June 4, 1938-February 6, 2007. Bobby J Guy, 68, of Tigard passed away on Feb. 6, 2007. Bob enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved music, and was an accomplished guitarist. Since his retirement in 2000, his greatest joys were fishing and spending time with his 10 grandchildren. As a young man, Bob was a member of the 45th Division of the Oklahoma National Guard and then joined the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged, he followed the family tradition of working in a newspaper. Bob worked in the printing industry his entire life. Beginning as a line-type operator at his family's town paper in Blair, Okla., he also worked for The Oregonian and The Oregon Journal as both foreman and country music writer. He then moved on to California becoming production manager of the Los Angeles Herald Examiner. Bob was married to Susie Githens in Lincoln City in 1960. Bob was a hard-working entrepreneur. He and his wife have owned and operated several businesses over the years. Bob's love of music has enriched many lives. He had a country band called "Bobby and the Guys" that performed in the Portland area from 1964 to 1969. His recording of "It's my Life, Let Me Live it" can be heard on his daughter Melody Guy's CD "Shoulda' Loved Me." Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Dean Alter; his father, Virgil H. Guy; his infant brother, Franklin Guy; and sisters, Norma Tawwater of Midwest City, Okla., and Virginia Kelley of Earth Texas. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susie Guy of Tigard, children, Brett Horney of New York, Debbie Ryan of Sherwood, Michael Guy of Sherwood, Cyndi Butler of Sherwood, and Melody Guy of Nashville Tenn.; grandchildren, Dan Sierra, Dave Sierra, Ryan Sierra, Sean Smith, Delaney Smith, Samantha Arndt, Robert Smith, Cody Butler, Max Butler and Brandon Guy; sisters, Kat Ferguson of Midwest City and Rose Hankins of Vigo Park, Texas; and brothers, Virgil Guy of Bedford Texas, Don Guy of Chickasha, Okla., and Bill Guy of Haskell, Okla. His great sense of humor and warmth and talent for making people feel comfortable and welcome will be missed. An online photo/music memorial can be viewed at http://Bob-Guy.memory-of.com.
