D. L. DICKEY Mrs. D. L Dickey died at 11:30 p.m., March 4, at the family residence in Dallas, Texas, after a serious illness of about a year. She had a stroke of paralysis, early that spring, and had never recovered. On March 4, 1927, she had a stroke of apoplexy at 11:30 a.m. and died that night at 11:30 p.m. The body was brought to the Altus Undertaker’s Parlor Monday, where it remained until Tuesday morning, when it was brought to Olustee and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. S. Eggner, at the Methodist church. Mrs. Dickey is survived by her husband, D. L. Dickey, ten children and seventeen grandchildren, and a brother, S. E. Echols of Oklahoma City. All were present at the funeral [torn] she was thinking of the twenty-third Psalm: “Abide with me” and the twenty-third Psalm, her favorites, were sung at the funeral. The grave was entirely covered with many beautiful floral offerings from friends and loved ones. Mr. and Mrs. Dickey lived most of their married life in Olustee. Mr. Dickey came in 1888 and soon went back east and married Miss Lula Echols and brought her to their pioneer home near the present site of Olustee. All of her children received their common school education in the Olustee school. The first semester of the present school year is the first time the Olustee school was opened without enrolling a Dickey. However, Junior Dickey, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dickey was placed on the primary school the second semester of this year. A host of friends in Olustee and Jackson county extend their sympathy to the relatives of Mrs. Dickey. ---
