Mom, was born in Jackson Co., Oklahoma on June 29, 1920, to Louis and Maude Billington. She was raised on a farm and attended Victory Schools. She moved to California in 1940. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald Lee Pollard; brother, Jack Billington; sister, Marlene Bean; and grandsons, Timothy Scott Koch and Dane Christopher Craig (Oatsie). Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kenneth Pollard and wife, Consuelo of Shafter and Gary Merritt; daughters, Sherle Araujo, Sudie Ellis and husband, Howard, Robin Craig; her sister, Mozelle Affleck, all of Bakersfield. Mom, had 22 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren, 6 great-great- grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Her greatest joy was her family, especially the grandkids when they would come to visit and she got a good old fashion foot rub at a cost to her of 25 cents. She made each one of them feel like they did the best job. The grandkids always knew they would get a homemade pillow and box of cookies for Christmas or when we came to visit and were ready to leave she always said to us, "What's your hurry" no matter if we were there for 5 minutes or 24 hours. She had a sense of humor and could always take a good teasing. Mom attended Planz Road Church of Christ for 40 years and loved her Church and Church Family. She read her Bible faithfully until she became ill. We will all miss her very much and each of us is thankful for every single moment we got to spend with her. We'd like to Thank, Dr. Bhangoo, Dr. Kitt, all the staff and especially the Nurses on the 4th floor at San Joaquin Hospital and also San Joaquin Home Heath Care. Please join us for her Viewing on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 3-8 p.m., at Greenlawn, with a Chapel service at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 12, also at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, CA.
