Carl Dendy

PORTALES, N.M. - Carl Dendy, 101, died Monday, June 29, 1998.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in 
Portales with the Rev. Gene Richardson officiating. Burial will be at 
Portales Cemetery.

Mr. Dendy moved to Jackson County, Okla., when he was 14 years old. 
He moved to Portales in 1927. He was a farmer and a carpenter until 
his retirement. He was a charter member of the Senior Citizen Center 
and a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Order of Eastern Star and the 
Historic Society.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie, in 1978.

Survivors include three sons, W.E. Dendy and Jack Dendy, both of 
Portales, and Kenneth Dendy of Lubbock, Texas; three daughters, Marie 
Isbell of Hobbs, Imogene Monroe of Alamogordo and Lula Mae Slavey  of 
Phoenix; a sister, Ora Harris of Portales; 20 grandchildren; 40 
great-grandchildren; and 24 great-greatgrandchildren.
