren and many other relatives. Dial Elton Delbert Dial, 72, Prairie Grove, Ark. died Monday at Washington Regional Medical Center at Fayetteville, Ark. He was born March 20, 1928 at Altus to Louis Issac and Sara Isabell McAtee Dial. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prairie Grove. He obtained a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering and a master of science degree in mathematics from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He then obtained a PhD in chemistry from the University of Texas in Austin. He married Jewel G. Burns on June 30, 1935, in Port Arthur, Texas. He taught meteorology to aviation cadets during World War II. He was a professor of chemistry at Texas Tech University, the University of Texas and the University of Houston. He was a member of the American Society of Chemical Engineers and the Highland Heights United Methodist Church in Altus. He enjoyed flying, raising Angus cattle, carpentry, metalworking, sailing and reading. Drake was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and two brothers, Lawrence and Robert Drake. Survivors include: his son and daughter-in-law, George W. Jr. and Glenda Drake of Altus; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen Marie and Richard Hartman of Houston, Texas; a sister, Phyllis Frick of Lubbock, Texas; a brother, Francis Drake of San Bernardino, Calif.; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a nurse and companion, Lou Dickenson. Funeral services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Etherton Raymond "Ray" Phillip Etherton, 70, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Altus with the Rev. Harvey Friedel officiating and the Rev. Maurice Hibbard assisting. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Etherton was born Aug. 24, 1930, to Phillip and Ethel (Graves) Etherton in Sidney, Neb. He graduated in 1949 from Sidney High School. He then joined the Air Force. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He obtained more than 5,000 total flight hours and 1,000 hours were combat flying. He became a load master instructor and had traveled all over the world during his military career. He married Arbie Harms on Jan. 31, 1958, in Sidney, Neb. They came to Oklahoma in 1970 where he obtained his bachelor of science degree from Southern Illinois University. After retiring from the Air Force in 1975, as a tech sergeant, he then worked for the Oklahoma State Employment Security Commission as an interviewer. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Altus. He had been an adult Sunday school teacher and elder for many years. He retired from the Employment Commission in 1992 and began volunteering for the hospital auxiliary and the Salvation Army. He was a third degree mason with the Altus Masonic Lodge and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4876. He enjoyed playing dominoes with the Keenagers, reading and spending time with his family and friends. Etherton was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include: two sons, Andrew Todd Etherton and his wife Teri of Vernon, Texas and William Rae Etherton and wife Amanda of Tipton; a daughter, Margaret Ann Salisbury and husband Joe of Norman; a cousin, Anna Mae Berwick of Valley Center, Kan. and one nephew, two nieces, three granddaughters and many friends. Gilliam Thomas Gilliam, 59, Altus, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Gilliam was born April 22, 1941, in Eddington, S.C. to Theopious and Cora Gilliam He joined the Air Force in 1959. On May 12, 1962, he and Emma Joan Day were united in marriage at the First AME Zion Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. His military career brought them to Altus in 1969, where he retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant in 1983. For the past 16 years, he has been a correctional officer at Oklahoma State Reformatory, with the rank of lieutenant and was a shift supervisor. He is survived by his parents, Theo and Cora Gilliam of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four children, Dawn Gilliam of Brunsville, N.Y., Dwayne Gilliam of Oklahoma City, Dana Gilliam of Montgomery, Ala. and Darrin Gilliam of Plano, Texas; three sisters, Viola Legette of South Carolina, Mary Gilliam and Pearl Gilliam, both of Brooklyn, N.Y. Hall Cecil Ernest Hall, 78, died at his home on November 2, 2000 in Hawthorne, CA. Funeral services will be at the Douglas & Dunaway Mortuary in Hawthorne on Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. He was born to Gladys and Ernest Hall on May 21, 1922 at their farm two miles south of Duke. He was born March 1, 1923 near Eldorado to William L and Ophelia Hunter. He married Dorothy Houchin Sept. 1947 in Quanah, Texas. He farmed in the Eldorado area for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He attended the Corinth Baptist Church and was a life long resident of Eldorado. She lived in Frederick the rest of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening, as well as taking care of the Centervue Cemetery for many years. She operated the Dairy Queen and later the Hamburger Inn in Frederick for many years before retiring. Kinney Herschel "Paul" Kinney, 85, of Altus, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at the Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Kinney was born July 2, 1915, to Alys (Rhodes) Kinney and Isaac Kinney, who settled in the Altus area around 1985. He graduated from Altus High School, attended Altus Junior College from 1935 to 1937, and Oklahoma A&M from 1938 to 1939. He was a tenor in the college quartet and enjoyed music throughout his life. At the family-owned Kinney Hardware & Furniture Store, he worked as bookkeeper and clerk. He served his country during World War II in the 421st Army Air Force Unit. He was a sergeant. He served in the 45th Division in New Guinea and was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal with three bronze stars and the Meritorious Unit Award. At the end of the war, he worked five years in Oklahoma City at Tinker Air Force Base. Malaria and other war-related health problems caused his return to Altus. He was later employed at Altus Air Force Base and by John Riley as a draftsman and surveyor for six years, until his retirement in 1965. He was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and sang in the church quartet when needed. He also served as a church treasurer and Bible school teacher. Kinney was preceded in death by his parents; four half-brothers, I.W. "Tom" Kinney, Jess Kinney, Cecil Kinney and Clifford "Dutch" Kinney and one half-sister, Ina Belle Kinney Hibdon. In 1933 he moved to Reed where he farmed with his brother-in-law, Clifford Boyd. He played baseball with the Reed baseball team. In 1934 he worked at Carter Hardware in Duke and play with the Duke Baseball team He married Jeffie Mae Goodman April 6, 1935. They moved back to Texas where they farmed, ranched and worked in the oil field for several years. In 1954 they moved to Mangum where he farmed and ranched until his health forced him to retire in 1998. He also worked at Republic Gypsum at Duke for 14 years. He was baptized into the Pentecostal church in 1933. He completed his studies at Indiana University with a Ph.D. in 1957. He had a very active and prosperous career in education, retiring as a full professor. He was very active in his community, where he was a member of the Mayor's Committee on United Nations, Board of Directors of Guadalupe Neighborhood Center, where he also served as president, member of the Board of Stewards of St. John's United Methodist Church, member of Commission on Education at St. John's United Methodist Church and a member of the Board of Vestry at St. Christopher's Church. His other activities included being a member of steering committee, Kent Hance race for State Senate, 28th, Senatorial district, campaign manager for Gerald McCathern Congressional campaign, panel member for "Social Economics," Western Social Science Association in Denver, secretary/treasurer for Impower, Inc., Board of Trustees of University of the South and president of Jox, Importers/Exporters. Swanson Major Edmund B. Swanson, Ret., and former Altus resident, 67, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, following a battle with cancer. Turnbo Frohman Turnbo, 86, McAlester, died November 16, 2000 at McAlester Regional Health Center. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday evening at Bishop Funeral Home. Turnbo was born July 30, 1914 in Atoka to Vesta Parker and Ethel Lamascus Turnbo. He moved to McAlester as a child with his family and attended McAlester Schools, graduating from McAlester High School in the class of 1934. He married Bernice Meador on July 25, 1940 in Seminole. He entered the United States Army on July 28, 1943 as the first person drafted in Pittsburg County for World War II. He served on the west coast with the military police until his discharge on March 17, 1946 as a Tec/4. He returned to McAlester and began working for Hunt's Department Store and worked for 43 years, retiring as assistant manager when the store closed its business. He was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church of McAlester, serving as deacon, on various committees and as the young men's Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Harrison-Powers Post #79 American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Thomas Turnbo and Garland Turnbo and a sister Violet Turnbo Owens. Survivors include wife Bernice Turnbo of the home, a daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Henry Sharp of Muskogee; son and daughter-in-law David and Sarah Turnbo of Altus; a granddaughter and husband Cary and Sean Caddell of Norman, and a grandson Trevor Turnbo or Norman. Uecke Elbertine Uecke, 86, Mangum died Sunday at Mangum City Hospital. Services were held this morning at the Church of Christ with Roger Todd officiating. Burial followed at the Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Funeral Service. She was born May 1, 1914 in Greer County to Walter Hugh and Blanche (Wells) Griffis. She graduated from Mangum High School and attended Southwestern State University. She married John Arthur Uecke in Mangum, Dec. 4, 1938. She was a member of the Mangum Church of Christ, she was a member of the Cityside Homemakers Club. Her hobbies included spending time with family and friends and playing bridge. Survivors include two sons, John Walter Uecke of Arlington, Va. and David Griffis Uecke and his wife Beverly of Burns Flat; a brother, Walter