Altus Times 25 April 2004 John George Aument John George Aument, 75, died Thursday evening, April 22, 2004, in Wichita Falls, Texas. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2004, at Hampton Vaught Crestview with Father Ivor Koch officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Hampton Vaughn Crestview. Aument, the youngest child of Edwin and Anna (Power) Aument, was born on Feb. 24, 1929, in Camden, N.J. On June 27, 1959, he married Maria Nidia Guerra in Miami Springs, Fla. He began working to help support his parents at age 17 when he joined the Air Force, where he served for 11 years from 1946 to 1957. He left the Air Force to pursue his formal education. He received his bachelor's and masters degrees from the University of Miami and almost completed his doctorate in educational administration at the University of Texas. He held many jobs throughout his years that moved him and his family through Florida, Texas and Oklahoma. He retired as a civil service instructor at Altus Air Force Base in 1989 and then moved to Arlington, Texas where he worked for Hughes Training until he retired again in 1994. He and his wife then moved to Wichita Falls to be near family. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls. He liked to research his family tree and his greatest joy was watching his little granddaughter grow up. Survivors include his wife, two children, Michelle Bearman and husband Tim of Wichita Falls and Stephen Aument and wife Jessica of Kingwood, Texas; granddaughter, Emily Bearman of Wichita Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
