Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Corbin officiating. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Mangum. Arrangements are with Greer Funeral Home in Mangum. She was born on July 26. 1913 in Mangum to Elmer and Eula (Baker) Roach. She grew up in the Mangum area and graduated from Mangum High School in 1931. She married Euel Choate on Aug. 13. They made their home in Mangum. He died in 1969. After his death Idell moved to Houston and while there worked at Memorial Pharmacy. She returned to Mangum in 1993. She worked for Bratton's Pharmacy in Mangum. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Euel. Survivors include a son, "Mac" Choate and his wife, Earlene of Mangum; two brothers James Roach of Rhode Island, R. J. Roach of Kingsville, Mo. two sisters, Wanna Thomas of Houston, Texas and Mary Katherine Matthews of Houston; three grandsons, Randy Choate of Marlow, Brent Choate of Grandby, Colo. and Don Ed Choate of Mangum; six great-grandchildren, Raichelle Ann Choate, Jams Choate, Kent Choate, Kris Choate, Julian Ann Choate and Cory Bowman. Gibbons Paul R. Gibbons, 57, passed away on Aug. 31. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Baggerly-South Funeral Home Chapel, in Oklahoma City. He was born Dec. 11, 1943 to Lon and Lucille (Riley) Gibbons of Altus. He was employed for the City of Oklahoma Engineering Division for 33 years. Survivors include three daughters, Kortni Root and husband Klay of Edmond, Amy Cannon and husband, Jeremy and Tina Gibbons all of Oklahoma City; a brother, Eddie Gibbons and wife, Rena of Mountain Park; granddaughter, Kelsi Root and Kalli Cannon; a niece Sherrie Webb, Nephew, Alan Gibbons, half-sister, Margaret Smith; half-brothers, Gregory and Harold Gibbons and four great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, Dick Gibbons. Mitchell Mary S. Mitchell, 90, Hollis, died Friday at Harmon County Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 24, 1910 to Henry and Dossie Sieber. She married Elbert Mitchell on Dec. 10, 1927 in Hollis, where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a member of the Baptist Church. He attended school in McAllen, Texas. He married Ernestina Garza April 17, 1961 in McAllen, Texas. He worked for more than 20 years in Civil Service, as a butcher in the meat department at Altus Air Force Base Commissary. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and enjoyed sports, fishing, music, animals and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Cruzitia Villarreal. Greer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born in Oklahoma Territory on Nov. 13, 1905. She was a retired school teacher, graduating from Oklahoma College for Women in 1932. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar Llewellyn Crook. Survivors include a daughter, LuAnn Klotz and her husband, Arthur of Mineral, Va.; a son, James O. Floyd James Luther "J.L" Floyd, 75, Snyder, died Saturday at a Snyder nursing home. Services were held this afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Snyder. The Rev. Doug Henson, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Roosevelt officiated. Burial followed at the Fairlawn Cemetery at Snyder. Services were under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder. He was born March 13, 1926 in Snyder to Robert Henry Floyd and Cora Beatrice Powell Floyd. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1943. He entered the United States Army Air Force and trained as a B-29 Tall gunner during World War II. He earned his private pilots license and also completed TV and radio repair school. He managed the Floyd Home and Auto Supply, a business his father began. He married Naomi Vernaud Biddy on April 18, 1954 in her hometown of Warren. They had been residents of Snyder since that time. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Snyder, where he served on the Board of deacons for 36 years. He was a teacher of the Adult Men's Sunday School class for many years. He was a member of the Rotary Club for 45 years, the Snyder Chamber of Commerce, and a city councilman during the time the community building, swimming pool and water treatment plant were completed. He was also active in PTA, and band booster projects. He was an active member of the Ethan Allen Post number 118 of the American Legion for more than 50 years. he retired and the Floyd and Home and Auto Supply closed in 1986. Survivors include his wife Vern of the home; two sons, Lonnie Brent and wife Cheryl of Overland Park, Kan. He was born July 26. 