Edwards was born on May 19, 1922 in Altus, OK and died on August 12, 2005 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.F. and Virgie Edwards, his brother, Robert Edwards and his grandson, Brent Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Betty Edwards, his sister-in-law, Wilma Edwards, his brother-inlaw, Woodrow Mitchell, his children Verna and Delvin Black, Roy and Carol Edwards, Jean and Glenn Teague, and Mary and Terry Phipps; his grandchildren Stephen and Jan Black, Rodney and Erin Teague, Garrett and Elizabeth Kimball, Caroline Teague, Katherine Phipps, Laura Phipps; and three great grandchildren, Brylee Black, Bradyn Black, and Talton Teague. Mr. Edwards was a graduate of Oklahoma A & M and a decorated U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He had a long and distinguished career with Wilson & Co. and upon retirement enjoyed overseeing his ranching and investment activities. He was a long-time member of the Church of Christ. He held positions on the boards of directors of the State Fair of Oklahoma and the National Cowboy Hall of Fame as well as several other companies. He was a generous man who loved his family and enjoyed entertaining friends and colleagues. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the Edmond Church of Christ, 801 S. Bryant, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, south of Stillwater, OK at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Edwards' name to The Kids' Place, P.O. Box 258, Edmond, Oklahoma 73083. Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK.