Huelan Griffis of Mangum; grandchildren, Susan McRae and her husband Bruce, Janie Selman and her husband, Travis, John David Uecke, Erik Uecke, David Jason Uecke; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 1997, one great-grandson, Dalton Bruce McRae. Walker Joy Sherlene Walker, 62, Childress, Texas died Tuesday, in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist Church in Eldorado with the Rev. Frank Mitchell officiating and the Rev. Greg Kennedy assisting. Burial will follow at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born Feb. 12, 1948 to Eudell and Bonnie (Shumaker) Walker. She attended school in Eldorado for 12 years. She graduated with a Bachelors of Art Degree in English in May of 1970 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and she obtained her Masters of Education Degree in May 1976 from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. She was a teacher in the Texas public school system for 34 years. She taught special education for 29 years in the Childress School System. She was a life member of the TSTA; member of PRIDE Sheltered Workshop Advisory Committee; former member of Council of Exceptional Children; former member of American Association of University Women and she received "Outstanding Teacher 1977-78" from the CEA for the Greenbelt Special Services Co-op. She received an ABC pin (Above and Beyond the call of duty) from the Childress ISD Assistant Superintendent during the 1989-1990 school year. She was nominated for "Texas Excellence Award for Outstanding High School Teachers sponsored by the Ex-Students' Association and the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin. She completed necessary paper work for Annual Spring ARD's, she completed schedules and graduation plans for special education students and has continued to update the VTC (changed to Career Education) to use with the Resource students in the Greenbelt Co-op. She is preceded in death by her father, Eudell Walker. Survivors include her mother, Bonnie Walker, Eldorado; as sister, Belinda Ladner and her husband, Donnie, Abilene, Texas; two brothers, Ronald Walker, Quanah, Texas and Vic Walker and wife, Donna, Monroe, La.; five nephews, six nieces and a host of relatives and friends. The family requests memorials be made to the Hendrick Hospice Care Abilene. Texas or your local Hospice Center of the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel in Eldorado. Walker Troylene Walker died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Walls Tanna LaRue Walls, 54, of Ponca City and former Altus resident, died early Sunday morning, November 26 at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. The funeral was held today at 2 p.m. in the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Coy Whitener officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Born Tanna LaRue Robertson on August 13, 1946 in Altus. She was the daughter of Chester and Cletus (McCormick) Robertson. She attended schools in Altus and married James "Jim" Walls on February 24, 1964 in Altus. The couple moved to Ponca City in 1987. Tanna went to work for, what was then known as Defenders, and now known as P & R Janitorial Services, as a custodian for Conoco. She was baptized and became a member of Bible Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to the Arkansas River and hunting for arrowheads, spending time with her kids. She also enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, one son - James Walls, Jr. and one sister - Pat Robertson. She is survived by her husband, Jim Walls; two sons, Chris Walls and Dustin Walls, of Ponca City; two daughters, Shelia Pappan of Ponca City and Tammy Walls of Perry; eight grandchildren, Kansas Craft, Cody Carlile, Jesse Carlile, Holly Carlile, Tyler Pappan, Stacy Muegge, Christopher Lawe and Kyle Walls; two brothers, Rodney Robertson and Phill Robertson both of Altus; two sisters, Sharon Howland of Altus and Carol Kern of Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Young LeRoy Matthew Young, 69, died Sunday at the home of his daughter in Vernal, Utah. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Spafford Funeral Home, Vernal. Burial will be at the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Spafford Funeral Home. He was born Feb. 13, 1929 in Salt Lake City to Ervin LeRoy and Winnifred Elsie Brown Young. He married Evelyn Joyce Buckminister Jan. 31, 1953 at Enid. His hobbies included hunting and fishing in the Idaho mountains, gardening and collecting coins. He also coached baseball. He played basketball at Utah State University and Idaho State University. He served as a pilot with United States Air Force where achieved the rank of captain. He graduated from the Washington University School of Dentistry at St. Louis. He served as president of the Civitan Club in Idaho Falls, was a member of the Dental Society, B.P.O.E, Numisimatic Club and served as secretary of the Idaho Dental Association.. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served as Young Men's President, scoutmaster and dance director. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Mangum: two children Zoe (Ace) Madsen and Burk (Terra) Young both of Vernal, Utah; a brother, Adrian Young, Blackfoot, Idaho and eight grandchildren.
