All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== :: Hobart Democrat-Chief Charles Irvin Black, 81, died March 30, 2009 at his home near Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. He was born September 11, 1927 to Esther (White) Black and Joe W Black at Hess, Oklahoma. He grew up in Olton, Texas and Altus, Oklahoma. He graduated from Altus High School in 1946. He was an all-state football player. He married Eileen (Berkey) Black, April 2, 1948 at Lone Wolf. They raised their family in Lone Wolf. Black worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a telegrapher and station agent for 27 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Lone Wolf, where he served as a deacon and was the church treasurer for several years. Survivors include his wife Eileen of the home; his sons, Stephen Black and wife Oreta, Gotebo; Greg Black and wife Janet, Weatherford; and Roy Black and wife Jeanne, Lone Wolf; one brother, Travis Black, Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Services are at 2 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Lone Wolf with Dwain Wright, Nathan Powell and Chris Poindexter officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Wolf Cemetery under direction of People's Co-operative Funeral Home.