1919 in Chicago, Ill. to Frank William and Elizabeth Venda Swanson Anderson. His father was a Swedish Free Church pastor. He graduated from Wheaton College in 1941. He married Virginia Moore Aug. 23, 1942 at the Altus First Baptist Church. He moved from Chicago to Altus in 1948 to work with his father-in-law, Marvin Moore at Moore's Wholesale Grocery. He worked as owner and manager of Moore's Wholesale Grocery until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Elks Golf and County Club and an active member of the Altus Lions Club for more than 50 years, where he served as president. He received the highest award the International Lions Club can bestow, the Melvin Jones Fellowship. This year, the Altus Lions Club awarded him an honorary lifetime membership. He was instrumental in establishing the Altus Safe House. He served on the Board of Directors of the Altus Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where he served as choir director, Sunday School teacher, and Baptist Training Union teacher and was a member of the adult Sunday School Class. They made their home in Ada, and later moved to Tulsa. They moved to Mangum approximately 15 years ago. Her husband died on Dec. 24, 1985. She was a wife and mother and a member of the Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Jim Kingery and three sisters. She is survived by one son, Phillip N. He was born Sept. 8, 1936, in Hollis to Colby and Tommie May Dennis. He graduated from Duke High School. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1959. Interment will follow at the Eldorado Cemetery. There will be a viewing Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Lowell-Tims Eldorado Chapel. He was born March 12, 1925 to Arlie Ivan and Mazella (Jones) Babb in Eldorado where he grew up. He attended the First Baptist Church in Eldorado and graduated from Eldorado High School in 1943. During World War II, he served with the United States Armed Forces in Europe. He later moved to Wichita, Kan. and worked for the Boeing Air Craft Company. He attended the University of Oklahoma to study music. In the mid 1950s, he returned to Eldorado where he began his career doing masonry work and building homes. In the 1970's he owned and operated a home building supply company as well as continuing his home building business. He was a musician and loved playing the piano. After he retired, he provided musical entertainment for many special occasions and played dinner music at Altus Air Force Base Officer's Club. He married Carol (Cranfill) Mefford in Weatherford, July 27, 1985. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wallace and Herman Babb. She was a homemaker and taught sewing classes at the Singer retail store from 1949 until 1952. She taught at the Jack and Jill Kindergarten for 17 years. She was instrumental in the fundraising and founding of the Southern Prairie Library where she worked from 1973 until 1983 and had driven the bookmobile many times. She served on the Red Cross Board for 29 years. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and the Woodmen of the World, served on the Southwest Community Action Board, served for several years as a volunteer for the Jackson County Election Board, precinct 10., was a member of the Altus Chapter of the Retreads Motorcycle Club and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus for more than 50 years. She also enjoyed sewing for her family as well as for charity groups and projects in her retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John Curtis and a granddaughter, Stephanie Kelly. She is survived by her husband, Fred; two daughters, Sherry Curtis, Liberal Kan. and Reta Penington of Tulsa; daughter-in-law, Pam Curtis of Edmond; granddaughter, Melanie Kelly, Yukon; a brother, Yukon; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Wanda Stiles, Mineral Wells, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Edwards and Mary Francis Reimer, both of Altus; nieces, nephews and many friends. Kirby Jack Kirby, 89, passed away Wednesday at this home in Hollis. Services are pending with Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis. SEPT. 18 EDITION: Coe Odessa Louis Coe, 70, Altus, passed away Saturday. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Elmer Cemetery. Sonny Tims will officiate. She was born May 26, 1931 at Elmer to Tom and Audi Coe. She worked as a caregiver for many years. She was known for her cooking and the care she gave to her family. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Pruitt of Altus; two sons, Jackie Pruitt of Panama City, Fla. and Kenny Pruitt of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Doc Coe, Jay Coe and Chub Coe all of Altus; a sister, Jeanette Simmons of Blair; 12 grandchildren and many more relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters and many other special relatives. Reed Eddie "Ab " Reed, 82, Altus died Monday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A celebration of life memorial service will be at 10 a.m Wednesday at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel. A family gathering will be held at the conclusion of services in the Kincannon family room. He was born Feb. 9, 1919 in Antlers to Eddie O. and Sarah (Ashley) Reed. He attended school in Hobart was a Gunery Sergeant in the United States Marines Corps during World War II from 1940 to 1946. He married Mae Stinley May 13, 1943 in Gotebo. He retired in 1976 after a 30-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, a member of the Frederick Masonic Lodge as a 32nd Mason and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters and a grandson. Survivors include his wife, Mae; a daughter, Lorraine Cotton, Altus; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie A. Reed, Jr. and wife Pam, Plano, Texas, Leroy and Marilyn Reed, Altus; Tommie and Letha Reed, Vernon, Texas; a sister, Elaine Gardenhire, Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial contribution be made to the charity of your choice.
